FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.
irm https://get.activated.win | iex

>and Office?
Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

What can cause Windows to have about 30 seconds of "black screen, but monitor on" before the login screen is visible? I've seen it happen on a few systems

In the case of my own, it happens with the exception of
- rebooting after a BSOD
- the next boot after a (big?) update
- As I've recently discovered, rebooting to the UEFI

alright guys i'm gonna be honest and make a reddit tier question. I really don't wanna start over installing another OS not even w10 IoT right now. If I keep using my w10 pro without any security updates only to play vidya on steam and shitpost on 4chan. can I be raped by a pajeet only because my current OS is connected to the internet or everything should be fine as long as you don't download any malware? unless some exploit has been found and hackers are waiting, or will be found in the future, you MIGHT be at risk. otherwise you'll be fine mate. I have no intention of moving from w10 where I've gutted it, no updates or defender etc. just know what you're downloading and you'll gold.

How likely is it that microsoft will force local account installs to create ms accounts in the future through updates? Surely there are scenarios airgapped systems can't even work with ms accounts?
>>

Highly likely since they're pushing against local accounts under the bad faith argument of security. I could however, see the EU telling to require updates regardless. The United fuckistan of America is absolutely fucked if MS decides that route.

Only difference between 24h2 and 25h2 I've noticed so far is the inclusion of the 'edit' cli tool. But I assume that will eventually be backported.

Strangely the version number of edit is one patch beyond what is in its github repo.

Honest discussion question: What is the point of this besides adding more points of failure to Windows? It's not like they can make any real meaningful changes to the OS.

If you're downloading something like this I presume you're already more tech savy than the average person; why are you not just downloading a Linux distro, and possibly dual booting into an LTSC install if you need a native windows desktop for a game, or a specific program for work?

I as well, personally, have less trust in the security of the maintainers for something like this, versus a highly audited OS like Fedora, or Arch.
>>
>>106859741
What are you using your machine for? It's all relative if 4TB is a lot, and it matters less depending on the size of the drive, and it's flash type.

Are you compiling on the drive? Is your browser on that drive? Video editing? Those do a lot of writing.

Do you have a page file on that drive, and does your system have low memory storage amount? You might be using your swap a lot.

Who updating win10 pro to iot?
I tried the guide above, didn't seem to work for me. Used this github script instead.
https://github.com/Bladez1992/LTSConvert
>>
>>106860723
Linux is an illusion. With Arch, you're forced to update 10s of packages every week if you want to install something new. It's way bigger security risk than any windows and annoying as hell.
eg. I'm regretting that I binned my iot W11.

>>
>>106861047
Yep.
>download LTSC iso with the same language as my install (it's fine if it's not IoT) and mount it
>run that registry command
>run setup
>make sure it says it's going to keep all files and apps
>wait a fuckton of time
And then you run massgrave again to re-activate Windows because it will need another licence.
Only weird thing I noticed is how it enabled all the things I had disabled on startup, but that's not really an issue

Anyone else had an issue with downloading Win 10 IoT enterprise LTSC from massgrave? I get to about half way through and then the download stops with the error "could not be saved because the source file could not be read".

I read on the github for their activation scripts that some ISPs/DNS block access to their domains, and to have DNS over HTTPS, but it's already enabled for me in Firefox. Following the link provided in the Cloudflare documentation to check if it's configured properly, reports it as being set up properly. Would setting it up within my Windows make a difference?

I believe I ran into the same issue a while back when I wanted to do a clean reinstall of Win 10, so I never got around to doing it.

My Windows and Office is still activated by KMS_VL_ALL. Is there a reason to switch to Massgrave?
>>
>>106862863
If it's activated and working fine then no there's no real need. The difference between that offline fake KMS activation and Ohook or TSforge is that they don't need to put a .dll file into system32 which can make Defender mad, they're much more quiet then that and don't actually change anything.
>>
>>106862730
I downloaded it just fine like 2 days ago when I did the whole thing but first I got reminded that Firefox is ass for downloading things as it loves to just drop the connection at random. Moved to Edge and got it with no problem.

I see, in that case, if I ever reinstall Windows I should switch to Massgrave.

Yeah it's what I did. Changed over to MAS's methods after using KMS_VL_ALL for a good while for Office and Windows activation.
Not to say it's bad though because it still works fine, just less "clean."

Should I use bulk crap uninstaller or bleachbit from the useful programs pastebin?
>>
>>106864394
BCUninstaller is for uninstalling programs and a vast majority of the cruft they may leave behind that Windows' own installer doesn't bother with. Bleachbit is like CCleaner if it wasn't bloatware.
>>
>>106864394
Neither, delete programs from settings, and if you are tech savvy enough delete leftover icons on desktop, start menu, and loose files left in file explorer's popular locations like Documents/Pictures/Music/Videos/ProgramData/Program Files/Program Files (32Bit)/Users-AppData. And if you are super autistic you can open registry editor select find and search the name of the program you installed to delete all the entries. But realistically most of these range from a few KB to a few MB at best and you don't need to clean them up at all. I would never trust a third party program that works in a way where it just searches for everything containing specific keywords and deletes it automatically to be safe to use. Windows for example comes with mozilla or adobe registry entries and file explorer folders/files out of the box and you would delete those too by using a third party program to delete firefox or adobe reader or something. Keep in mind the OP is written by low IQ tinfoil hat schizoids, you really shouldn't be using it as a resource. You would learn more just by using official microsoft docs and sticking to built-in tools to take care of your pc maintenance.

But it seems like Extended Updates sounds good if I want... updates for an extended time. So should I go with TSforge - Windows / Office / ESU, or HWID - Windows?
>>
>>106866796
chat completion software says
>Since you've already upgraded to Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, you don't actually need Extended Security Updates (ESU) to keep getting security patches and updates—Microsoft provides official support for this edition all the way until January 13, 2032. That's over six years from now, covering the full lifecycle without any extra steps for extended updates beyond the standard end-of-support for consumer Windows 10 editions (which hits on October 14, 2025). ESU is mainly for folks sticking with non-LTSC versions of Windows 10 who want 1–3 years of paid security updates post-EoL
