I have a team that I support that always fights me with everything. It's to the point where I always have to give meetings just to babysit them where they'll try to pick a fight and die on the smallest hill. Anytime they have a question or an inquiry or want to yell, I have to do a lot of detective work just to present artifacts and it's so annoying since I can already tell what's off without needing to fucking do a whole fucking essay. My boss is not supportive in this aspect and just goes "do what we need to do" and he'll even rope me in every meeting with them. My job is pretty good if it wasn't for this desu.

You don't even have a proper use case for this anyways, what's the point when development always stalls with you because higher ups get antsy about change.
SysAdmin here, is it normal to be DevOps as well? The VP of our team seems to expect our team to know be and end all of operations and how exactly they do their processes and our job is mostly trying to optimize and automate for them along with being their helpdesk. Not trying to fight it or anything but genuinely confused if this is all sysadmin work, it feels so weird because he's making us in charge of something that I'd assume would be the manager of operations.
>>106887720he sounds like a faggot yesman hero complex BITCH
>>106887750I think it's more that he wants our group to cannibalize more because the VP of operations is starting to get a little bit more uppity and they're having a politic war over how things are suppose to go and if it's on our side then he can get more shit done but it seems so backwards the way some of his direction is. He wants us to take over setting up new vendors on our side because the vendor team is actually ass slow and I'm just thinking why the fuck the admin team is handling operations here.
>>106887806that sucks desufucker probably thinks he's too clever by making you take on more outside of scope tasks while keeping the team on a measly sysadmin salary of peanuts
>>106887970Even if it is, I'm still questioning how the fuck it makes sense. I'll just figure a way to automate it anyways but I don't like the responsibility in our court.
>>106887720>SysAdmin here, is it normal to be DevOps as wellI mean yeah, devops is the term that caught on and got popularized because SRE sounded both confusing and not fancy enough, and its aim originally was to replace old school sys admining. Though it's not really clear what you are actually asking about.
>be me>awake at work from home>making lunch>the lights flash for 1 second>I don't have any lights on and my window is openI must've blinked or something. I keep seeing dark spots appear and disappear

my manager made a big change while I was on vacation thats now causing another development team to be completely stalled out.I'm now the only person around who can fix it, but I'm thinking of emailing my director and only my director letting him know this 100% wasn't my idea. In fact, if he recalls, I had a meeting with him and my manager earlier in the year telling them we shouldn't do this thing specifically without a bunch of prep work and company comms, a change request, etc.am i being a bitch emailing him and letting him know whats happening without cc'ing my manager? i'm the current senior, and my manager kind of has a rep for being a notorious liar.
>>106888202Which one?
>I, as a developer, need thisWhy are they such little divas?
be honest do you guys play some video game music while you're wfh? helps me get in the mood lol
>>106888508I don't play any music except when driving
>>106888373Yeah I wouldn't. I've always found the management to side with each other over peons at every job I've had
>>106888373You should, fuck managers they’re complete pussies. Every chance you get to go over your manager/supervisors head you should take.
>>106888373Just let it be and don't fix it, and if someone asks why it's not fixed, say that the manager wants it this way.
>>106888508I play all kinds of music while I work. Same was true when I was at the office.
I'm terrified of getting fired. If I do it's unironically over, I have 4 yoe but no degree. I'd be fucked. Can't imagine trying to find a job in today's market.
>>106888508Yeah. Actually listening to this rn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLdEOqfEouw&list=RDOLdEOqfEouwCan't wait to play it during work hours.
>>106888373You're gonna be fired for it. The manager will look at it and think "wow, this guy can't respect hierarchy and doesn't trust us to communicate properly!". Plus, he'll think you have protagonist syndrome - even if you're the only man for the job. T. also the only man for the job of fixing my team, realized there's not much to do and, if the director doesn't care, then why should I?
>>106888358This. 80% of what you do is a Humiliation Ritual, you might not even know it. There were days when coding was a guy job and people would axe doors in the meantime. I hope you don't think going through "daily meetings", "scrum sprint retro demo", etc. are really about productivity.
Today I had a wank during an all hands looking at the cleavage of one of the hr sluts.
>>106888202ayo hol up cracka
>>106888999double trips of truth probably.I got cc'd on an email from my manager to my director 15 minutes ago where he only used "we language" in what went wrong, trying to dodge the fact he was the one who went rogue and did this himself.

Why aren’t yall using your downtime to develop anti-indian apps? They are finding new ways to scam every day and people would pay good money to not have to contact them or even see them at all
>>106890113Adding on to >>106890121, do you enjoy working in the middle of the night then going to work the next day with no additional pay?
>>106890113It only sucks if you're the one who actually fixes the problems. Weaponized incompetence is pretty effective here, or it was for me. No one will waste time calling you if you're never able to help.
>>106888373pure autism0 understanding of social interactionsyeah man just go ahead and backstab your managerwhat could possibly go wrong?
>>106890228We typically got paid more for on-call, but it really fucking sucks getting a mid-sleep call. It's especially bad if you have a hard time falling asleep like I do, so if I got woken up after sleeping for three hours, that meant that I only slept three hours that day before having to go to work and trying to live a normal life.
>>106890121it's remote so it can't be that bad. It also got the lowest requirements so that's cool. But maybe you're right. Has anyone worked BestBuy retail here?
>>106890256If you show the director you aren’t retarded snd he thinks the manager is retarded you’ll have a few rough years until the manager leaves the team but you won’t get fired. It entirely depends on if the director likes and believes and remembers you at all. It’s a gamble

I'm starting to sound really fucking unhinged to my manager during my 1:1s and I'm trying to dial it back but some of the retarded asks that I've been getting is starting to piss me off. We had a re-org recently and people have been using it as a scapegoat for asking stupid shit and it's really been pissing me off.

>>106897801That's a different issue. All the ai companies fund each other, which raises their stock price. And as long as their stock price goes up, they have more money to fund each other.
