No, they didn't. Even the unpopular 4080 was produced for over a year before the discounted 4080 Super was released.
It's a 2-year generational cycle, with refreshed products in between.
It's in NVIDIA's best interest to sell 12/16GB cards as long as they can.
5070 12GB is the highest-selling RTX 50 series card atm.

I used to be in a similar place to yours, debating on trying to improve the am4 build or saving more and move to a new build, i was also on 1080p
ryzen 5 1600 16gb ram and a gtx970 gpu
I got a used cheap 5600x (no 3d) a not as cheap used 3060TI, 32 gb of faster ram and i also bought a new psu just in case since my older one was already 8 years old and probably was close to cap on the new parts. Also bought a new case as again.... 8 years old the evolution on case design has been staggering.
I can play ANYTHING at high settings 60fps @1080, i could probably ankle bit some games at medium @1440 if i had a 2k screen
I just finished Dying Light the beast for example, played Wuchang, Returnal, hell is us, the lies of p (and dlc). As somewhat demanding games i have finished recently
However if yo rather jump to am5 and can sell your current parts getting a basic low budget am5 build is not the most expensive thing in the world either right now

>>106886203

Is it true that the new amd apus going to be stronger than the 9070xt?
Right now PC gaming is held back by both old console hardware and AI. Basically nothing new under the sun, console dictating the market of gaming. Cheaper, more accessible, more kids with crooked (no) standards.
Greedia and amd just milking the AI weapons race.

concerning how nobody talks about the dangers of ai but thats another thing.

anyway gossip says the next console is going to be strong! powered by amd breaktrough apus! that means VR and computer graphics leap is on the horizon! (assuming jeet spaghetti code and incompetence is being stopped nao or else no computing power is going to be enough)
>>
>>106886570

They'll focus on the RT/ai for the architecture, but nvidia did that years ago already so its less exciting.
>>
>>106886766
>anyway gossip says the next console is going to be strong!
They can't push raster performance very far without pushing it into pc pricing.
A 5060ti is probably going to be the closest equivalent if you're being realistic.
>>
>>106886766
It just means next-gen consoles will support upscaling & frame generation from day 1.
Given the price of the PS5 Pro ($750), it's very likely the PS6 will have $700 and $800 models.
Don't expect an amazing GPU from that cost constraint; it won't be better than a 9070 XT.
>>
>>106886783
>but nvidia did that years ago already so its less exciting.
qrd?
new gen and strong as fuck console is generally the best thing that could happen to pc gaming right now, if anything that is something to be excited about.

10years from now we all going to be strapped to displays, vr is the next step

new console, new next gen graphics, new commercialized console vr boom. lets go
>>
>>106886766
Big doubt.
Strix halo is expensive as fuck and not even close to the performance of 9070XT.
I don't see how they could gain over 100% more performance and lower the price to acceptable level.

Digital foundry speculated about a longer cross gen period where devs make games that are ported to wide range of devices that fit the game.
They'll scale the games up with RT and higher fps for the ps6 and pc but no need to leave a lot of gamer market behind so they'll build it to work for ps5 as the baseline. Like how cdpr is doing for witcher 4

Base GPD WIN 5 is $1700.
Those handhelds would need to cost under $700 which is impossible right now.
Future APUs also have limited appeal.
On top of using more expensive TSMC process, UDNA gpus will use even bigger die than RDNA3 because of all the added dedicated hardware for ML and RT.
So this will raise the price even further.

hey there /pcbg/ im coming with a couple of questions. currently have a 5700, and im looking to upgrade for better gaming performance/all around nice to haves. I've been getting some sound crashing/artifacting issues in what I've been told is a RAM access issue that could also be CPU related. my options seem to be to get a 5800X3D and keep the current AM4 platform or basically start from scratch and go AM5, likely a 7600X or 9600X but possibly a 7700X/9700X.

is Ryzen 7 that much better than 5 to justify the 100-150 price increase on processor alone? I do use my computer for gaming as well as some music production and digital art. pic related is my system.

upgrade to am5. wait for 9600x3d or spend on 9800x3d now.

Hey boys could you look at this for me https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Wd2hb2

This is for music production / video editing
I use a lot of VST-s, plugins so I need a good CPU. I chose this one because on a youtube vid some producer was using some slightly worse model than this one and it worked great, there were no stutters even with a lot of instances of vsts. I plan to also play a game or two here and there.

Having used oled for a while theres some issues
If I use the max brightness mode whenever I browse 4chan and hover over an image the screen dims itself, so its a better experience to use a lower nits mode so the auto brightness limiter isnt constant annoyance. In games its less of an issue.
You have the typical avoidance of letting static content be up all the time, so I have things like a wallpaper folder that switches once a minute, I use windhawk app that mades taskbar translucent (also vertical), I try to watch videos more on fullscreen. Screensaver is enabled after few mins.
I can game on my oled and keep 4chan up on 2nd lcd monitor.

Still the quality is best so I wouldnt go out of my way to get a miniled with blooming. Its more that if you get a miniled its going to have some advantages like having higher fullscreen brightness and no dimming issues.

You're not supposed to enable HDR for SDR content. You also disable miniLED's local dimming for standard SDR web browsing/Windows content, or you'll deal with blooming backlights.

Im not sure if 2023 article is perfectly up to date now but I used windows hdr calibration tool + the sdr content brightness slider and stuff like chrome and windows desktop look fine.
Then nvidia app has features like rtx hdr which makes sdr videos hdr and it looks good.
Windows has that hdr shortcut with win key+ alt + b that some people use but I havent felt the need to switch to sdr mode.

Cant speak for minileds. If sdr content doesnt work with hdr on miniled wouldnt that incentivize to always use hdr?
>>
>>106888087
>If sdr content doesnt work with hdr on miniled wouldnt that incentivize to always use hdr?
No, because that destroys contrast on LCD monitors as noted in that article.
The advice hasn't changed since 2023, TFTCentral still recommends viewers to disable HDR when viewing SDR content.
He'll mention that in his new monitor reviews from time to time.

Im the anon that stayed in am4 and replied to you earlier. Im not the anon that mentioned the better gpu but will tackle that question too.
>Which gpu do you recommend?
The current meta is either 9070xt or 5070TI both will be 600-800 depending where you are
However in your situation the 5060TI 16gb that you picked is perfectly fine as i personally dont think that on your budget the ones i mentioning are in the cards.
You have to make the decision of getting a low end budget build as the one you posted or updating the cpu ram and gpu and start saving for when you actually jump to the next build in the future.
In my country a 5600x new is 140 16gb of new ram is 60 that leaves you 550 for (out of the 750 you mentioned) for a new cooler 25€ and then enough for a 5060TI which start at 450€. Those prices may vary in your country. Btw where are you? that could help in choosing parts. Now if you can find a 2nd hand 5600x(3d) a bit cheaper than retail price (there should be a lot of those around) that would help.
Problem with that build is that other than the gpu and the cooler the rest is fairly outdated tech, it will work and work good, you will get frames and play @1080/1440p for a while. But thats it, there are no real further upgrades there on the cpu in the future, the next change will require you to change the whole computer (again except the gpu).
The other option is jumping to AM5 now the build you made is a bit too lean,i understand money is the limiting factor but that build is about 150 or so away from being good, from being something that you can put together and know it will last you a while, you could use a better mobo, a better case and maybe a better cpu.

I tried to be fair with both options, let me know if i can help you further, and if you dont mind tell us where you are inthe world to check for prices.

>Maybe I can squeeze 150 idk, what do you recommend? 7700 as the other anon mentioned? b650?

I made this mock up list with the pieces you posted and then the three touchy points i picked options from slovakia just for some sort of reference, you would need to check those prices and availability on your store.

The case you literally can not buy a 19€ case, i understand going with the cheapest option but there is a reason we recommend certain cases, better airflow and easier building is worth it, even more so if you stick with the cpu's default cooler. So it doesnt have to be the case i picked (althought its a fantastic case) but please pick a better (50-60€ at least) well reviewed case.

Then the mobo, pick a b650, again it doesnt have to be the one i chose, just check what your store has available and get a well reviewed one, it will be more expensive than the one you chose, but it will also be worth it.

Then the cpu, thats where it probably gets out of budget because a 7700 it will be about 100€ more expensive just on its own, a 9600x is only about 30€ more expensive but that one requires to buy a cooler (you actually might want to buy a cooler for the other options but those come with an stock one while the 9600x doesn't). The problem is that while the 9600x is a better cpu its also a bit on the low side.

So if i had that build you posted and an extra 150 to sprinkle i would spend an extra 40-50 on the case, and extra 60 or so to get a b650 mobo and then with whatever is left ponder if you can get a 7700 and then if its possible get a 20 or so cooler, stock cooler's aren't that great. If you can't swing it and end up getting the 7600 thats perfectly fine. You might be able to upgrade it on the future if you get the chance to pick a better am5 chip in the future.

That build will handle 1080 and 1440p for a long while if you can eventually buy a 1400p screen.

Again check prices and part selection with the store you would have to use and let me know

The ID-COOLING & Thermalright offerings have some crazy value value (50 to 60$) no surprise but Lian Li's Lian Li Galahad II having the best results at super-low dBAs for only ~$100 did catch me off guard. Of course unless you are going with a 14900K, 285K, or 9950X it doesn't even make sense to not go air cooling anyway at the moment. Maybe when both companies boost their core counts with Zen 6/Nova Lake next year that will give make spending more than $30-40 on a CPU cooler make sense for most users and give OEMs a reason to innovate more (WHERE'S MY FUCKING CHEAP VAPOR CHAMBER AIR COOLERS AND THE GODDAMN THERMOSIPHON?)

No you don't. 120hz is kind of a sketchy target for am4 but for 1440p/4k it's realistically not much of an issue yet
>screwdriver toolkit on amazon
Set aside $100/200 every month, go to home depot, start building a collection of tools. I don't understand how all of you noggers can live with maybe just a screwdriver and a dull pocket knife in a drawer somewhere. You can start with a set of non electric screwdrivers and an air compressor that you can also use to dust your pc.
Also your mb and ram aren't explicitly linked to your mobo, they have the same connectors and everything now if that's what you're thinking.

bwos, can you give lend me your knowledge and advice? Right now my specs are

I want to spend 350 dollars on a new gpu, but can maybe go to 400 if absolutely needed. I am playing on 1080p, but use multiple monitors. Wanting to eventually get a 1440p monitor though too. I am still overall happy with my 1070's performance, but am struggling to play the most recent of games, like stellar blade and final fantasy. I'm also interested in ai chatbots and making comfy ai slop. So, I'm thinking about waiting for a good sale for a 5060 ti 16gb. Does that sound like a good pick for me? What's limiting is your budget. Ask yourself what do you do more often: game, or coom to anime girls?

If you can save for a few months for a proper card like a 5080 then do it. 5070 Ti wouldn't be a bad choice though.

Ignore the retard posting crash logs. 650w is fine for a 5070ti + 5600 but an upgrade to a more power hungry cpu would be questionable. Most am5 and 1851 processors would be fine, something like a 14900k or something in the future with a zillion cores, probably not.
5060ti isn't worth it without a discount for video games. It's significantly slower than a 5070 for not that much less money.
If you don't want to spend $750 buy a 5070, outside of 4k+ 12gb and the other cuts to the card aren't a big deal.
For reference in most games the difference between the 5070 and 5080 is smaller than 60tivs70 for 1080p and 1440p. At 4k it's +30ish% going to a 70ti, 50-60% going to an 80, and upwards to 2x going to a 90 depending on engine.

Solid recommendations, would probably go with the silverstone. That said I built in a phanteks enthoo evolv ATX years ago and liked their build quality. What do you think about the updated enthoo pro? It looks like they added a usb 3.1 gen 2 port to the front I/O in a refresh and it has 3 5.25 bays

Also the last PC case I got rid of was this coolermaster 690 II when I essentially gave it away to a friend with a full build inside. I'm not sure if I want to dump this Evolv ATX to someone considering how goddamned heavy it is and I don't really know anyone who would be interested. Selling it would be a pain in the ass considering shipping but I feel like a shitter leaving in the alley. What do people do with their old fucking cases? If you can find one in stock for a reasonable price it's a great option. The Enthoo line are fantastic as one of the last case series that still have a good support for a healthy number of internal 3.5" slots for HDDs in an era where getting more than 3-4 slots is becoming a chore and it's not like the case dimensions have even changed, we're just getting less mounting options for the same size/price.

it intakes from those little black slots on the front. There's two 140mm fans and a dust filter behind it. Lots of case mods focused on either increasing the distance between the metal front facade on the front via longer pegs or just straight up cnc'ing speed holes in it. Like I said, built like a tank and easy to work in but this was at the peak of form > function cases and nobody was really measuring thermals or airflow. Dark times.

Got a new mobo that sits my GPU lower in the case, the clearance under is is a little under an inch.
Was playing a game and noticed my GPU temps were hitting 100 (CPU was under 60).
I'm assuming it's because the dogshit clearance? Is there anything I can do about this other than get a new case?
>>
>>106894223
Yes it's the clearance
You should get a new case since that GPU offset is found on 99% of boards today and some boards even have it 1 slot power than that
>>
>>106894223
Can you add another fan inside the case propped beside the GPU blowing straight across it? Might be simpler and less expensive than replacing the whole case.
PSU shrouds are a fucking mistake and I'm glad my old case doesn't have cramping everything up inside and ruining the air circulation.

It's actually crazy how nobody seriously considers the 5070 for their builds. It's such a good GPU, but retards would rather get a 5060 Ti 16GB for muh VRAM, scam themselves with an AMD GPU, or go right up into the 5070 Ti, which is way too overpriced for the performance bump over the 5070 regular.
The main comparison I see is people getting the 9070 non-XT over the 5070 as they're "similarly priced". The 9070 is 50 euro more expensive and doesn't have DLSS. You might think the more VRAM and raster performance is worth it, but you'd be wrong - just test out FSR Quality and see how it can literally look worse than DLSS Balanced or even Performance. The 5070 will literally look and run better by utilizing DLSS, even more so with multiframegen that can bump you up from 80ish FPS to 165+ with good enough latency for singleplayer games.
>>
Why did they invent PSU shrouds? Use case?
>>
>>106894401
Because there are games which definitely butt up against the 12GB limit now with max settings. It will only get worse from here. I think their upselling strategy is bad here and if they gave the 5070 sixteen giggerydoos it would have turned AMD's single digit market share to single percent.

Just checked, no way to remove the shroud. Damn.
I moved a fan lower so it blows directly under the gpu, and I'm running it side-open, so I'll see if that drops be under 80. Otherwise I'll just get one of the cases in the OP.
Thanks, guys.

>Nontstop driver issues. DXGI_Hung, D3D_Lost, VK_DEVICE_REMOVED, Fatal Error, GPU Stopped Processing Commands.
That happens to me on my 3060TI, always paired with an nvlddmkm error 153 if i go to event viewer after the crash
Its supposedly related to the controller of the card but i have tried everything i have found in the internet to fix it and it still happens.
You just scared the shit out of me that i might end up with a 5070TI in the future and still get hit with the same issue

I will have to save up money but I think I will go for posted or similar am5 build. Also wanted to ask is there much difference between ryzen stock and X variant cpu? Also on reddit I've seen suggestions to build on top of am4 and wait for am6 but sounds silly, idk.

What kind of fuckery is this?
