Fuck this.

>virtue signal how I'm saving torrent health or whatever
so clearly you dont know what youre talking about, so youre a faggot
he's right, if everyone used this feature the network would perform worse.
torrents are not designed to be shared and downloaded like this, it is extremely selfish you are basically jumping into the queue and moving up the line, being very inconvenient to everyone else asking if you can budge infront
then when you get to the doorman he says 'fuck off' but u slip him $100 and he lets you go through.
yes its a nice feature but if you are treating torrents like streaming media instead of just, preplanning, growing a collection before you need to immediately watch it on demand.
then you are doing it wrong. (like literally, the point of torrenting it and owning it locally is to stop fuckups, stutters - which u get streaming)

by the nature of how the protocol was built, you can't have sequential download without harming the swarms health, so he's pretty based for rejecting your jewish suggestion.

If something is open source isn't it supposed that you can alter it for yourself?

What is the need of the troons to alter a foss app for the whole comunity?

actually it only really matters in first few hours when you're trying to grow the number of seeding peers exponentially. in a swarm of many 100% seeders it's no longer relevant.
but only low attention span proto-streamfags want sequential dl so not enabling them and their behavior means you're less likely to get hit and runs.
>>106926230
that there's no fucking need for sequential downloads for the vast majority of use cases.

You're not a real collector if you share. I want to preserve the rarity of the things in my collection, and ensure that new things remain as rare as possible. I would happily put an end to torrenting right now, just to ensure that no more people could ever try to rival my collection.
>>

Founder is rarely a CEO of a company. It's usually someone who has nothing to do with its creation
>>
>I'm gonna use feature that will tank the network and I don't care if it's gonna result in worse service for everyone including me because I'm very smart self-centered nihilist like all cool guys I saw on tv
This is why torrents should've remained invite only. The moment you make something accessible to normalfags they will destroy it like a swarm of insects

>>106923874
It's better for everyone not to do this. When everyone downloads a random part of the torrent, they can share with each other quicker and everyone has a faster download.
If everyone downloads the same part (the beginning), that doesn't happen.

Maybe it could be auto-enabled when the torrent already has many seeders and when it's a known video format that actually benefits from it. But it shouldn't be a global default.

>>106923874
Is this a thirdy thing? I've never really understood the point in streaming a torrent. A full movie takes minutes to download these days, and if you really just 100% need to watch the movie this very second. Just go to one of the millions of pirate streaming sites.

The torrent protocol and clients are optimized for slow DSL from 20 years ago and has not adapted well to modern use cases.

Sequential streaming established public torrents is mostly fine since there is usually plenty of bandwidth to go around with today's high speed isps and seed boxes.

Another major flaw with the torrent clients is that they mandate the ledbat algorithm when using udp. Udp is much better for natted connections and vpns without port forwarding but ledbat makes it like 10x slower on a fast VPN connection.
>>
>>106923899
qBittorrent should highlight IPs which request a sequential bits to download so that the based seeders could simply restrict their upload bandwidth to the hit and run leecher fags
>>

>>
>>106923874
why would you need sequential for more than one file at a time?
>>
>>106923947
>>106924243
Any torrent with decent retention rates (IE private trackers) won't have this problem. Plus, as long as the default application behavior is to prioritize least common pieces, the vast majority of people will never change it, and they'll be downloading the file in reverse order to offset this on a larger swarm.

It's literally a non-issue unless you have the majority of people sequentially downloading a poorly seeded torrent with shit upload speeds, which is rare because upload speeds aren't 384k DSL anymore. Even in such a situation, it's easily solved by having seeding clients default to initial seed mode if there's fewer than 3 or 4 total copies of every piece the swarm. Initial seeding hands out pieces to individual clients, and then puts them on the absolute bottom of the queue until that piece shows up elsewhere. If someone is the only seed they can already do this and there's literally nothing an infinite swarm of sequential only leechers can do about it. They'll get the file in whatever order the seeder makes it available until there's multiple copies within the swarm. If someone isn't the only seeder, or if there's sufficient partial copies, then the swarm isn't unstable to begin with, so who gives a fuck?

>>106929929
This too. If a torrent takes less than an hour to download, swarm stability isn't realistically compromised by sequential downloads because there's sufficient bandwidth available to quickly replicate missing blocks.

>>106930236
I've impulse downloaded quite a few shows and movies over the years and watched them immediately. By the time you take a leak and grab a snack, you can have enough of a buffer downloaded to start watching it. It's not like I'd die if I couldn't do that, and I've had instances over the years where there wasn't enough bandwidth to watch a 4k remux immediately, but it's definitely a nice little quality of life thing to grab something a friend recommended and be watching it within 2 minutes.
>>
Tixati has a hybrid mode where you can customize the percent of pieces that it downloads sequentially

Why can't that be done dynamically based on full copies/download/upload speed
>>
>>106931668
Watching six porns at once, obviously.
>>
>>106926114
LLM use is fine but you're being deceptive about it. You didn't write anything beside the prompt that generated code for you.
