Will the minimal phone work on AT&T? People on reddit say it works except calls dont, and they have to put their phone in airplane mode then turn off airplane mode and then it works with outgoing calls. Some people say it works perfectly. I have AT&T and want to buy the phone but dont want calls to not work. Also post some phones that are 'minimal phones' that would be good to buy.

Any suggestions?

AT&T are TURBOniggers. If it's not on their IMEI whitelist, you aren't getting VoLTE, and that's the only way to make calls now. If the FCC actually fucking did what it supposed to, this would be illegal and they'd be fined. Regulatory capture means they can handwave it away as "ensuring network stability" or "service quality" or whatever other horseshit legalese they use to justify it.
TL;DR if you actually want to use whatever device you want, switch to T-Mobile or some alternative MVNO like Google Fi or Mint or visible or something

A regular phone won't even work on AT&T

This is what made me switch from BB10 to Android

Don't use Mint; they're somehow worse than AT&T. If they don't sell the phone model, then it most likely isn't on their whitelist; I know some people with European and Asian Samsung flagships that could not use Mint at all.
