high pressure air fill send the dust flying, you wanna do that outside unless you want to make your room dusty
I bought one of those battery powered turbofans from temu, it works great it dusting out my case and keyboard and stuff, but yeah i have to take it outside. Also I prefer to charge it while I'm nearby and on a non flammable surface in case the chinks make it remotely explode

AMD's going to walk it back, RDNA2 will get game optimizations.
But it's not a coincidence that this was announced around 2 years (or less) before PS6 and next-gen Xbox dev kits are expected to be out.
AMD's gaming unit is pulling resources towards UDNA/RDNA5.

NVIDIA won because Jensen understood that sw is as importnat as hw. He even went to ATI/AMD when CUDA launched almost 20 years ago and asked if they want to license it for cents. ATI/AMD laughed at him and see where they are now compared to him.
AMD/ATI are just incompetent and greedy.
Nvidia is competent and greedy.

Did anyone else get FUCKED around 5-10 years ago when upgrading GPU, just to realize "oh fuck", they've removed the fucking VGA and DVI ports from modern cards!!
I sure did. Had to go out and buy a 1080p monitor with HDMI support. I would've been rocking my 1366x768 TN pile of junk until today if they still made GPUs with analog out.

So if my CPU is supported out of the box, why should I bother with flashing bios from the thumb drive before instaling the CPU? Is the bios flashing somehow better than just updating the bios after assembling everything?

Asuming everything works of course.

I literally went downtown on a Sunday checking every shop that was open, and none of them had VGA to HDMI adapters, so I just went home with the cheapest 1080p IPS I could find. Still using it as a second monitor nowadays, it's pretty good despite limited to 60 Hz.

Yeah, right. While consuming a fuckton more power, generating a lot more heat, and not supporting any modern upscaling tech. Even FSR4 isn't quite as good as DLSS4, and these cards don't even have THAT.
5070 literally beats the more expensive and more power hungry 9070XT if you use DLSS4 Performance vs FSR3 Quality, to match visual fidelity.

I'm running a 9800X3D on a B850 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 and noticed something weird. My CPU only pulls around 110–115W max under full load in Cinebench, temps stay around 72–73°C.

My buddy’s got the same chip but on a B850-F ROG Strix, and his pulls about 150W and hits almost 90°C — yet he scores quite a bit higher than me.

I’m using the BIOS settings for X3D CPUs, and only the 2x4-pin CPU power connector is plugged in (the 2x2 is empty).

Any idea what could be causing this? Could it be a power limit or BIOS thing?
>>
>>107063396
add 9600/X as an option if used strictly for gayming and no video editing, blender or CAD; whichever of the two is cheaper
could go matx if it has enough I/O and is cheaper than atx, 2 DIMM slots isn't an issue because you're not running 4 sticks unless you're productivitying
could run this on 650W as well if really struggling for budget
if used GPU is an option could get a 3080 12GB or 3080 Ti for like 300-350 euro and stay with the 750W PSU, it's between the 5060 Ti and 5070 in performance, closer to the 5070 actually
>>
>>107063396
Close, but there's a cheaper board and a better PSU for just $5 more.
I'd get that PSU for sure. Not amazing, but you won't find a better PSU for $70.
7700X is a bit cheaper and better binned than the non-X; use all the savings on a CPU cooler.

second person that questions the cpu so im assuming i chose a dud
im open to suggestions and will check the 9600/x
I wanted to keep it atx and not matx just out of convenience, is not that the matx are that much cheaper and im not the most experienced builder (this would be my third put together pc) so i rather have the extra real state
Trying to keep it all new parts for reference but i personally will check for used gpu just in case when im ready to pull the trigger.

If it's just for games especially with a low-midrange gpu do a 9600, 9600x, or 7600x. There's not even usually uplift over the r5 in games
Alternatively if you need the multicore Intel does it quite a bit better on the midrange. The 14600k is $200 and a bit faster than a 7700, and the 265k is $300 and while it will be worse off by default in most games it's otherwise way faster in like everything else.

I spent 20 fucking minutes trying to yank the motherboard cable out after testing it and no I didn't forget about the clip it just doesn't want to move either direction.

Thought I was either going to break the motherboard or my fingers, probably did both.
There's no way I could ever undo any of them again.
If this thing doesn't fucking work I'm shooting it and then myself and using my old comp for the rest of my life.
Still have little cables in the back to figure out where they plug in and the AIO and GPU. As long as nothing major goes wrong I think I can finish it today.

Could use some advice, I'm still researching but I think this cable is the pwm header that controls the fans? Does that sound right? Any idea where I should plug it in? There's like 6 fan header plug in spots on the motherboard, do I just pick the closest one or does it need to be the first one?
>>
>>107064088
Last gen AMD is precisely, exactly as bad as it’s ever been. Game ready drivers mean jack shit but missing FSR4 is so embarrassing.

You can connect that PWM fan cable to any of the board's fan headers (except for the one labeled CPU/CPU Pump).
>>
I don't know how anyone could possibly buy an amd gpu if you are only going to get 3 years of driver support.
>>
>>107064134
Read your motherboard manual, some boards have retarded restrictions on specific fan headers?
Or just connect the fans to motherboard directly. How many fans do you have that you need to use a case pwm splitter?
>>
>>107064134
There are several spots in the mobo so that you have a close spot for the fans you installed in the psu shroud, another for the exhaust fan on the back, for the ones on the front of the case.
So you should use the closest one while keeping in mind where the others will go
The aio should have its own one called cpu fan or cpu pump as the other anon mentioned

The cpu pump one will power well the pump of the aio but not the fans
You want the fans of the aio on the cpu_fan cause that one will have a sensor for the cpu temp and allows you to control the fan speed against the cpu temperature
sys_fan is a more "overall" header for the case fans those can still be controlled with software so that they increase in speed at certain temperatures
>>
>>107064276
Whatever you say man, if I didn’t notice a difference from something that cost like $200, I’m not very inclined to spend 5x the price to drive my $30 speakers. Most users are wasting their money on a DAC.

only if your headphones don't need to be amp'd, or you're fine getting a separate amp and using a 3.5mm to dual RCA for the amp input.

The dongle is fine, but slightly annoying for higher power headphones and i'd personally rather just have a nicer amp/DAC combo device.

One more question, this is the only part of the manual I couldn't figure out. There's nothing pre connected in the case, the motherboard box came with a few cables that look like they might plug into the usb 2.0 spot but they are pretty short and I have no clue where to plug the other end into? I'm completely lost on what to do here all the builds I watched never even mentioned this plug.
>>
>>107064436
You might not have a peripheral that requires those cables.
You should be fine as long as you properly connect all the case's front panel cables.
>>
>>107064227
By not installing the audio drivers from your motherboard's support page. Out of the box Windows just uses its own drivers, which just gives out the unprocessed signal without any shitty filter. Which is what I'm expecting when using speakers with a subwoofer.

I tend to agree with the anon who says your intake fans (or lack thereof) are the problem. Ive had that exact issue in several customer Pc’s before, usually in cases where they’ve gone with an AIO and stock case fans, which can often be set to exhaust only in some fish tank cases for example. I just looked at the 4000D and it looks like it comes with 3 front intake fans stock? Is there some reason you can’t use those or you don’t have them for whatever reason? The AIO should go on top as I think you have it with the fans set to intake air from the top. Keep the front fans as intake and use one top mounted rear exhaust fan. That should give you a nice positive pressure setup.

Fuccccck this was stressful, had to juggle holding the pump and paste thing without accidentally banging the pump on something. Then getting it screwed I was really uncertain. They went in but felt like they could just keep turning forever. But I read warnings saying not to tighten them too much. I turned until there was solid resistance and then just a hair more. I tried to move it and it wouldn't budge. Hopefully it was the right amount of force.
The hardest part was getting those fucking wires plugged in and out of the way though. The stupid radiator was blocking most of my angle and with my fat fingers it was so fucking difficult. I was basically flying blind just feeling for the right spot and praying. It's not going to look as good as the professionals but I did my best to get the wires out of the way as much as I could.

Just the GPU and putting all the panels back together. I'm trying to figure out the right way to install it. My motherboard comes with a button I circled and when I press it, it moves a clip a little bit forwards or backwards. I know it's to make it so you can easily release the gpu when you want to take it out. But I'm not sure which position it should be in when I install it. Should I have it pulled back and then press the button to lock it in or do I have it in and the gpu pressure will push it out naturally?
>>
>>107066100
to be fair 5 years for a gpu with pathetic market share is rather reasonable
you're incentivized into buying a better gpu and everyone wins out

There is an order to do things to make it easier. Do all the mobo plugs first. It helps to lay case down on its side when installing the AIO. Screw in the rad first. Wrap the CPU end and keep it to the side so it doesn't bang components. Gentle hands and take your time. I can see why a lot of reddit noobs end up fucking up builds.

he can't launch star citizen now with the latest drivers

He didn't appreciate my comment that those drivers would be better since they are more modern AND stop him from playing that game, so win win

Oh man that 12v cpu plug actually went in smooth, which was a great thing because I fucked it up and didn't realize I couldn't close up the case the way I pulled it though so had to unplug and resnake it twice before I found a length that worked. I'm so tired and I still have to set it all up. Friend is coming over in a few minutes to help me get the screen on the monitor arm and the final setup. Then I have to pray it all works. Will probably take me a while before I can get back online. If all goes well I'll show off everything later tonight or tomorrow. Cases are something you can really skimp on if on a tight budget. I went with full chinesium ~150ron ones until lately
At the very least make sure it comes with 2-3 fans and front I/O is decent enough. Sure, the metal quality is gonna be garbo and they will likely have sharp edges but it really is what it is
More spacious ones will accommodate bigger GPUs in the future if need be
Or even better, you could scout local PC repair shops for freebies. Used local ones should be 50ron or so, too

How's this any different from NVidia refusing to let you use stuff like DLSS and Frame Generation natively on 20XX and 30XX cards?

latest dlss upscaling advancements work on the rt gpus, eg 20xx and 30xx
transformer model merely has slightly lower perf impact on 40xx and 50xx but you can still enable it in games for ampere
frame gen then has additional hardware requirements and is limited to 40xx and 50xx but its also better quality than amds fsr so
>>
>>107068055
DLSS and all of it's updates are still available on Turing, and it's performant even after it switched from cnn to transformer too. Transformer ray reconstruction is even there and it's too heavy to be usable on any of the cards anyways.
Both iterations of framegen are using hardware only on ada and blackwell (I think...)
Smooth motion I don't see why it's not on Turing, it sucks ass and is comparable to fsr-framegen anyways though
>>
>>107068055
DLSS4 works on RTX 20 and 30 series cards.
NVIDIA's latest version of Frame Generation (even excluding multi-frame generation) utilizes more tensor core resources since they've upgraded the algorithm.
The fact that no one has been able to mod a usable (nearly imperceptible artifacts) RTX FG for 20 and 30 series cards shows this isn't some conspiracy like the leaked INT8 FSR4 model.

If some people think NVIDIA's unnecessarily utilizing AI cores for FG, that's exactly what AMD's planning to do with their upgraded FG model.
Intel's XeSS FG also involves AI accelerators (XMX hardware requirement).

It's not the tensor cores. New Nvidia cards have a new fixed function display engine. Older cards are literally incapable of using the new features. Not that much different from AMD locking HAGS because older cards don't have the hw scheduler.

>GTX 1660
>24 GB ram
>I5-9400f
>The rest like the mobo etc is all OEM dogshit
I basically want to build a new pc because while I dont play many modern games there is a few I want to play specifically Ninja Gaiden 4, The next game from ShiftUp, Dynasty Warriors origins, new RE games etc. My current pc can run some of these games but barely at low-medium 1080p with heavy fsr. My budget for a build revolving around gaming is around $1200-1500 max, 1440p is really the goal, I dont care about 4k. I also cant use dlss on my card which always sucks since I usually get stuck using fsr3. I live in the U.S (New York). One other note is im semi interested in local ai generation with Wan, however if that conflicts with me wanting a solid gaming build then I can give that up.

Give me one reason why a gaming PC should cost more than this.

1080p is all you need and you can still upgrade to literally next gen performance with a 5800X3D and a 9060XT in 5 years when parts go down on the used market.

This plays literally 99% of indies and games at 100fps+ its only UE5 woke slop like silent hill woke, awoked or outer woke 2.

Name me one game that is GOOD that struggles to play on this setup.

Also the pixio prime monitor is one of the best 1080p monitors out there it has like 110% SRGB color gamut with good contrast, low latency and freesync. better than any LG IPS shit with garbage contrast and colors.

I've used 4K before. Fom amazon I bought an expensive 4k 144hz gaming monitor and I returned it and went back to 1080p because the difference wasn't good enough for me to notice for the performance tradeoff lol.

I have 20/20 vision and sit 3 feet away from my monitor.

I literally could not give a shit about slightly crisper visuals when 1080p looks fine. You 4K faggots make it seem like you can see the pixels on a 1080p monitor when you can't. It literally looks almost the same except in games where something is really far away and you get more crisp outlines and visuals at a distance.

The only literal upside is that I now have space to place my AIO radiator up top instead of in front and I have 3 intake fans in the front of my case now

Wondering if I should return and re-swap to my original case since nothing really changed

I promise im not an intel cpu hater but if you kept your old pc for that long and might want to keep this new rig for that much time you might want to get an amd cpu/mobo as they support these architectures for longer
That way in a few years you can slot a new chip on your mobo and it will work with your ram
Also i personally find the AIO picked by anon pretty suspicious
About the 7800x3d those chips shine in specific type of games, namely MMOs, Big ass city builders that end up with massive maps, autism sims (factorio), and multiplayer shooters.
If you are playing mainly say... souls likes, metroidvanias, sony action movie games, survival horror etc you will be fine with the 9600x
