ngl it's kind of hard caring about these threads any more because it's all about which shill manages to get the OP these days
you can't take an OP seriously when they refuse to have nvidia gpus recommendations. right into the trash it goes
like if you haven't noticed amd gpus are severely overpriced anywhere else than the US and are just not a good buy any more

This is a lie. 9070 XT can be found for 650 USD in most places now. 100 dollar discount is not that bad. You can get a higher tier mobo or higher capacity ssd with that money.

Alright so I'm kind of freaking the fuck out right now because my new just built AM5 pc is seemingly stuck memory training. I turned it on and let it go for a whole hour even, still no post. WTF DO I DO?!

I appreciate the mini mod work you have been doing pointing out nicotroons necro posts and such but accusing a random person asking for help is just dumb. I looked it up in the archive that is an original post and while it does have an anime pic it isn't from any of.the series the nicotroon is known to post

AM5 takes a while but an hour seems excessive
Just check your build again, cables, connections, make sure the ram is in the correct slots and try again.

You can have that 5090 right now. Today. It's that simple.
0% interest.
With inflation it'll work out you paying even less every single month.
You'd be crazy not to get it.

Geforce Now? 5090 Now!

Anon with the 4080/Ryzen 7-5800 from the last thread. I think there might have been some confusion about what I'm trying to do.
>have aforementioned hardware
>and a BenQ EX2510 monitor running 1920x1080 @144Hz
>current hardware is bottlenecking bad on framerate because processor
And by that I mean I can fuck with the graphics settings all day and not get much improvement. Eg. standing outside Lizzie's in Cyberpunk, I get around 70-80FPS with or without ray-tracing and all that high-end shit going.
>upgrade goal: stop bottlenecking the 4080, get framerates better matched to a 144Hz monitor

I HATE WINDOWS I HATE WINDOWS I HATE WINDOWS
can someone please just make a competitive alternative for fuck's sake why the hell can microsoft get away with a global monopoly in everything not related to making fucking youtube videos or something holy shit I'm so fucking tired of this garbage breaking all the time PLEASE

Micro Center has the 7800X3D on sale for $279.99, which is temptingly low. The 9800X3D is on sale for $429.99 by comparison.

I want to eventually go with the CPU after the 9xxx series, whatever the fuck AMD is calling it, but it should stay with the AM5 socket.

Was thinking of upgrading with the cheapass 7800X3D in the interim and get an X870E board, then just get the new CPU whenever that is.

Question is, worth doing that or just suck it up and pay the extra $150 for the 9800X3D. Realistically they are very, very close in performance but the 7800X3D is a hot bitch. Cant beat the sale price, though.

I know they had some issues on launch with gaming but I assume most of that is fixed.

For reference, I will be using my same PSU/GPU, etc, just swapping out my board and CPU/RAM since I am on AM4 currently.
>>
>>107085119
The 9800X3D should cost $350 maximum it's insane people are paying $400-$500 for an 8 core CPU
>>
>>107085135
That is why its current price tag is a go fuck yourself AMD tier to me. I am buying it for gaming but its still too expensive, and seems to be dropping in price extremely slowly. I really dont think itll be at or below $400 for blick friday

What's the average amount of ssds I can have connected to a motherboard? 4 right? I have yet to see any other mobo with more than 4 sata ports.
>>
>>107086870
on that note, how good are these PCI-E cards that have additional SATA ports? or which ones of these PCI-E cards are good?
>>
>>107088071
LSI 9305 HBA in either 8i or 16i
9300 is an option but only the 8i, the 16i version is a power hog
You'll need mini SAS HD to sata cables.

All pure sata cards are kinda crap. They are extremely variable for some reason. You can get one and it works ok with little issues, other times you get one and it causes CRC errors on your HDD, some of them will make drives randomly dissappear.
It's really a roll of the dice. 95% of them are Asmedia and people report plenty of issues in either PCIe form or integrated into motherboards.

i can't decide what monitor i want.
>32":
AOC U32V11N/71 31.5"
>27":
AOC 27G11ZE2/71 27" FHD
AOC Q27G4F/71 27" QHD
Gigabyte GS27Q X 27" QHD

I don't want to go over $300 for it.

what video card brand would have the best compatibility for older (2008+) games? And what specific generation? I'm looking to build a PC to play stuff like Dark Souls 1, 2, 3, their DLCs, Bioshock 1, 2, etc. I basically want to go back and be able to play older titles without having to worry about drivers shitting the bed because my GPU is too new. At the same time, I do want at least acceptable performance come newer titles such as Apex legends and other such battle royale games I play with my friends.
>>
>>107091069
Any gpu with vulkan. That includes Adreno, AMD, Intel, Mali, Videocore etc
>>
>>107091126
Are the newer AMD GPUs vulkan based? 9070XT would be nice if it means I can go back and play older titles without problems. It's AMD's top card right now which means I'd get some good performance in new titles.
>>
>>107091150
AMD and Nvidia both work with vulkan.
You can convert older directdraw/dx7/8/9/11 games to vulkan with cheeky dll files.
