I'm going to power shoryuken the cloud into the mothafuckin stratosphere in some totally legal and lawful manner as soon as I figure out the way to do it without committing a crime./gug/
if i do 50 hours a week i can earn 10k/month. overtime is so worth it, if the job is easy and i basically get paid to travel/fly too. if it was salary i won't get OT, but maybe would have more pay?
Wake me up when the geek uprising begins.jeets and AI: your time has come, fear it, expect it, and you had better believe it.

imo the best jobs have a low indian count. when there's few of them, they won't be able to inflict their toxicity over the entire company. best coworkers have always been asian, and then whites/latinos. the only time i feared for my safety was when i was teamed up with a black woman who had psychological issues and would lose it frequently, but was hard to fire due to discrimination laws. there are also some really smart black coworkers though, don't get me wrong, it's just kinda rare.

>>107087691Jews have this exact concept too they call it being a 'freier'

>engineers then would have big brass plates installed on things they designed to say who they were and how great this bridge or building or whatever is gonna be >engineers today obsfucate their work 9001 times over and remove their names from all documents having to do with the finished work, if you try to find who is responsible for a particular feature they'll cancel you on twitterit should be law that your name has to go on things you do so we know who to have killed when it doesnt work

>>107092417>>company sec team is 100% jeets>>they manage an appwhat the fuck is your company doing? why does your sec team have even a single jeet? why are they managing apps? that's not what security does...
>>107092442Our ciso is a completely non technical individual who somehow changed careers from being a finance manager to a security director in one move, without any certifications or experience, then inevitably made it up to ciso level about 5-6 years ago.The security director is a yes man boomer on his way out just trying to get as many checks as possible before he retires, and hasn't been responsible for any actual work in probably 2 decades. So they outsourced nearly the entirety of security to India, there is one American guy on the team and hes the principal of cloudsec. To make this even funnier for you, its actually a rather major company, with about 6000 employees, has satellite offices in many countries, and also works closely with the US federal government and has major contracts.Yeah, shit is fucking unbelievable.

>>107092843Because everything is being outsourced to India, including security. As for why he is a yes man boomer, no idea, but hes 100% a bitch doing everything he can to avoid making waves over the next few years. I've seen how little he gives a fuck on calls, and even when pressed its near impossible to get anything useful out of him, and he just agrees with whatever the CISO says.

We're at the end of a civilization. It doesnt matter if it takes 10, 50, 100 years, the west is dead.Assyrians Babylonians Egyptians Greeks Romans- all these civilizations died. But somehow ours won't? It's over.
>>107092948We certainly seem to be approaching an inescapable point of rapid decline globally. Shadow wars being fought across the globe, actual wars which are threatening to pull in opposing powers, sharply declining birth rates, such that they think we'll never even reach 9billion pop even with jeets, automation obliterating jobs at obscene rates and those people ending up being permanently displaced career wise, a whole new caste of individual being created specifically for India with them blackmailing countries into taking their workers (literally). Israel trying to get the entire world to turn on them to fulfill some bullshit jewslop talmudic prophecy and using the US as its puppet with ziondon. The future ain't exactly looking bright. I was recently transferred over from my old team to the devops team. Before I worked for a small startup as sort of a nebulous cloud operations/sysadmin/general IT guy (no CS background), but now we got acquired and I was shipped over to the devops team after a few months of mostly fucking around. We're a satellite team and so most of the guys float and do work for the teams that they themselves got transferred from before. My old team is in utter disarray so most days I don't have anything from them that I need to do, so I'm mostly just fucking around. I feel like I'm barely learning anything and I'm worried about when my manager's finally going to give me real shit to do. At least I'm making good money, I suppose. Can't get PIP-ed if nobody cares about my performance. Otherwise in my personal time and when work is really fucking slow I'm picking through a couple roadmap.sh pages.

When I was a new grad the go-to line after a recruiter gives you an offer and you want to sit on it before negotiating, your excuse was to say you wanted to discuss it with your family. That makes sense as a new grad who presumably still lives with their parents. It also makes sense if you're in your 30s or above and have a wife and kids. I've gotten 0 replies from the recruiter or even the L2.It's impossible that I'm still in the running for this job... right?Pic related, mfw a multimillion dollar company wasted a month of my life and kept me dangling for no apparent reason other than to just fuck with me.

>>107099117Oh, that's great, ok so new manager is in the loop. Yeah, as long as you definitely do not hide that you want work and have availability then you should be good to go. I give you between 2-6 months A comfy job where you're not learning anything always feels a little sucky since it feels like you're trapped. The comfy job is worth it though. Remember that you'll have 40 hours a week to learn (and if you're actually passionate about this stuff and don't have debilitating vices like a drug or phone addiction you WILL learn on your own time during times you are bored) when you get laid off. I tried doing the whole "I'm flexible and open to discuss with you" weasel during an initial interview with a recruiter for a defense position and they doubled down and we're like "just getting an initial number would be good to get the ball rolling". Asking for work-life balance would be a red flag if e.g I was a Silicon Valley startup CEO so it goes both ways If you're getting interviews even with consultancies you're still doing great. This hiring era compared to early 2024 feels much more focused on recruiters and consultancies being a middle-man to vouch for competence now that the technical interview is dead >>107101797There's no such thing as "transferrable experience" retard, you just practice the right things to say based on the job listing, or you learn on your own time.
>>107101834The thing is I have saved up plenty of money and I get a lot of calls from recruiters, so fortunately I'm in a position where I'm not desperate and therefore I can filter out any job that could be a trap. Got yet another reminder of how bad I am at thinking on my feet.In this case, I was to diagnose a PC that wouldn't boot. It wasn't the RAM, resetting CMOS didn't help, and this PC had onboard graphics. I was about to try swapping the CPU, going so far as to take off the cooler, when I recalled another odd incident and decided to try replacing the power supply. It was the power supply. So then I had to get the cooler back on. I somehow got the idea that I would have to take the motherboard off (this looked to be a pretty cheap case). I got most of the motherboard screws off before I learned that the motherboard does indeed come off.And to top it off, it somehow never occurred to me to inform the customer of the diagnostic fee until the job is done. I got too caught up in the assumption that the job was going to be a quickie until it was clear it wasn'tMaybe I should stop doing diagnostics in front of the customer, but what if it does turn out to be something small and the customer already left?

>>107102373Meh i haven't used AI in any format. But the reality is this place is at least honest if not painfully anecdotal.
>>107102165can you share the diffs here? I'm sure there are anons here who would appreciate easier sexy children on their machine
>>107102387Nah, I would disagree with honest. they're just looking to beef with anything.
Anyone else just feel like they are trying to hold on to their (shitty) job right now with how bad the market is, so that in a few years you can job hop? I hate where I currently am, but the market is so shit I can't even get callbacks for anything else. 4 years ago I had recruiters clamoring over me.
>>107102410Everyone here. I feel like I'm the only one writing shit on the wall while everyone seems to just be in lala land and sip the kool aid.
>>107098473Red hat linux cert, CISSP, Masters degree in Cyber security and any GIAC cert then you are fine.
>>107102410personally i'd be annoyed and disheartened if i lost my new job but was already financially comfortable, kinda. and if i keep this job and don't move LE UP OR OUT in 5 years, I would probably start looking for a new one because I am basically an IT monkey, just on an exotic system. The pay, while comfortable, isn't amazing either.
>>107102410yesJob market has been fucked all year. People who say it will recover soon are copingIf you have a job right now, don't leave unless your boss is raping you or something. The chance you'll find a better one are slim to none
>>107102525>don't leave unless your boss is raping you or something. >go to work>get creampied by boomers all shift instead of doing any actual worknot seeing the problem
>>107102410Yep, I had a great job with an awesome Work/Life balance and the company was acquired. Guess what happened next? Layoffs, and I was impacted. It was the comfiest 2.5 years of my career, even if there were times when I had to put a lot of hours the company knew how to reward that effort. Now I'm a contractor so because of the nature of contracts I'm looking for something more permanent, but I'm very picky about them. I just want to chill and have a normal job with normal demands and working hours.
>new PM is turning chill job into sweatshop>UHM HOW LONG IS THAT GOING TO TAKE?i don't fucking know faggot leave me the fuck alone
You guys have PMs?
>>107102590I'm the PM, the BA and the dev.
Good morning sirsOur team velocity has been low. We need to increase our team velocity. Everyone should take double the amount of stories each week
>>107102599>mfw PM/BA/Dev oh and you can't talk to the actual team to figure out what they want or even what they're doing today otherwise their VP will have a shit fit that we're trying to change something.bro what the fuck gay shit office politics is this
>>107102228I blogpost all the time but have never been told to fuck off, at worst I get ignored, at best I get a friendly TJDIt’s comfy
How is FAA/Airfield IT? I am thinking of moving over for more job security.
>>107102799i've heard it's all win98 boxes in maintenance and have seen first hand that the stuff that drives displays is XP and Win Server 08
>>107102799I have a friend who does some kind of coding for the FAA and he likes it. Works remote and fucks around a lot as far as I can tell.
>>107102821I am uniquely qualified since i never touched XP but i messed with Win 98 and Win 7. >>107102826Any clue what language he is learning?
>>107102590I am the PM
>>107102860boomer places like that always harp on needing experience with these ancient OS's but really all they're looking for is that you don't hit the windows button and start typing like it's W10 and don't burst into treats upon seeing COM.EXEluckily if you're a le power user on a windows box at home, most of the stuff you use to unfuck things haven't changed much since Win 3.1
My new prospective employer has been ordering equipment, including e-waste that I didn't request and nobody told me about, like their life depended on it. Meanwhile sending me the contract was clearly a lower priority since the email with the contract arrived later than a courier at my door.Just finished reading the contract and had to send a long list of notes to HR.
>>107102590We just got a new project manager and the first thing he says on his first call is "why doesn't anyone turn their webcam on? I'm going to get people to start doing that"Always a good idea to piss everyone off and change how a team does shit on your first day
>>107102919lowkey I think the entire reason I got promoted was because I was one of the only people on the team to always have my webcam on in meetings. My boss said I was a strong "culture driver" and "leader" when I literally do nothing except have my webcam on
>>107102970>>107102919boomers became OBSESSED with video telecon during coofi think it's because when they were young the "video phone" was the futurism thing coming in two weeks trust ze plan and now it's finally here, cheap, and prolific
>>107102891Thanks anon
>>107102919I managed to keep my webcam off despite manager requests to start doing it. Now I'm unemployed!
I don't get old types at all. am I fucked?
>>107103014If you are 25 then you are old faggot.
>>107103019naw
>>107103070Here is your management team they are all 24yr and have been working in the industry before you were born. Can you please max out your 401k so these old fucks can retire off of your inputs.
