Is fancontrol still recommended to monitor fans and such? Do I even need to do that? Looking to get a decent 1440p monitor and primarily one with good visual fidelity. I dislike the degradation problems of oled and their exorbitant price tags so that seems to really only leave va panel monitors with local dimming but i can't figure out if there are any actually worth getting or not.>KTC M27T6 (miniLED)Why is the KTC M27T6 recommended over the aoc q27g40xmn? My main worry with getting a va panel is black smear and vrr flicker, which from tech reviews doing in depth testing on each of these monitors, the aoc appears to have far far less black smear then the KTC and also good vrr flicker. And as a general question, i've been using decent or worse 1080p ips or tn monitors all my life basically so how bad are va panels really for competitive fps or fast paced games? Every review or discussion i find around va panel monitors always says the same truism about them that they're good for content consumption or slow paced single player games and NOT anything competitive but they never quantify it in any meaningful way. So is it like "technically the problem's there but on a good panel you probably won't notice" or is it "literally unplayable no matter what"?

Can you quantify it? I don't play too many competitive games anymore but on rare occasion i still do and since I've never owned a va monitor i'm trying to figure out how dramatically it effects the experience of using it, like on a scale of 'totally unnoticeable' to 'so blatant the monitor sucks to use'. If it's minor and ignorable/hard to notice for the most part then i think i'd be fine with it but all anyone ever seems to say is that it's there rather then to what degree it presents during use.
>>107138211>Do you really need that many drive bays?Nah, I was originally just looking for a larger case because for some reason despite being a big box my 680x cant fit the higher end cards. The Meshify 3 can fit 350mm cards which is only slightly longer than the 680x (but it might be enough), but all the other cases in the ATX and dual chamber sections of the OP can fit 375mm, many of them are 400mm or even 450mm.

>>107138070I would suggest a mac mini and buy a usb 4 nvme (maiwo brand is cheap), and nvme (if you need the storage).the igpu will be a lot weaker (by 2x), but you got the student discount. If you want to run windows games, crossover runs fine, it's not free but if you did pay, you will keep it forever but you wont get updates. But note that you can't run Asahi linux on apple m4, probably not for a couple of years. And if you intend on taking the laptop to school, you should get applecare for it. on amazon, the macbook air is pretty cheap right now. It would make a lot of sense if you don't have a monitor, since the cost of the monitor + keyboard + mouse does add up to the same price (what doesn't add up, is the ram and ssd space, but it doesn't matter much if you use external storage, and technically you could try to set up a network storage thing, but I expect it to be painful). If you insist on a PC, I would suggest splurging on a 5060 or 9060 8gb (it will hold up significantly longer). And if you dual boot with linux, you should just buy 2 nvmes, it's better to keep them on separate drives.
Looking for a mid tower or bigger case that can be vertical or horizontal. Must be able to stack them also, so no glass side panel or dual chamber bullshit.

Help me out bros.Earlier this year I built a new PC and I'm still having this reoccurring issue when doing emulation gaming, playing video files or using windows explorer where it'll randomly freeze for 20-30 seconds. This happens usually at least once on a daily basis. I have no idea what's causing it but I have an idea it might be my CPU because I once got an alert from the AMD software that my drivers had crashed or something like that. It's a 7800X3D and it's my first AMD CPU. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is that just how AMD shit is?

Unfortunately i've found out that the local dimming setting for the aoc completely locks brightness at max with no ability to control it for some bizarre reason which has made me loose almost all desire to get it. I don't know why tf they thought that was a good idea when the previous version didn't do that. There's no way i'd want to run it at max brightness all the time and like 90% of the appeal is it's better blacks through dimming so I guess i'm just back to waiting for something better to come around.

What peripherals do I need to plug into USB 3.2?
>>107140049Nothing? I don't really see any consumer grade device that would ever saturate a full USB 3.2 port. Closest ones I can think of are SSD enclosures, like NVMe to USB enclosures. So I just built a brand new PC but I asked LLM to suggest me a good CPU and it said Ryzen 5 7600 so I bought it, but after that I realized that the cutoff date of all public LLMs is 2024 so it couldn't have known about the 9xxx series. Anyways apparently I've bought an old CPU, just how bad did I do?Would the Ryzen 5 9600 been better choice in 2025? I checked and the 9600 is $100 more and although it's the newest generation I can't find much praise for it over the 7600. Sure it's a bit faster but not THAT much faster. I'm trying to justify my horrible fuck up. I don't game much, I am dicking with Diablo 4 but only to admire some of the graphics, I just wanted to have a desktop x86 (been a laptop and macfag for like 20 years) with the comfort to play whatever if I wanted to.

>>107142814It's jews, anon. Not AI.
I decided to bite the bullet.Had no idea how fucking huge these things are.
>>107142267>I barely even game anymore to be desu, buying stuff would make me feel somethingIt should last you a really long time as long as you don't care about playing on low/medium settings for newer stuff. The i7 8700 is slow by today's standards but it's still solid enough to just play the games at a decent frame rate. Just upgrade when/if you want to start playing more games, don't do it just for the dopamine of getting a new thing.
>>107142768Check the product details next time, it discloses the model name.First unit is meant to be sold in the UK,The second in EU,And the last one is pacakged for North America (NA).The hardware shouldn't matter, and you'll get the needed cables. Get the EU one (2nd link) if you want to play it safe. The NA one isn't available in your region. The PSU itself should be the same.
>>107142814what?
Consider migrating to a new thread>>107142854>>107142854>>107142854
>>107142796You need to RMA it, the VRM fan is probably faulty.Gamers Nexus Steve expected the VRM fans to burn out the fastest during his product teardown since it's so small.
>>107142875I'm so tired of this bullshit man, it's always some random god damn issue with PC building. Gah
>>107142849Thank you very much, anon. I didn't notice that
Dare I?
>>107142814It's not that bad if you scoop up a GPU now+100% to ram price sucks but at least its base cost was only $100 and not $800 like highend GPUs are.
>>107142825Which gpu is it?
>>107142885You could leave it at the lowest RPM if the rattle isn't noticeable at that fan speed. But you're not getting the feature you paid for.
>>107143004The rattle is immediate and ear piercing at any fan speeds if anything at all is touching the GPU from below.
>>107143004Oops, replied to the wrong rattle post. Lol sorry my bad. With regard to the VRM fan the rattle is immediately there too, sadly.
>>107142905I will be just holding out for a bigger drop on black friday weekI know it's for sure coming
OH BOY LOOK AT THE DEALS
>>107142905If you're mostly buying it for games you may want to look at the 9700X instead, if they're cheaper. Seems alright though, especially if you're using it for productivity or just prefer Intel. The Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Elite AX has a better VRM, but you may not care about that especially if you don't overclock or if it's more expensive than that ASUS board.
>>107143035I'm glad I panicked and bought all of my shit when Trump got elected. I just wish I went for 64GB.
>>107143044dual rank tops out at 6800-7200mt/s which might cuck zen6 so you can't win either way
>>107141952Fractal Momentums are nice case fans, but I wouldn't use them on a radiator.https://youtu.be/KEXqmvj1Mls?t=126Best combo if you're not going Noctua G2s would be Momentum case fans + P14 Pro for static pressure (AIO).
>>107141463Probably only minor OLED refreshes and improvements for the next year. Everything juicy looks ~5 years out.
>>107142206I ordered all my parts already. Just hope I don't get fucked somehow. I guess Amazon is as good as it gets for returns and replacements but even they can run out.
>>107143169i'll probably settle for the epoch it's a lot cheaper and it comes with those fans
>>107136610What the hell HP monitor is that? It looks glorious!
>>107142330You can probably have about as much fun with only the monitor and the GPU (for framegen) and save on getting new mobo cpu ram
>>107142321>at least 3-5 yearsGo NVIDIA, I guess 5070Ti based on budget.Try for a 4K monitor, more RAM if you can swing it, but you can also waitfag for those. You can find some savings on the PSU and by air cooling it.Good shit's just expensive...
>>107143459>Go NVIDIA, I guess 5070Ti based on budget.I've decided to stick with Radeon.>Try for a 4K monitor, more RAM if you can swing it, but you can also waitfag for those.Considering switching monitor to ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMG instead of spending the extra money on 5070 TI. Yeah, I wanted to go for 64GB, but I always overthink and now RAM is x2,5 what is was a month ago.>You can find some savings on the PSU and by air cooling it.I went for the 1000W as it supposedly to run nice and quiet in that build.Anyway, now I'm searching for different case as I've noticed that those P14 Pro Fans are much better for the same price. So I'd have to change AIO for Arctic as well. What do you thing about switching cooling from Corsair to Arctic?
>>107143541>So I'd have to change AIO for ArcticBe aware that the P14 Pro fans run loud past 1200 RPM or so, but they don't need to run that fast on a daily system. The Liquid Freezer AIO isn't the best for Ryzen CPUs. LF3's cold plate + mounting solution isn't that great.
I have a 1440p monitorShould I get a 5070 or a 5070TI
>>107143660If the 5070 Ti is obscenely priced in your region, get the 5070 instead.
>>107143674I can get the 5070 for £500 and the 5070ti for £700-750
>>107143574Thanks. Solid answer. So, I'll stick with Corsair. Have their keyboard/mouse, so that's always something.Anyway, should I buy some thermal paste, I've read that it comes pre-applied on the Corsair AIO. However, it came to my attention that there is that phase change pad Honeywell PTM7950, which is supposed to last up to 1000 hours under 150° C and has great properties or the stock solutions is enough? I prefer to optimize as much as I can as I like low temperatures and low RPMs.
>>107143683I would try to get the £700 5070 Ti.ASUS Prime and Zotac Solid Core are the better entry-level models, but the others are fine (especially if you undervolt + OC it).
>>107143702Stock thermal paste should be good enough, but PTM7950 basically doesn't need reapplication after 5~8 years. You're more likely to consider replacing the AIO by year 5~6.https://www.tomshardware.com/best-picks/best-thermal-pasteBelow is a link to the older thermal paste test results for Intel CPU.https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/P5DcVuMJJACkT7juxHAqWL.png
>>107143702Buy a tube of paste in case you mess up the AIO installation.
>>107140883>airshitlol, lmao, what fresh cope is this anon?
I brought home the Alienware AW2725DM for 200€. Can you do better than that on BF or I'll just use it and be happy with it? I want the same refresh rate and resolution but a minileds would be preferable.
>>107144436Pretty standard monitor. All of the 1440p 180hz monitors are 99% the sameOkay pricing with the alienware tag
>buy $400 AMD CPU with 8 cores (lol)>gaymen cores suck at real workloads (9800X3D)>Hit the windows button and the react script causes a studderWhy did I listen and get the 9950X3D like you told me too anons..
Daily reminder that VRR flicker on OLED is physically impossible to solve.
>>107144488Im stupid if I kinda regret how the stand looks? The eggy rounded curve on the pillar looks stupid and gives the illusion of it being unstable. The picture looks nothing special yeah but I don't think can live with lower refresh rate anymore. Guess I'll just have to buy a monitor arm.
>>107144578What's VRR flicker?
>>107144619Never seen a recent cheaper monitor with a genuinely good stand.>>107144627Just what it sounds like, it's an issue on almost all screens though not just oled.
