This might be a retarded question, but does anyone have any idea why all other internet traffic on my network is being brought to a standstill by torrent downloads? I never had any problems for the last ten years, but since moving to a new apartment with a gigabit connection, this has been happening constantly. I've tried various clients with default settings, but the result is always the same: as soon as a torrent starts downloading, no other devices can download anything from the internet. Limiting the speed to, say, 50 MB/s also doesn't change anything either.
