>>107217156Fuck the people saying that gpu prices only go up at the end of the year were rightFUCK
>>107223566It's manageable if you keep SDR brightness around 100~150 nits (adjusting for ambient lighting) and toggle HDR on for HDR video/gaming like you're supposed to.This should get you at least 5~7 years of usage. If you're the kind of person to buy an OLED monitor today, you'd be okay with buying a better monitor within that replacement timeframe. If you nolife video games with static UI (especially white ones) and HDR on, you're accelerating burn-in.
>>107224511If the user has to cripple their monitor and actively worsen their experience just to prevent burn in then it is very much still an issue. The problem will be solved when the average OLED(or whatever might replace it) owner thinks about burn in as much as the average LCD owner
>>107224586>cripple their monitorSDR content is mastered to be viewed at 100~150 nits effective peak brightness.Maximum brightness retards are the ones crippling their image quality.HDR brightness is already targeting TB400 or 1000 nits peak brightness.>The problem will be solved OLED will always have burn-in issues. Just don't buy it and keep using LCDs until non-organic solutions are affordable.

Is this salvageable? Can't tell if it's a burn mark (meaning short) or just a bent pin not making contact and drilling into the PCB instead. >>107225162>LCDs last forever meme is disproven and can die at any time due to shitty manufacturing now a days>lcds are not immune to burn in eitherBurn-in is not an inherent property of LCDs, though. Yes, the backlight can burn out, there can be issues with the manufacturing process leading to blueing or other types of degradation, but it's not an inherent property unlike OLED. I'm having difficulty sorting out RAM for my new build. It's primarily for gaming however I am doing some workstation things - photoshop, lightroom, minor video editing - and have recently gotten into minor AI stuff; upscaling, restoration and image generation. I don't mind long wait times as long as it works - I'll often set something to process and go do chores for example. I've read that AMD is not friendly for image generation but I started literally 2 days ago and don't understand the finer details. I'll cross that bridge when the time comes because it's not a focus. Current gaming focus is heavily modded Skyrim but also online games. I usually don't play AAA new releases. It's also worth mentioning that I'm irresponsible with browser tabs. From what I can understand you have to pick a path - gaming or workstation - and stick with it, and that workstation typically prefers 36, 38 or 40 CL while gaming is firmly 30 CL.CPU - 9800 X3DGPU - 9070 XTMonitor - 1440pBudget - Unlimited, but be reasonable. Not going to pay $500 for a 1% upgrade.Other - MUST be available from this store https://www.pbtech.co.nz/ , other stores within New Zealand aren't an option, and preferably white but it's not a dealbreaker. These seem like my three options, but I'm unsure about configuring and tuning for AMDhttps://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MEMGSK6192605/GSKILL-Trident-Z5-NEO-RGB-64GB-DDR5-Desktop-RAM-Kihttps://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MEMGSK11616/GSKILL-Ripjaws-M5-RGB-for-Intel-XMP-64GB-6000Mhz-Dhttps://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MEMCOR11441/Corsair-VENGEANCE-for-Intel-XMP--AMD-EXPO-64GB-DDR

My question is whether PCs store any significant data in other hardware components that would be easily accessible to whoever might end up salvaging components/materials after I send it all away. >>107229566no anon, its all on the drives. but remember a format / deleting files doesnt actually get rid of anything. you need to write over the data for it to be unrecoverable. run a gutmann pass on the drive after you have taken important data off if you dont plan on keeping it.
YOU THINK I'M KIDDINGMEMORY MAKERS HAVE ZERO PLANS TO INCREASE RAM PRODUCTION ZEROTHEY DO NOT CARE HOW MUCH IT COSTS THEY ARE RAKING IN PROFITS AND KNOW EVERY KIT THEY RELEASE NOW WILL MAKE TRIPLE PROFIT SO WHY MAKE MORE
>>107229369Windows 11 is the best for HDR, it's a shit show Windows 10 and even worse on Linux. Even then, 11's HDR support is still kinda bad.

>>107229548I'd get the Corsair Vengeance EXPO kit (2x 32GB - 6000MHz - 30-36-36-76 1.4v, $ 695 .53 )You can get CL36 6000MT/s kits if you don't care about manual memory overclocking and if you're willing to trade maybe 3~5% performance at worst.
Glad I didn't wait, overpaid for 2x16GB but fuck it.

>"We are aware of several memory kit manufacturers who have announced that they will not be introducing or launching the kits planned for the third and fourth quarters of this year," claiming instead these vendors are waiting and seeing how memory prices develop in 2026. >Unfortunately, we do not expect any positive news on the supply end for memory chips. Reports suggest that manufacturers have no plans to increase RAM production, meaning the shortage will extend next year, and possibly well into 2027. If the situation does not change, experts say that the pricing apocalypse will last a decade. Samsung, Micron, Hynix, they don't give a shit. All have reported they are investing into HBM and see no need to change current consumer DRAM output.
>>107229683Waiting never works out, I don't get why people do it.
>>107229566There are tools like nwipe.Or drill three holes into the platter drive
I got some pretty shit ram with my PC few months ago, but at least it was 2x16GB and DDR5 with 5 year warranty for 90 euro. Last known price for that same kit is 175 euro and it's out of stock...

>>107229471The 7900 XT is like 95ish% the gaming performance of the 9070 XT, 90ish% performance if we're going by RT and FSR upscaling. Its essentially about the same as buying a non XT 9070 at about MSRP.But in terms of raw compute rasterization and vram, the 7800 XT is better I guess for 3D rendering.Judging by how shit the PC building market is, you're better off waiting next year or 2027 hopefully when the AI bubble bursts and get the GPUs or even server components and surplus memory at a discount.
