Idk about that anon but the 27r94 literally has bad gamma shift if you aren’t looking directly at the center of the monitor. I decided to finally build my first PC a month ago (my RAM has tripled in price since, perfect timing!) but I have never been much into gaming or followed whatever the fuck is going on in the GPU world. What I knew I wanted was NVIDIA because of the CUDA but didn't want to spend too much money so I bought a RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. I am looking at different reviews and everyone is losing their minds over the 5xxx series for whatever the fuck reason. Maybe price? Anyways, did I do well with my choice? I paid the equivalent of $550 ameribucks.
The rest of the PC is not too shabby, 32GB 6000mt/s Corsair, 2TB 990 pro, Ryzen 5 7600 (not sure why I didn't go for the 9xxx series, I read guides online), a nice Be Quiet! PSU 750W Gold and a decent Be Quiet! CPU cooler. My MB has a USB 3.2 gen 2x2 header. Also netted a 10TB HDD (CMR, 7200RPM)

In a vacuum the 5060ti is a good gpu, especially for something more mixed use in which you know that you need more than 12gb. For just games the 5070 is usually the better buy

50 series had a poor launch because greedy nvidia launched it with basically no stock and so every price was inflated and it also had major driver issues. Naturally every youtuber lost their shit over this. They've matured now and are fine cards. GPUs have come down to normal price levels too, you may have overpaid for it a bit but if that's the best price in your country what else you gonna do
>>
>>107294970
The CPU isn't great but you'll have plenty of upgrade options when you feel like it. And you didn't really have other choice for the GPU at that price point if you want CUDA.
Personally I would have gone for a 7600X3D and a 9070, and penny pinched elsewhere, but that's my personal opinion and pointless advice now. You didn't do bad, if it meets your expectations, enjoy it.

You made me second guess myself or think that hva might be different than va in this regard, but no, va panels should have the same exact problems. Just a quick google search and I saw a Reddit thread with people complaining about it on a different va monitor.

That being said, if you don’t notice it, good. It’s better to not be a noticer especially with monitor tech. The more things you notice the harder it is to find a “good” monitor.
>>
>>107295056
Then DeArrow is your friend (yes, I know it's made by a jeet, it's still useful software).
>>
>>107295039
>They've matured now
lol
they still have glaring issues on windows and linux
every month is a new hotfix driver
5070ti and below are the only worthwhile cards and only if you can find them discounted from radeon. sometimes you find asus prime or cheap ass model thats same price or lower than top tier amd.
>>
>>107295067
Do the people doing "serious graphics-related work" consider that they're the only ones with a monitor set up to view it?
>>
>>107295093
>they still have glaring issues on windows and linux
What like?
>>
>>107295026
I was eyeing the 5070 Ti but it was $1000. Spent too much money already on some other shit like faster ram and faster nvme. I had to actually cut some of the stuff from the final plan just so I can balance it somehow. Again, games aren't that important for me, my monitor is only 100Hz 1080p. What sucks most of the NVIDIA offerings is the horrible Linux support, but I just couldn't swap CUDA for anything else and AMD don't really seem to have a decent alternative anyways.
>>
>>107295093
Eh, the 5090 also has a place since it has no competition (if you have fuck you money anyway you can replace it when the connector melts).
>>
>>107295095
I don’t think that’s a relevant part of the guys comment. You shouldn’t have such terrible viewing angles that colors look different in different regions of the screen even id you are looking directly at it.
>>
>>107294812
>comes with case fans
Thermalright 120 fans are like 4 bucks a piece why do you need shitty el generico fans
>>
>>107295067
yeah that's fair, I'm not a nooticer so take it with a grain of salt
but if I was doing serious work then I wouldn't get this either
>>
>>107295120
because its meant to be a shitty el generico build with a bunch of old parts that nobody even wants to buy secondhand, might as well be as cheap about it as I can
>>
>>107295111
5090 alone costs as much as a whole pc. it makes no sense unless you're making money from it.

>>107295105

>>
>>107295111
5080's only competition is the 4090.

The reality is is if you want more GPU power than a 5070Ti, your only option is Nvidia right now.

You can spend less money to get a less powerful GPU, and that's great if you don't want the extra power because it'll be far more economically priced with competition from AMD and even Intel. But, you can't buy two B580 and run them in IntelX to make your own 5080.

Obviously the question is then if you actually need as much power as anything above a 5070Ti/9060XT put out, and that's entirely up to the individual.

>>
seeing all those people on overclock mad as fuck they couldn't flash a 800W bios onto their card finally made me understand the mindset of a 5090 owner. They don't need the VRAM and I don't even think they want it to flex or whatever. They just literally do not care if the graphics card explodes.

My final impression of the PC that I build, and not being part of the PC world for more than 25 years, is ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Did everyone lose their minds in the past couple of decades? Did everyone just said FUCK IT? Apparently what has happened was that manufacturers of CPUs and GPUs just threw the towel on the laws of thermodynamics and shifted this responsibility to everyone else but them. "You wanted faster hardware? Here, take it. How do you handle the heat? Not our problem!"
My case is some grotesque monster, sieve looking piece of shit which feels like I've opened a fucking sewer next to my desk. Extremely uncomfortable even with lowest fan settings and my piece of shit CPU is idling at 45C. I am NOT interested in becoming a fluid dynamics engineer just to assemble a simple PC. I paid the money, but what I received was some monstrosity with ZERO thought on comfort and efficiency and from what I understand this is generally accepted as normal. I have fucking arthritis, I can't stand next to a current as if all of my windows in my room are opened! And I've never imagined that a PC would be a consideration for how long it is being turned on because of the electricity bill.

There's a couple of them already out.

Basically they have a "XREME GAM3R" bios setting that disables all the virtualisation on the X3D (And if you have a 995X3D it also shuts off the non-cached cores) in order to reduce power usage and thus allow the CPU to draw more power towards the cached core and overclock "Better".

It's a couple of extra frames in specific games.

Ryzen usually idles around those temps but if you haven't filled the slots you could add a couple extra 140s, they'd also lower the noise as if only 1 fan is in there it won't have to spin as fast.

But yeah in general GPU/CPU makers said fuck it, the users can deal with the heat and so we've ended up with cheese graters for cases. But somehow we've also ended up with glass everywhere too.

but why would you like to use extra resources to display useless stuff like CPU and RAM usage? Like, who cares? Get 32GB (not now) and you literally don't have to care about your ram usage anymore. Apparently that's what I've concluded. At heavy load (cinebench test for example) it is going steady at 70C, also in some heavy games like Diablo 4 is around 70C. So at least that gave me some peace of mind. But this is with the Be Quiet! Pure Rock 3 cooler. I intentionally bought the CPU as a box set so I can just try the stock cooler out of curiosity and FUCK ME is it bad. Several times I saw the CPU throttling, going over 95C. Why the FUCK does AMD even sell the stock cooler? Are they stupid?

I actually wish I had gotten 64GB for some select niche usecases of my PC, but generally 32GB (31.1, idk, SSD cache I assume) is fine yeah. I only bump up against 30GB usage with Stable Diffusion or Oblivion Remastered, but both of these worked on my old PC with 16GB RAM, so might just be a "just in case" allocation.

Never would've guessed. I carefully inspected the plates before mounting and it looked like a good fit, also I already got a PSU and a case from Be Quiet!, figured out the cooler would be a good fit too. Is this general knowledge? Coolers and CPU fits? They really should mention that in the marketing page. All I saw when reading it was that it has specific mount for AM5, which I did correctly.

>Is this general knowledge? Coolers and CPU fits?
hell no
Most of these companies claim the coolers can all cool 300W easily when really things have become so fragmented that even aftermarket coolers are Intel/AMD specific now. They never say this besides Noctua. Noctua sells their G2 cooler with 3 different offset patterns one for intel/AMD/Mix and that's because not only are the die placements different for intel and AMD, the curves on the internal heatsinks are also different.

> Help choosing the right eGPU setup

I have a Panasonic Let’s Note FV4 with Thunderbolt 4, a 600W Enhance ENP-7660B Flex-ATX PSU, a PowerColor Red Devil RX 580, and I plan to upgrade later to a compact RTX 4060 LP.
I want a small, clean eGPU setup where the PSU and PCIe dock are in the same compact chassis and connect to my laptop through Thunderbolt 4.
I looked at the One Dock V2, but I don’t know if it can fit or power larger GPUs (like my 3080).
What eGPU dock / chassis do you recommend that supports Flex-ATX PSU mounting, works with TB4 and fits all size GPUs?

If your choice is between 5070Ti + 9950X3D or 5080 + 9800X3D, the better option is the 5080.

As for intel stuff. I'd skip this generation.
>>
>>107296033
A 9950X3D beats the 285K (barely) in productivity and is a much better gaming CPU. If you have an AM5 motherboard already it costs the same to jump to a 9950X3D than to buy a 285K plus a motherboard for it.
>>

>>

9950X3D costs $670
ATX B650 board $120

285K costs $520

total $730

60 bucks difference between a much better gaming CPU plus it achieves same in productivity as the 285K.

That's the beauty of AM5. You don't have to get the best motherboard even for the best CPU's unlike Intel. Though probably better to spend the extra 30 bucks for a B850 board.
>>
>>107296103
>You don't have to get the best motherboard even for the best CPU's unlike Intel
You don't on intel either. With lga 1700 and 1851 you can just buy the cheapest z-board and it'll work fine even with overclocking.
>>
>>107296128
Yeah but the cheapest Z board is still more expensive than a mid priced B board for AMD. That's the difference. With AM5 you can get a mid priced B650 or B850 for a 9950X3D rather than the cheapest X board. Unlike with Intel.

Ok knowledgeable denizens of /g I need your help.

I want to play League of legends again after few years (I know I'm a retard). I was rolling my 15yo pc with 1060 3GB and win7 for good 10+ years and it was doing fine playing LoL but when Riot decided to add Vanguard I dropped the game. I've also learnt that Vanguard can't run on it which now leaves me with a dilemma. I don't want to compromise my pc with this kernel level bullshit so I was thinking about some workarounds. I've ended up with the idea of a dual-boot with my current win7(actually win7 on 128GB SSD and 1TB hard drive for other data) accompanied by win10 on another SSD drive.

Question is will my win7 and HDD get compromised if I run win10 with Vanguard? Assuming this is kernel level malware of sorts. Is there a possibility of reading/writing/deleting data or win10 potentially formatting other drives? Is there any way to make my HDD and win7 drive out of reach for my win10 drive?

From what I've gathered most optimal solution would be to physically detach SATA cables (I don't use M2) but I'd like to find something more optimal. Also if Vanguard cant run on win7 is it still able to read files in that drive?

I really appreciate some help here.
>>
>>107296313
How about just get an another cheap PC (since anything can run league) and keep it as a separate machine only for running league.

>>
>>107296330
Well I'm currently planning on getting some proper 1440p rig but not at the moment so I wanted to make my current setup viable for league.

>>107296334
Sadly I would still require Steam for it and it doesn't work on win7 anymore, also dota2 is a hard turn after I've spent so much time playing League and switch would be too time consuming.
>>
>>107296313
I would physically disconnect the drive
It is a virus that scans everything
Shit windows 10 will already scan everything itself
And yes windows 10 will have to potential to wipe the other drives too. You can try your luck with fully encrypting the other drive if you want.

honestly the easiest option is a 2nd PC. You can try disabling the sata port in the bios but who knows what happens when the bios one day decides to reenable it for whatever reason

Get one of these 3.5" and 2.5" HDD enclosure front panels. Then always remove the 3.5" and 2.5" win 7 drives whenever you run the win 10 drives. Honestly best to get an another hot swap front panels so you can easily remove the win 10 ssd whenever you switch back to win 7.
>>
>>107296368
That's what I'm worried about. Physically disconnecting drives seems like a hustle. I was also researching the use of virtual machine with MacOS (since Riot stated that they wont make Vanguard run on it) and playing League from there but again I'm working with an old PC with 8GB of ram which is really low for this endeavour I think. Also I don't know if my usb wifi adapters drivers will work on Mac or are there even any to begin with (again since it's so old). Also having a dedicated pc for LoL is the best idea but then again it takes place and is aa hustle.
>>
5070 or 9700XT?
>>
>>107296404
Is there some more comprehensible method/video on the subject? or maybe some cable with a switch so I can just plug win7 and HDD drive to it and whenever I want to play I just turn my pc off and just switch to win10 ssd?
>>
>>107296277
Firmware is mature (with the mandatory panel refresh cycle increased to 24 hours).
The panel should be similar to the other 3rd-gen 240Hz QD-OLED.
Should have okay factory calibration given other MSI monitors ootb.

$380 isn't a steep price if you're on the fence about OLEDs.
If you're concerned with burn-in, it's going to happen.
A replacement may be needed after 5-7 years (or longer), depending on how you use it.
Avoid high brightness + static content if you want to extend the usable life of the panel.

Reshade mods like RenoDX let you adjust UI brightness for games.

I mean operating those enclosures is very simple. Just open the door and the drive comes right off and switching drives becomes very simple. HDD's and SSD's that aren't hot swappable will require a restart to be detected by a PC. But yeah you can have the 2.5" and 3.5" win 7 drives. The when you want to play league just shut down pc. Take the drives off the enclosure and put the 2.5" Win 10 drive in and play league. And when you switch back do vice versa.

Well from current rumors just because of DRAM/VRAM chips pricing:

-NVIDIA cancels/delays RTX 50 SUPER series, 3 whole cards
-AMD cancels 9070 GRE release
-NVIDIA/AMD both are rumored to stop production of low end 16GB GPUs (9060XT 16GB/5060ti 16GB)

AMD's board partners already said in public buy now prices are rising next year. Nvidia partners have said 5060TI 16GB stock will be in short supply very soon. So maybe not so bad, maybe very very bad.
>>
>>107297218
If shit don't run well on Last-gen hardware, it's not going to run very well on current gen hardware either way and we're probably 2 years off from a new GPU cycle.
>>
>>107297162
I wouldn't upgrade GPU right now unless you're running a 1070/1660S/2060(non-super)/3050 or similar, or older/less powerful.
If you're running a 1080/Ti, any 20-series that's 2060 Super or better, any 30-series that's 3060 12GB or better, any 40-series no exceptions, or an equivalent AMD, I wouldn't upgrade right now. Especially if your GPU supports DLSS4 Transformer Model. Even more especially if your GPU has 10-12GB VRAM or more along with the DLSS support. A 3080 Ti 12GB isn't far off from a 5070, and a 5070 can run anything at 1440p High with DLSS, and at 144FPS+ with FrameGen.

It's pathetic for hardware which presents itself as the premium way to play video games, don't get me wrong, but for the types of games most popular on consoles (Sony first party slop a la GoW) and with wireless controllers it really doesn't fucking matter.

If I have an AM4 motherboard with a dog shit CPU and GPU, is it still worth upgrading to a 5700x/5800x and a 9070xt or 5070ti or something? Or should I just bite the bullet and move to AM5 now?

I'm just looking for the best ratio of money to performance staying at 1440p until the heat death of the universe. I'm fine with jumping from AM4 to AM6 later if that makes sense, I'm just out of touch with current levels of performance and plans for future platforms.

14600k + z690: 300$
9600x/78x3d/98x3d + cheapest b650 32gb kit: 475$/615$/725$

Did they say that? Either way, /pcbg/ can help you pick a case.

new cardboard furniture is better than used furniture full of cockroach eggs.
this isnt the 1960s, you cant have nice things.

But 1080ti was the 5090 of the day.

They're the type that fall for memes

I think the Hyte Y70 is an amazing case. Would I pay $370 for it? Hell no. I bought the Okinos Aqua 9 for a hundred bucks and it includes 5-120mm ARGB fans. Well designed, great airflow, and super easy to build in.

just commission a legitimate furniture maker to build a brand new proper high quality desk for a few thousand that will last for life

no, unless you're pairing it with a 5090
what RAM kit do you have? if you have only have 16 GB of DDR4 or something it might not be worth keeping at this point

8x4 3200

750w is fine
>$475/$615/$725
If you do decide to go am5 I wouldn't bother with a 7600, x3d or bust.

You're not going to totally fix shader compilation with any processor but you can lessen it.

that's fine then, you have enough capacity and dual rank memory
3200 is a pretty low speed for LGA1700, the 14600K might be hamstrung in some cases running those at XMP settings
if you bought your kit in the last 5 years or so it can do more, guaranteed

I mean US law to remove safe heavens globally. if the hardware being used for AI is american then pay up bitch.

We tried that shit with China and they simply bought through 3rd parties. Look, I hate this AI bullshit as much as you, but you're not going to legislate the problem away. It has to crash on it's own. And, it will crash. I just hope it's sooner than later. We have the economy supported by a few trillion dollars being passed back and forth between AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Palantir and a few others. It's not sustainable. All we can hope for is keeping our own shit in order when it comes crashing down.

That's still not great. Ten years ago it was pretty much expected that you could get a 30-50% performance increase for the same money every couple of years.
I upgraded to a GTX 1080 from an R9 290X and it was an insane upgrade. I went from struggling to stay above 60fps at 1080p in most games to 60fps at 1440p being no problem and even at 4k it was possible in some games. And then I swapped someone for a 1080Ti and kept that for several years.
