I was under a rock when the 30-series were brand new (busy with university and getting drunk). Was the 3090 ever thought of in the same way we think of the 4090 and 5090 today? In hindsight it seems like a very mediocre GPU. It's barely more powerful than the 3080 Ti, and on part with the 5070, which is a midrange 250W card...
On the other hand the 4090 is still the second best GPU after the 5090, and the 5080 can't remotely touch it.
Moreover, memes about the 4090 were everywhere unlike the 3090.

Are M.2 SSD prices safe?

Man, I sure picked a good moment to want a new pc. I was thinking of just starting from scratch since it's around 5 years old now, but with the current prices I'm not really feeling it. So now I'm thinking of just upgrading some bits of my current pc and keep trucking for another year or 2-3, but I'd like if someone could sanity check the plan for each part, to see if I'm being a moron or not.

Currently I've got:
>R5 3600: Either try to get a cheap 5700 or 5700X3D secondhand somewhere, or just keep using this thing until I can get a ddr5 cpu+mobo+ram combo at a non-stupid price
>2x8GB DDR4 3200CL: Try and snipe either an additional 2x8gb or 2x16 gb secondhand to get to 32 in total

I currently still game at 1080p, but I'm getting myself a 1440p monitor no later than january for sure. I'm in western europe, and a quick glance shows the 5060TI 16gb model going for around 420-440 euro here currently.

Define Mini lacks the bells and whistles of the regular/XL variant (hinged front panel, optical drive bay) but it still has dust filters and the removable top panel over the Pop Silent. I'd only really go for the latter if you can't go without the 5.25 bay.
Have you completely ruled out mesh front options? If your GPU doesn't whine and you don't use HDDs, they could be as if not more silent. Solid front cases aren't that good against fan noises, they mainly isolate from other internal sounds.

I'm ashamed to admit it but I'm so out of touch when it comes to new PCs. The main reason is that I gave up playing games on PC more than 10 years ago, I only play on game consoles. I would like to replace my PC that I bought in 2014 (yeah, I know). So I need it for normal things, everything except games. I don't run graphically demanding programs, which is already evident from the fact that I don't have a dedicated graphics card

I'm currently using a 256GB SSD for the OS and 7TB on old HDDs. Is it possible to get a similar amount of space with just SSDs these days for a fairly reasonable price? I need the space because I use it for Plex Media Server

The g81sf has a really heavy matte coating, but you might not mind it if you have lights, but glossy is not a problem unless you have direct reflections in the monitor

The only major difference between them is led has blooming where you will see slight halos around lighter objects in front of a darker background. Also LED can get a bit brighter but you are sacrificing darkness clarity. I suggest going to a store and looking at both kinds if you can. Both are good improvements over IPS though so you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose.

As far as I can tell, the difference is tRFCmin of 295ns vs 410ns. No clue what this means though.
The RGB one is called CL30, because they achieved better timings by tweaking it, I think. Is it just due to the bigger heatsink, then? Because the standard factory timings seem to be similar.

I think I just go for the cheaper one. $50 cheaper and low profile, which I think I may need under the noctua monstrosity.

Apparently neither of them will fit under the D15. The shorter one is 3 mm too tall. Chat tells me I could just slide the fan a little up though, so I will probably try that.

just a note that you can use windhawk app to move the taskbar to a vertical position, move taskbar to the 2nd monitor while keeping oled as the primary one and to make the taskbar transparent

this way you only ever keep the wallpaper on oled without issues like games launching in the wrong monitor if you tried keeping oled as the secondary
