I had similar issue with MW19 when I built my PC (Ryzen 3600 + RTX2070S)
After some time, the lods stopped loading. Only after I downclocked my RAM it started working.

It mostly depends on the game. From what I can see, strategy and simulator games like Civ and Assetto Corsa seem to run with more frames on the 5900x, while most normal games like Cyberpunk and the like run better on the 9700x3d. Guess it boils down to what you play more of and what you're willing to sacrifice frames for. Both are still solid picks.

Does anyone know much about safe hotspot and operating temps for AMD's 7xxx series GPUs? I have a 7900XT, and even undervolting by 60mV, this is the kind of shit I am dealing with:

My current CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600 and I'm looking to upgrade. From what I can tell the newer AM5 CPUs don't offer enough of a performance improvement to justify buying a new mobo+DDR5 RAM. Also AMD doesn't seem to be making new AM4 CPUs aside from rebrands of older ones. If those two things are true whats the most powerful CPU I could get that's still AM4 compatible? I want to future proof my PC for as long as possible with the same mobo+RAM. I'll probably also upgrade my GPU in a year or two, should I worry about compatability/bottleneck issues with my existing mobo with the future GPU?

What's the consideration to be made when choosing between the 9060 and 5060ti, both the 16GB models? The price difference is like 50 euro on average here in the benelux, depending on what models you go for.
It's mostly going to be used for some light 1440p gaming, I'm happy if I can consistently get like 80fps or so. I mostly play singleplayer stuff anyway so super high framerates aren't that important to me but I do like nice textures and lighting.
I haven't really kept up with hardware the last couple of years, I would assume the general advice would still be to get Nvidia because of their exclusive software stuff, but I'm seeing a fair bit of 9060 and 9070 being recommended as well.

On that note, once I end up cannibalizing what I can from my current pc I'll have some components to sell. What's a secondhand good price for these?

I always felt a little like I was coping with QD OLED even when it was by far the better OLED monitor, but tandem WOLED has brought that feeling back. But now I'm back to WAITING for one that matches the higher refresh QD OLEDs. It's so hard to get past the lack of polarizer on QD OLED as a downside and now tandem WOLED is even brighter. $750 for a piece of furniture isn't that expensive. Sure, you can get a cheapo Ikea desk for way less, but if you like the look of the Lian Li Desk, then well that's what you pay.

Honestly? Desk cases are cool, and you'll probably keep it forever, where as a PC case is something you eventually throw away and move on from. If you eventually need to sell it, it'll hold value way better too as you'll probably get back what you paid for it.

Thermally, probably not a whole lot of difference depending on what fans you put in it.
Just ask yourself if this thing is cool enough to spend $750 on, if the answer to that is no, don't do it. If it's yes, do it.

I haven't bought anything yet, as I'm still undecided what to actually get. Also, I'm perfectly willing to use whatever features the cards have, so long as it gives me good graphics and a smooth experience. When I said struggle with 1440p, I meant with whatever options enabled.

Manufacturers gave up on silence in exchange for cooling because CPU/GPU makers gave up on trying to deal with heat. We have 300W CPUs and 600W GPUs, cases are basically wind tunnels now just to keep any of it from melting. Performance graphs and benchmarks will typically not use DLSS or FSR. For the purposes of comparing raw performance that's enough for a chart but it really never says what it will be like with such upscalers on. You can expect that if it reaches 60 FPS on a native benchmark then it will probably be just fine with performance enhancers turned on, and that if it is below by about 1/3rd then it will still probably reach 60 with performance mode upscaling. Those benchmarks will also be running with every other option maxed so you also know that you can claw back frames by lowering settings. The other OLED monitors have TB400 cert.

MiniLED LCD monitors have HDR 1000 or 1400 rating.

Thanks for explaining, I really don't read about these things often enough not to get a little confused with how they benchmark things and how to compare models.
So, considering both are within my budget the 5060ti 16gb seems to be the winner here. Just checking, but how much of the ray tracing stuff can I actually expect to use? Will I actually be able to get some of it going (in stuff like cyberpunk, alan wake, similar titles), or should I not be considering that with this level of card? Just so I have an idea what to expect.
And this is probably a dumb question, but is ray tracing and other such things an all-or-nothing setting? Or are there levels to it, that you can enable some of it but not all? I've never been able to use any of it before, so I just don't really know.
As you've both mentioned, I've never gone for ultra settings. The gains were never worth the performance hit, and especially lately the difference between high/very high and ultra is small enough that I just never bother.

Oh, that's also really good to know actually. In my mind stable 60fps is still the standard to aim for when I say "high performance". I must be getting old.

Maybe more on the practical side, are there brands or models I should be avoiding? Stuff like 2 fan vs 3 fan or what have you I should look out for? INot only am I a bit out of touch, but I've had AMD cards for the last decade or so, so what brands are good or to be avoided is probably different on the nvidia side I'm guessing.
