Realistically speaking, how much of a difference would it make if I were to lower my DDR4 clock from 3200 MHz to 3000 MHz, without adjusting anything else?My motherboard got 3200 MHz support only after the bios upgrade and I'm beginning to notice very specific issues related to lod.
>>107332512like -5% performance at worst, more typically -1~2%
>>107332519that's a shitload
>>107332512In general, I have no idea happened. Did Windows update fuck up something again?>wake up>turn on PC>can only hear new device sound>the font on my desktop is missing the shadows/outlines, white is unreadable on light background>check up drivers, and for some reason AMD Pro drivers were installed>reinstall Adrenalin drivers>fucked up lod in BF6>use DDU and reinstall drivers>it's better, but can still see aggressive pop-in>lower RAM clocks to 3000MHz>now it looks seemingly fine on the first glance

>>107332512>I'm beginning to notice very specific issues related to lodand how did you assume it was your ram and not anything else like vram or ssd or whatever
>>107332659because it's AMD and it's always ram
Does every gpu just fucking coil whine now?Boughted a 9070 xt and it whines just like my rdna3 card
>>107332693yeah and you dont get lod errors from ram. ram is very simple. it either posts and uses chrome longer than 10 minutes or it immediately starts freezing and bsoding.
Im overclocking my ram sticks Those are the timings im currently working with at 6400MT/sShould i bother going further?
>>107332720My 7900XTX only coil whines when I uncap the fps. If I use vsync it goes away.
any reason why i shouldn't take the asrock steel legend psu? seems quite good for the price
>>107332760you can try lowering trc or trefi or trfc.
>>107332760Set uclk=mclk/2 and fclk to 2133mhz if youre gonna to try 6400mhz. Set vsoc from 1.2 to 1.25v then test. If thats stable you can start reducing voltages and tightening timings.
>>107332659I had similar issue with MW19 when I built my PC (Ryzen 3600 + RTX2070S)After some time, the lods stopped loading. Only after I downclocked my RAM it started working.Only at the end of last year I decided to go yolo and update bios, and if that worked, I would upgrade to 5700X3D, instead of building new PC, and since then 3200MHz was running fine.
>>107332805>uclk=mclk/2As in if ddr5 at 6000 uclk is 3000 mclk is 3000. Mb wrote the wrong one.
>>107332764Doesn't it cause massive amounts of screen tearing?
>>107332805>>107332825Im currently memtesting it for errors @ 6400 with timings as on screenshot
>>107332760if you have 13th/14th gen you can try going for 6800-7200mhz before tightening timings
>>107332879If you want bare minimum trefi can go to 50000 and trfc 450-500. Could also go lower tras then trc=tras+trp. Trddl and trdds and tfaw to 8/8/32 is good as well.

It wouldn't even be an issue if they had specced the cable and the connector properly but it has like no margin of error and then the GPU side doesn't even recognize when it's failing because nvidia cheaped out on the reference design there.

>>107333312Depends on the use case. Major brands usually all come with some crappy software. Third party mice tend to be better for the money but not all of them are supported under Linux. I use a lamzu paro aurora and I'm pretty happy with it
any reason to upgrade from 3070ti? the vram is actually not a hinderance at all. only one game caused me to run out of vram and it was AAA slop.
>>107333390It mostly depends on the game. From what I can see, strategy and simulator games like Civ and Assetto Corsa seem to run with more frames on the 5900x, while most normal games like Cyberpunk and the like run better on the 9700x3d. Guess it boils down to what you play more of and what you're willing to sacrifice frames for. Both are still solid picks.
Thoughts on Samsung EVO 990 Pro for SSD?The specs look nice but it had that degradation firmware issue and a bunch of people say it randomly fails to boot after some time.
>>107333437I see a future where games are optimized anon, as we're hitting the scaling roof of gpu.So keeping it is wise
>>107333167>>107333202>>107333217I found out that there's a "BTF" version that connects to the motherboard. Are those any good?
>>107333470gotcha. gonna grab the 5900x
>>107332720>nowIt's always been a problem with GPUs in general. I just picked up a 5070 TI and I think it's the first GPU I have ever owned that DOESN'T fucking coil whine to some degree.
>>107333543BTF moves the 12vhpwr to the back of the BTF motherboard. I'm not sure if the x870e hero btf supports per-pin current monitoring. if it does then BTF is a decent solution to the melting problem
>>107332835I don't get tearing with freesync just coil whine
>>107333606Oh yeah they move all those connectors to the back and it still uses that 12vhpwr connector at the back which would mean it can melt back there. Maybe a regular Astral is the choice then.
>>107333397I use it for a mixture of gaming, as well as work, which involves a lot of document maintenance and minor graphic design at times. How is the Lamzu paro aurora size-wise? I do have bigger hands and prefer mid to larger mouse, as opposed to a smaller one.
>>107333667I'd say it's small, at least a bit smaller than the roccat mice I had before. I think lightweight gaming mice you find everywhere now tend to be all small but not sure.

>>107335043Top-tier GPUs for 4K 240HzNVIDIA RTX 5090: This is the top-tier option that can achieve 240 FPS in modern AAA games at 4K with max settings, especially when paired with technologies like frame generation.NVIDIA RTX 5080: A strong contender that can handle 4K 240Hz gaming, though some settings may need to be lowered or upscaling technologies used to stay consistently above 240 FPS in the most demanding titles. Other powerful optionsNVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti: A great value option for 4K 240Hz, especially if you are willing to lower some graphical settings and use DLSS.NVIDIA RTX 4090: While a previous generation card, it can still provide the necessary performance for 4K 240Hz in many modern titles, though it may require upscaling or other adjustments.AMD RX 7900 XTX: This AMD card is a strong performer at 4K and can be a viable option, especially in games that favor its architecture. Important considerationsGame and settings: The required GPU depends heavily on the specific games you play and the graphical settings you use. Competitive shooters will be easier to run at high frame rates than graphically intensive AAA titles.Upscaling and frame generation: Technologies like DLSS and frame generation are crucial for achieving 240 FPS at 4K, even with high-end GPUs.Other PC components: For a high-end system, you'll also need a powerful CPU, fast RAM, a high-quality motherboard, and a robust power supply to avoid bottlenecks.

What's the consideration to be made when choosing between the 9060 and 5060ti, both the 16GB models? The price difference is like 50 euro on average here in the benelux, depending on what models you go for. It's mostly going to be used for some light 1440p gaming, I'm happy if I can consistently get like 80fps or so. I mostly play singleplayer stuff anyway so super high framerates aren't that important to me but I do like nice textures and lighting. I haven't really kept up with hardware the last couple of years, I would assume the general advice would still be to get Nvidia because of their exclusive software stuff, but I'm seeing a fair bit of 9060 and 9070 being recommended as well. On that note, once I end up cannibalizing what I can from my current pc I'll have some components to sell. What's a secondhand good price for these?>2x8GB DDR4 3200mhz CL16>6700 XT, the model from AMD (reference, founders?)The other pieces I know the price for, but RAM seems to be going haywire right now, and the secondhand market for GPU has prices varying so wildly here that I can't figure out which are actually reasonable.

When I said struggle with 1440p, I meant with whatever options enabled. Honestly, I'm getting more confused the more info I read. So far I thought my options would be>5060ti: Nvidia software features, possibly get some ray tracing going in my singleplayer games, bonus of being able to fuck around with AI stuff>9060xt: Cheaper (anywhere from 25-75 euro cheaper depending on which models we're comparing), FSR4 apparently means FSR is good now?, apparently AMD can handle ray tracing as well now? >Just say fuck it and stick with my 6700XT: Free, just werks if I turn down graphics options, may kick myself in a year or two when it stops being good and pc component prices have skyrocketed even moreI mean, I realize the 6700XT isn't a bad card currently. But I'm kinda set on getting myself something for christmas that's somewhat of an upgrade and would allow for some of the fancier settings that I've always just had to turn off/down until now.

>>107337398Manufacturers gave up on silence in exchange for cooling because CPU/GPU makers gave up on trying to deal with heat. We have 300W CPUs and 600W GPUs, cases are basically wind tunnels now just to keep any of it from melting. And making a 120mm fan bigger and noisier is easier and cheaper than making a smaller quieter one that performs just as well at cooling. Noctua figured it out, it took them 6 years and they want $50 per fan for it. As for the others, well once Lian Li figured out all they have to do is put rgb and mirrors on them to sell millions of them it was game over for everyone else. All that's left is Arctic that has to make thick fans spin superfast to keep these shitass components cool.
>>107337398Just go open loop. Modern PC parts are power hungry and hot. We hit the wall in tech and now just push unlimited power for that sweet 5 percent uplift for an extra 100w.

>>107337383Performance graphs and benchmarks will typically not use DLSS or FSR. For the purposes of comparing raw performance that's enough for a chart but it really never says what it will be like with such upscalers on. You can expect that if it reaches 60 FPS on a native benchmark then it will probably be just fine with performance enhancers turned on, and that if it is below by about 1/3rd then it will still probably reach 60 with performance mode upscaling. Those benchmarks will also be running with every other option maxed so you also know that you can claw back frames by lowering settings. Actually, that's almost a guarantee it will be higher due to max settings in modern games typically offering very little over the next highest setting despite a visible performance hit.

>>107337603>>107337716Thanks for explaining, I really don't read about these things often enough not to get a little confused with how they benchmark things and how to compare models. So, considering both are within my budget the 5060ti 16gb seems to be the winner here. Just checking, but how much of the ray tracing stuff can I actually expect to use? Will I actually be able to get some of it going (in stuff like cyberpunk, alan wake, similar titles), or should I not be considering that with this level of card? Just so I have an idea what to expect. And this is probably a dumb question, but is ray tracing and other such things an all-or-nothing setting? Or are there levels to it, that you can enable some of it but not all? I've never been able to use any of it before, so I just don't really know. As you've both mentioned, I've never gone for ultra settings. The gains were never worth the performance hit, and especially lately the difference between high/very high and ultra is small enough that I just never bother.

>>107338951*memory on package
>>107338623Not that anon but in general the 5060 TI does not pull too much power so you can just get the cheapest model, you said you were from europe so maybe check if there is INNO x2 16gb models, they usually are around msrp and they are a little bit better quality than whats offered on that range, i would not pay extra for a 3 fan model or an OC one unless the price diference is non existant, out of those i think the only one that usually goes at msrp is the asus prime whichs a 3 fan model with metal backplate and memory pads on the back, which might make sense if you want to do Ai stuff as thats hammers the vram but they are usually out of stock. Make sure you undervolt/overclock blackwell cards all blackwell cards are running below their clockstocks so you can get anywhere from 7 to 13% of extra performance in games while staying at the same temps without ever crashing or pulling extra power, you just do 350 mhz on the clock and 1500 on the memory which all blackwell cards can do.

How bad of an idea is selling my 4090 on ebay?I see them going for more than I paid for it and I don't game on PC any more.
>>107339056Not a bad idea at all. If you're in no rush to sell it, list it for the price you want and see what people offer you, accept what you're happy with. GPUs are only going to get more expensive, and the 4090 isnt going to be irrelevant for some time yet.
>>107338047> is ray tracing and other such things an all-or-nothing setting?Depends on the game, most commong setting you'll find is turning ray tracing on/off and hardware raytracing/software raytracing. In general hardware ray tracing in unreal engine 5 games is almost always a no go even on more expensive gpus like the 5070 TI and 9070 XT because it kills performance just like path tracing while not being that much better than the regular software raytracing which is unfortunately enabled by default. then some n games allow you to decide whatever you want ray traced reflections, raytracing global illumination and ray tracing objects, and ray tracing shadows. You can also run the ray reconstruction model for more accurate ones.
Almost all Sata SSD's are gone at least where I live. All the popular models like the Kingston A400, Adata U630 and U650 and Crucial MX500 are gone. >>107337853>Look what happened with Alan Wake 2: they had to release a visual downgrade patch to get more buyers. Why didn't they make actual low settings that worked. Most games have five settings that do nothing and ultra that uses 2x the resources while looking exactly the same as high.
Alright, I'm buying a new monitor for Black Friday, been thinking of getting an OLED for a while. The best I'm looking at so far is LG 32GX870A-B, though the most comparable is LG 32GS95UE. The first is cheaper, but I'm just... very fucking confused by monitor manufacturers. It's also cheaper but I can find literally no fucking difference between them except maybe the second one is listed as having DisplayPort 1.4 and being... a half inch smaller? But only in some cases? >>107339085>>107338047Also some games have an option to select Ray tracing low/medium/high/ultra, the games that do come in two variety ones in which there is barely any performance difference from low to high so you always go with high and ones where the difference between medium ray tracing and high/epic raytracing is like 20 fps, in general though optimized settings for that level of card include being able to run u;tra textures/high settings with high/ultra software RT, you'll be just using a more agressive setting on DLSS at 1440p rather than lowering settings on those titles with the exception of something like borderlands 4, pathtracing and the odd unreal 5 title in which you may need to run high instead of ultra like you used to do

I tried to reconnect DP port as I saw "No signal from DP port" on my monitor but it didn't work. Then I started to get this issue more frequently. I rolled back GPU drivers and it helped for some time.Recently I've been getting consistent crash when trying to play "Ready or Not". I've been playing this game a lot and I've never ever had a complete PC crashes on it until like last month. The Event Viewer and memory dumps were showing issue with nvlddmkm.sys and error message VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. Could it be an issue?Does anyone else ever dealt with this issue and have some ideas if this could be potentially either of these 2 that I listed? Take that you retard i even took the time to find one that support AMD to prove my point and thats not even talking about better quants when you run low precisions 4 float bit points but sure keep shilling garbage products in 4chin
>>107339736Thanks for the reply, really appreciated it.I bought brand new RTX 3090 in January 2024.I tried undervolting previously but will try it again.Should I return the GPU since it's on warranty? Or is it still worth to check the PSU theory?I have a single cable that splits into two to power GPU.
>>107339870Get afterburner and downclock the card by 100~200MHz and set a 300W power limit to check if the problem doesn't occur.I'd RMA the card if the card is stable after that adjustment; the chip's degraded.Don't tell this when you're filing the RMA, just say the standard stuff like black screen etc. They might blame you for fucking around with Afterburner.
>>107339848practical use is irrelevant with 16gb vram, you will still be using the same models as amd/intel users, that's the reality and, as you showed, things are getting better for all gpu manufacturers after ai adoption became widespreadyou cannot find an example of an nvidia gpu running a model that an intel/amd gpu with the same 16gb vram wouldn't also run with similar performance, because it doesn't exist
>>107339968i literally showed you one you dumb fuck, READ THE repo because on nvidia gpus you dont have OOM errors when blockswapping and offloading into your ram you can run BIGGER MODELS You are a complete retard that doesnt even how shit his gpu is lmao
>>107339998it supports larger models because it has 50% more ram, read it
>>107340028No it supports larger models because of inference stability, VRAM overflow errors happen with AMD gpu's while running the PYtorch code, you are a complete retard lmao
>>107340046and btw if you do your own custom nodes you can even do more agressive blcokswapping on nvidia cards, this mongoloid doesnt even know why people are buying so much ram and nvidia cards for local AI while NO one buys amd
>>107340046Just treat 7900 XTX owners in /pcbg/ as the retards they are.>No games require over 16GB VRAM>The card is inferior in compute/AI loads. They have to cope in this general because they're the biggest losers of the RDNA3 generation (wasted the most money on a GPU design only Valve will buy at a bulk discount).
>>107340046>still can't show an example of an nvidia gpu with 16gb vram running a model an amd/intel with the same amount of vram wouldn't with similar performancebecause it doesn't exist
>>107340071Valve is also buying up the smallest RDNA3 variant because the bigger ones are an absolute waste of money. You know the GPU architecture is trash when even Sony didn't want it for the PS5 Pro.Laptop manufacturers only buy the more power-efficient RDNA3.5 GPU cores for their premium products because RDNA3 is an abortion.
>>107337738>1.4
>>107339951I applied those settings as you recommended and it still keeps crashing…What was worrying to me is that when I was restarting computer it didn’t show the GIGABYTE logo to enter BIOS during POST and it was still showing “No signal from DP port”Is it some issue with RTX 3090 batch? I really liked this card but right now I’m not sure if I want to try the same card from different brand or just go with something newer. The newest MEMORY.DMP shows this:SYMBOL_NAME: nvlddmkm+1a50dc0MODULE_NAME: nvlddmkmIMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sysSTACK_COMMAND: .process /r /p 0xffffc28606ae0140; .thread 0xffffc2861f659040 ; kbFAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x116_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sysOS_VERSION: 10.0.19041.1BUILDLAB_STR: vb_releaseOSPLATFORM_TYPE: x64OSNAME: Windows 10FAILURE_ID_HASH: {c89bfe8c-ed39-f658-ef27-f2898997fdbd}Followup: MachineOwner

I will never buy Nvidia after their dogshit drivers on Windows 11 and Linux today with no fix in the future according to devs
>>107337098>ddr4>cheapThey're hundreds of dollars now. Sorry.
>>107340244The thing is I need GPU to run Stable Diffusion and NVIDIA has monopoly for that...So just wondering which one I should choose
>>107340183From what I'm reading, you used a pigtail PCIe 8-pin cable to connect 2 of the 3 power connectors for the card and one 8-pin cable for the final power connection? The card should be fine in this cable config. If you didn't use any anti-sag support since January 2024, the weight of the cooler may have caused the PCB to warp like someone else suggested. It's way too late to unfuck card sagging issues. If the board is warped, the manufacturer's warranty is voided because you didn't use the anti-sag support MSI included with the card.
>>107340286Just listen to the AMD guys in /pcbg/ and find out for yourself.
>>107340286run memtest_vulkan on the gpu to check for errors
>>107340249There is no butthurt, only facts.RDNA3 is so trash, it wasn't good enough to run PSSR.
>>107340286>The thing is I need GPU to run Stable DiffusionAMD runs stable diffusion just fine?lots of people in ai general use amd because nvidia is unstable and lacks vram.

Video card PCB warping is not a joke. Someone shared this vid a few days ago.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoTBBJD2R7A
>>107340615the northridge repair gpu guy on youtube makes videos about warped gpus almost every day now, you can still reball the memory chip and it might work for a while if the warp isn't too bad>>107340613rma it and say you had it supported if they ask
since his gpu still works it means the core doesn't need reballing, so reballing the memory chips will fix the card, then run it horizontally/supported
Why these retarded chatbots like Gemini and ChatGPT keep suggesting this is issue with PSU because I'm using 750W and daisy cable and I should get better PSU.>>107340705Yeah, the GPU started only recently to consistently crash when playing "Ready or Not"Should I try this reballing in service?Or just RMA this and get new AMD GPU?

>>107340751Stick with GeForce cards if you want CUDA.It's really idiotic to get a 7900 XTX after owning a 3090, especially if you don't use Linux.
