>what the fuck is going on
It's a cumulative set of bad decisions that have piled up until everything's blown out recently.
Some years ago they basically fired all QA people, so now they rely on the insiders for QA, then they've been involved in several mass firing operations in order to fire all competent western talent for third world H-1B and temporary contractors, the third world hires are usually poorly qualified and haven't had a proper programming education, and then the contractors, as for any new hire, they just don't know jack shit about the code they're working on, so they basically take ungodly amount of time to do shit and they do it poorly because they can't do better, and the last is basically mandating the use of AI or else you're fired, which basically makes people rely too much on it and just blindly trust it will do what they're expecting of it, which obviously isn't doing, since they've been consistently breaking the OS left and right.

>uhhh but to hard have to frigging type 1 bajillion lines into a console to install browser and no games work on linux le kek

linux hasn't been a console only OS for fucking years, most distro's have an app store or browser preinstalled or you literally go "sudo (whatever your installer is ie pacman etc) firefox" and you have a browser. and basically 90% of windows games just work on linux, the ones that don't work you might need to tinker with or they have a kernal anti cheat that doesn't work or the devs have actively went and made it unplayable on linux

>muh brain can't handle downloading new os no ui to help install it

Microsoft's most profitable category of products, by FAR, is the cloud-based subscription shit. The margins on their "cloud" products are so high that it basically renders Windows irrelevant as a product category for Microsoft.
The only reason Windows exists anymore is to funnel people into Microsoft's cloud-based subscription services (OneDrive, Azure, etc.) where the real money is made.
Microsoft doesn't care about Windows in and of itself, because nobody pays for Windows. Many people just pirate that shit. Of people who actually do pay real money for it, most of them buy from 3rd party websites for $30 per license. That translates into like $3/year for Microsoft, assuming you use it for 10 years. Their cloud shit is WAY more lucrative than that. They get more than that per MONTH when you sign up for cloud.
>>107377694
I officially left Windows for good when they forced us away from Win7. Win8+ is pure cancer. It just FEELS like exploitative spyware. When you use Win8+, you can literally feel on an intuitive level that the software wasn't made to serve you: it was made to serve a corporation. Fuck that.
>>
>>107377724
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, they obviously want you to buy a subscription to copilot as well. Hence why they're forcing it everywhere on Win11. If you buy a Copilot subscription, that's worth way more to Microsoft than buying a Windows license.
>>
Jeets thoughts they could just take over and by having Microsoft they would have guaranteed income. Turns out it actually takes work to run, it takes talent to run, and now that its reached critical pajeet, it's going to collapse.

good job on swapping when you did, wish i swapped after Win7, they had a money machine with it that just fucking worked and decided to fuck everything up instead, I just kept hoping that they would figure shit out and they kinda did with Win10 but 11 was the last straw for me, they keep breaking shit and it just feels like I'm a slave when I use it, shit doesn't work anymore.

>on a more positive note what os are you using now? I'm assuming linux so what distro?
I started with Ubuntu until I got used to Linux, but after hopping around a bit, I eventually settled on QubesOS. Qubes isn't Linux per se; it's actually based on a hypervisor (virtualization software) called Xen, which runs multiple (mostly Linux) VMs on top of itself. It's a unique OS, ideal for somewhat paranoid and security minded people who want the ability to set up a whole bunch of isolated sandboxes and have precise control over what has access to what. I wouldn't recommend it to everybody, especially not to newcomers from Windows, since It has a steep learning curve. On the positive side, though, it gives one the ability to run basically all the Linuxes alongside each other, as well as Windows or any other OS that can be virtualized.

thats actually really cool! I started with mint a while back then swapped to arch for a bit but that eventually broke and I got back on windows and just tried to deal with the slop they are pushing out, got really tired of it all and now I'm on cachyOS and really enjoying it!
>>
>>107377998
CachyOS seems cool. If I was recommending something for a gamer coming from Windows, CachyOS would be near the top. When I started using Linux, it was dogshit for gaming. But it's come a long way. It seems the only games that don't work on Linux at this point are those which the studios intentially decided they wanted to block from running on anything other than Windows (for instance: Fortnite, BF6, any other game with "kernel anti cheat" aka rootkit level spyware)
That's awesome how you managed to get Cachy to look exactly like Windows 7. It feels like Year of the Linux desktop is something happening gradually over time rather than all at once.
>>
>>107378023
yeah it's super cool and just werks lol, havent had any major problems with it other then some weird issues like cachy automatically connecting to my 2.4GHz wifi instead of 5GHz or my audio being just stopping if no noise is playing but other then that everything works, I've got all the games I want to play working, a bit sad I cant run R6 anymore since my group is getting back into that but idm! I'm really enjoying the Win7 feel I got setup. I do urge you to try it out if you want, for my first ig proper distro that I'm just gonna run it's really cool!

there are many differing interpretations for the most effective form of capitalism and 100% of them are wrong, but some interpretations are better than others.
it happens that capitalism is best described as a system based on greed which self-corrects. The better interpretations stamp out the worse ones and in doing so reward their philosophers.
many interpretations can exist all at once, which is why the supreme court case Dodge vs Ford Motor Co. (1919) happened. government overreach awarding retards based on weak logic.

Well, all of them can fail and ultimately defer to the password option as final last resort, which this bug breaks.

Can't remember exactly but I think after entering my username I had to press tab (clicking the password box didn't work, it was grayed out) then enter my password without any feedback and then press the login button.
I think there was a hidden password prompt somewhere that could only be accessed via the keyboard.

Windows long horn was based on "consumer windows" codebase (that would be Windows xp) which had a shitty code base because they prioritized shipping features over making it clean. Windows long horn codebase turned out to be even shittier than xp's since xp's code was already shit.
So they reset development and rebased on "server windows" (That would be Windows Server 2K3. it's a). which begot vista (it needed some extra time in the oven)

Microsoft was never good, but white men that built it into a massive success are old and retired, they have been replaced by incompetent pajeets.
Nobody knows how windows works exactly anymore, because it never made sense to begin with (i.e. code related to the scrollbar in explorer.exe in the kernel), pajeets touch one part and something else breaks.
This is why they still haven't been able to migrate all the settings from Control Panel to the new settings.
I'm sure even Internet Explorer is still alive in some form somewhere in Windows.

Oh they're true.
I use Linux but have to do stuff on Windows from time to time and often get shocked how buggy it is.
My Gnome is far from bug free but Windows is far worse.

I strongly suspect they run just one automatic test for each dialog so if you don't do EXACTLY the same actions in the same sequence it can fail.
I feel if they just used like 100 human testers they could catch 99% of those bugs as someone if bound to click something the programmers didn't think of.

Insane NPC response

NPCs are by definition not insane. I think it is much weirder to prefer the dark ages over the roman empire. Sure, they may have had aqueducts, were the height of culture and technology that was of such a height of civilization that people are still larping them to this very fucking day, but you know what rules more? Germanic people living in wooden huts in the mud, looking at the ruins of the empire they destroyed and thinking that giants used to roam the world to have built them.

Famously everyone everywhere died of thirst before Rome provided easily haltable or fluoridatable water when they weren't dying instantly of tiny cuts because they didn't have modern "medicine" or being tortured to death in iron maidens (for all of the 3s it would take such a device to kill you) prior to the enlightenment
Everything good in Rome was already present in the rest of Europe, everything bad is responsible for almost destroying Europe.
If Rome never existed Europe would be better of.

>I think it is much weirder to prefer the dark ages over the roman empire.
Rome for all their technological aptitude was a horrible society at the end of the day. Roman people literally ate their lunch watching people die brutal, torturous and imaginative deaths in their theatres. Rich people were basically above the law and if you pissed them off and you weren't rich yourself they could literally send some thugs to kill and kidnap you. Tax collectors just bought contracts with the government for an X amount of money they would pay Rome and then farmed twice as much from the citizens fully legally. Imagine the Mexican government collapses and cartels just officially take over - it STILL wouldn't be as hellish a society as Rome was.

Christianity among other things has killed Rome, and that is true, but it was also a good thing. Technological progress reversed for a while after Rome fell but the feudal kingdoms the barbarians later founded were better places to live and Christianity has also civilized the Eastern Empire to a degree (but not entirely, it was still a corrupt shithole which directly led to the rise of Islam, that simply charged its subjects less taxes.)

Excel 2021 seems OK. I pretty much run it offline if I need it, which is when I'm occasionally trying to follow along in a finance class video or something, and I don't want to translate some obscurity into Calc LibreOfficean.

Why would LibreOffice make you rage? It does seem to rely on some inferior internals, in that it croaks more often with large price data sets than Excel does. It really doesn't matter to me too much though, I engineer around it for my needs in my longer lived solutions. I try to keep everything open source that I have to ultimately rely on, and only keep Excel for a fleeting need that I have yet to come up with a LOCalc solution for.

It is real. This happened around June this year. My last job I sold memberships and this Indian came in for a free offer. He got what the service for free but wanted the special promotion. I tried to sell him it. He instantly became a animal. He puffed out his chest and started yelling. He grabbed a pen and wrote down imaginary terms of the promotion.

"YOU SEE, I GET MORE IF I COME NEXT WEEK." He yelled this a dozen times. I was in a room of a few dozen people, half Mexicans and half White. I'm a American and live in a Mexican heavy area. Everyone was looking at him as he paced the room with his chest pumped out with his jeeta wife next to him bobbing her head. You think I'm bullshiting but I'm not. I tried telling how that won't work and he should pay today to lock in that price. The dude exploded and began to rub his chest against mine. I stood dumbfounded and smiled in awe on what to do in such a situation.

He grabbed another piece of paper and wrote a bunch of dates and price, trying to tell me how the pricing work. I couldn't help but hold in my laughter, so I said. "Sure, you can come by next week." When I folded, he stood strait and had a shudder of vigor and walked out like a peacock, like a dog who stole the bone.

Everyone began to laugh at the guy and all bagged on him with racial hate. I have never seen this before were a group of humans said racial slurs in public with actually disgust and hatered, and I was taken back how everyone was connecting by the sheer disgust of Indians. Like I was experience some /pol/ parody but it was real. Luckily I'm in a area with few jeets until this year I have seen more of them of the boats, so that was my first encounter with one besides the gas station. I have sold tons of Mexicans/Latins and not a single one acted like a animal like that, even black guys are cool to sell too.

When I saw the Izzat post it all made sense and why they act like this. No wonder why the brits abandon them.

You need either a GPU that supports being split to multiple endpoints (and an OS that supports it, which is pretty much only Linux on a Linux host), or these programs run like dogshit cause VMs without graphics pass through run like shit.

WINE doesn’t help most of the time either, cause these applications are 20+ years old and even if the current UI is React based, there’s still decades worth of Win32 API abuse hidden in there that abuse bugs, quirks or use weird uncommon features that WINE either hadn’t accurately recreated the bugs of, or hasn’t implemented. Many of the are also very picky about graphics drivers and only work properly on NVIDIA workstation (Quadro) cards

Holding guns to each department instead of optimizing and firing low performers, saar.

Bloody Bisexual Jannie Frank O'Connor posting racist shit on NeoGAF and NeoGAF 2.0 (formerly: REEEEEEEEsetERA) on company time explains a lot of it.

how does this happen?

the indians they hired to be their replacement for tech loving tech obsessed nerds is... guys who don't even like tech, it's just a job and a way out of the slums for them.
>>
>>107388237
and so this is what I say: they don't even use it.

they don't even use it.

The implications of this are profound. Apple is suffering from that as well, you can see it occasionally when they force a non-white to pretend they use their tech.

the indians just aren't /into/ tech.

The real answer is Windows is a Frankenstein monster at this point. Jeets, AI, less QA and testing budget just mean more problems.

The amount of SharePoint security bugs that keep rolling in week by week is also insane.

Have you tried Teams on Mac? I remember it running really poorly on a reasonable i5 8GB Dude Latitude laptop. Borderline nonfunctional. It runs fine on a modern M series Mac at least in my experience. I’m sure it’s because Proton was and continues to be absolute ass.

if smart people use LLMs they expand upon the tool to increase their productivity output.
If dumb low IQ people use LLMs they believe it is some sort of ghost in the machine and try to get it to do all the work to take credit for it.

Remember E = MC2 + AI . never forget this is who you are dealing with. This is their mindset

Genuinely they do not understand it. They have the collective tech knowledge of the very boomers they try to scam, every piece of tech that is associated with Indians was developed by white or Asian developers, designed to be as easy to use as possible.

>Due to this belief they stagnate and let all of their problems pile up to boiling point
>The codebase for Windows is clearly fucked up and hard to work with being an operating system spanning back over 30+ years, closed source to boot
>No one working in development knows how the system works anymore
>Microsoft are insanely greedy and run by billionaires that can smell the opportunity to become trillionaires so they jump on the AI bandwagon
>They force their employees to use AI, enforce policies REQUIRING AI usage in the workplace
>Suddenly after that Windows becomes grotesquely worse and everyone can tell its running like shit
>Blind to all complaints MS force AI into EVERY facet of the OS, start rambling about agentic agents agenting agentically all over their agentic OS
>Literally everyone trying to use windows is just begging for a return to Windows 7 style without the AI and advert bullshit everywhere

Microsoft would have collapsed decades ago if it wasn't for them basically owning the desktop OS environment. Once they lose that the decline will be instant.

Thanks for the guide. It's great how virtualization gives you the ability to run anything, and the Qubes approach makes it feel very unified and holistic under one system.
I got CachyOS running on here. Getting a standaloneVM to integrate with the rest of the system (networking, USB capability, audio) required some extra steps. I still don't have the ability to copy/paste or right-click on files and "send to other Qube" like you can with a Windows VM with QWT installed. But everything else works perfectly. You can do gaming with GPU passthrough on here. Just make sure the passed through video card is on its own IOMMU group so it doesn't share memory space with other PCI devices.

Considering how hard they're pushing for biometric login, I find it hard to believe this was an accident.
