Face it. Samsung is the best phone manufacturer. Here's why:
>A range of phones to suit every budget (unlike Apple and Google who only make premium phones)
>More security updates than most Android phone makers, especially for budget phones (I think most Samsung phones now get 6 or 7 years of security updates, whereas other Android phones might only get 3 years)
>Not Chinese, so you don't have to worry about the Chinese Communist Party harvesting your data
>Samsung's skin for Android (One UI) looks okay and it works decently
>>
my poco f5 still works
>>
>>107502770
If they're so great then why everytime my S22U downloads a OneUI update do half of my settings get reset? It shouldn't be changing the function of my power button or rearranging the apps on my home screen. Google and Apple don't do this.
>>

every time you get an sms from someone it hides 30% of the screen with a prompt of "do you want to save contact"
and theres no option to disable it

Am I mentally ill or whats the fuck is happening. This is insane.

Like you google the issue and you have several google forum questiosn about it with hundreds of "I have the same question" marked next to it and same canned response where you can send feedback

nigger, why do you need feedback on having an option to disable a niggerific prompt that hides a lot of the screen every single time

Have any of you lads ever tried data recovery on Android 10+? I've read that from Android 10 onwards it's basically impossible to recover data if you don't have any backups of them, due to file-based encryption.
I wonder if all the fancy shiny backup apps are a scam, or if there actually is a way to get the lost data back.
Asking for a friend actually, it's the typical case of "oops I deleted some photos and videos and now I want them back. Backup? What backup?"
>>
>>107504850
Google backup way more than you'd expect and I believe Samsung do too.

put yeah, HW level encryption with the master key gone? You're not getting access to that.

Main reason is the lack of expandable storage and the bad camera setup. If you don't care about either, then it's a good value for the hardware

To put it into perspective, those are the same main and tele camera as the S22 and the same ultrawide as on the S21.

They'll concur that it's a "well-rounded" compact flagship because it offers "polished software" and long software support, while still having a "versatile" triple camera setup.
Samsung can afford to do this for as long as apple does the same, despite the gap in software processing.

My Galaxy S20 FE has recently become my primary emulation device and it has a few annoying limits like not running 3DS games well beyond their native resolution. If you care about your privacy and also security, then Pixel + GrapheneOS.
However, if you do mobile banking first check if your bank application is supported on Android systems without Google Play's Integrity API.
https://privsec.dev/posts/android/banking-applications-compatibility-with-grapheneos/
Keep in mind this isn't the full list, so if you don't find your bank app here try running Android in a virtual machine, Android Studio, or BlueStacks/Waydroid and see if it works there. If it does, it should work on Graphene too.

Not to mention Samsung specifically has been known to give all your data to a certain country in the middle east. All of their A lineup has a non removable spyware app that has every permission on your system and can install other apps without your consent. Check Appcloud

Reminder all smartphone companies are working with governments and Palantir to actively spy on the users regardless if it's iOS or Android. After the 2012 Snowden leaks and the more recent Pegasus leaks this should be the unfortunate truth everyone accepts. Pegasus bypasses encryption on both iOS and Android too btw.
>>

shameless self bumping this. I have a flir one that is the iphone version, but I have an android (motarola) phone. I have several apple devices I could use with it but none of them are recent and I can't install the appropriate software on them because they don't have new enough operating systems, but the same apps USED to run on the ios version they DO have so I figure I just need to find an older version that was released before the newer OS's came out.

Alternatively, if I get an adapter that converts the lightning *protocol* into USB-C, would I be able to use that with my android phone? In other words, how likely is it that the ONLY difference between the apple and android versions of the flir one is the protocol it uses to communicate with the phone?

I've been a custom rom enjoyer since the first droid razr and cyanogen, nowadays I don't pay much attention to my phone so I'd appreciate some guidance.
I have a Poco F3, unlocked bootloader with OrangeFox Recovery and crDroid ROM (A14 I think). I was wondering whether I should go back to Lineage 19.1 (Android 12L) mainly because of my current poor battery life and how PlayIntegrityFork works best in in (https://github.com/osm0sis/PlayIntegrityFork)
My main questions are:
- Is it safe to downgrade my recovery? OrangeFox has a specific version for <A12 and >A13 (since I'm on A14 i'm on an incompatible version for A12 LOS)
- I'd like to try out KSU Next instead of Magisk this time, but I've been getting mixed information when it comes to its compatibility with LineageOS. Do I need a custom kernel with the compatibility built in or can I just patch the image myself?
- How much of a pain in the ass it is to bypass the integrity checks on the latest LOS? I've found this https://xdaforums.com/t/updated-11-25-2025-guide-get-strong-integrity-fix-banking-apps-revolut-google-wallet-android-16-working.4753805/ and it looked like a massive pain in the ass, this is the main reason I'm thinking about going back to A12, so that way I can just use PlayIntegrityFork and be done with it.
- If you own a Poco F3 (or anything with a SD870) how's android 15? I'm mainly interested on your SOT compared to older versions.
Thanks.

Israel is way more aggressive than China when it comes to spying the average western citizen because they're afraid of a surge of antisemitism.
The Chinese don't care about the average westerner political views, they only care about taking marketshare and bribing a few locals politicians into giving them fair trade because they know most Western companies can't compete on a free market.

>Yes, they do. Silicon-carbon batteries are chemically prone to swelling earlier and more aggressively than standard lithium-ion batteries.
>Here is the breakdown:
> * Violent "Breathing": When charging, a standard battery anode expands about 10%. A silicon anode expands up to 300%.
> * Mechanical Stress: This massive daily expansion creates internal cracks and consumes the liquid electrolyte faster.
> * The Result: This chemical breakdown releases gas, causing the "spicy pillow" (swelling) effect much sooner in the battery's lifecycle.

I am thinking of replacing my phone (Samsung A51) because I've had it for over 5 years and it's quite literally falling apart.
So I'm thinking Pixel 9a, 9 or 9 Pro.
Pro is kind of pricey, would you say it's worth it trying to buy used/refurbished or is the risk too big?
Also I have 128GB memory in my current phone and I never filled it, any point paying extra for 256GB in that case?

I don't really play games or anything, my main use case for phones is text chatting and making photos, but it'd be nice to get something extra for once maybe.

this is very device specific (talking about which recovery supports your current firmware), you should be asking this on telegram group of your phone not here
you have 4.19 on f3 which doesn't support gki kernels, therefore you need to sideload a prebuilt kernel with ksunext
bypassing integrity checks, apps like revolut detect lineageos specifically so if you want to do the painful route of banking just google what your app detects and then use either magisk alpha with nohello + rezygisk or ksunext with susfs and some other modules
in june i was on android 11 and update killed device integrity back to basic so i stopped bothering with low versions since

Slow chargers are a proven meme, but keeping your charge capacity away from 0% and 100% can immensely help your overall SoT until your battery noticeably degrades.
- always only charging from 10% to 90% = 5%-15% more lifetime SoT
- always only charging from 20% to 80% = 10%-20% more lifetime SoT
- always only charging from 30% to 70% = 15%-40% more lifetime SoT

>Is it worth doing
Very subjective. This entirely depends on how often you charge your phone and how long you plan on using it. If your normal use is charging the phone from 0/10%-100% once a day or two and you plan on keeping your phone for over 2-3 years, then it might be worth it.
But then again, even if you are a "heavy user" you need to ask yourself what can you tolerate more between your battery life noticeably degrading as soon as 2 years of use compared to you having to charge your phone more often (maybe even 2x-3x a day, compared to 10%-100% once a day).
And it also depends on what happens after you're done with it. If you plan on reselling it or giving it away to someone, people generally value phones with a good battery a lot more.

I'd say it's irrelevant and not worth it for most people to pay attention to the battery health. An average person gets to 80% battery degradation only after 2-4 years of use. At that point you're likely looking to get a new phone, or just do a battery replacement for under $50 and keep using your phone for another 3 years.
So the question really is, is $50 worth your increased attention to battery health?
>>
>>107524534

>t. battery health above 90% after 4 years
This doesn't really mean much since it entirely depends on how heavily you use your phone and the phone model/efficiency/battery capacity. A non-heavy user that charges their phone from 0-20 to 100% can be completely careless if they only charge the phone once every 2-7 days. They'd have the same battery health as someone charging their phone from 20% to 80% every day.
>slow charger
This is a complete meme. A phone designed with fast charging in mind will not degrade the battery any more when comparing a slow charge vs fast charge. What's actually preserving your battery health is your charge limit. A slow charger is just you deliberately inconveniencing yourself.

And again, giving a shit about battery health is not something that everyone would be fine with because it's still inconvenient to most people.
Unless you're exclusively charging your phone over night, a slow charger means you can use your phone less often or you're more commonly forced to use it while plugged in (for no real benefit at all, slow charging doesn't do anything to help battery degradation).
Meanwhile, a charging limit means you have to charge your phone more frequently, maybe even multiple times each day. An average person doesn't tolerate this much of an SoT degradation on a single charge.

All that is just a difference between using your phone in a more convenient manner for 4 years, compared to inconveniencing yourself for 4.5-5 years (maybe up to 6.5 if you're doing something extreme like keeping 30%-70% charge). And this is only in the ideal scenario where a "careless" person never slightly "tops up" their phone and always charges it to 100%.
Most people buy a new phone every 2-4 years anyway. And even if you're a person to keep a device for 5-10 years, it's still more convenient to just do a battery replacement every 4-6 years.

>600 eur for a Pixel 9 Pro XL 256GB
Sounds fine, slightly cheaper than average I think.

Reminds of the movie Cronos. It'll be powered by human blood.

Just use your pc Nigger. Android phones are not good for anything after ps2.
>>
>>107510680
Only redmagic are strong enough for emulation anything after ps2. For Wii, ps3, 3ds, switch You need a dedicated gpu with at least 6/8 core cpu

Is it a good idea to go to Verizon and get a iPhone pro 17 max for 500 dollars then cancel my debit card and get a new one and keep the device? That's a 1000 dollars off phone
Yes it won't be able to make calls but I don't care I already have a really really cheap shitty phone that can make calls and texts I just want a nice mini tablet
I don't care about my credit score
>>
>>107528353
You can switch to visible or Verizon prepaid if the phone is locked and it will work. You can transfer your number too. Usually Verizon iPhones are unlocked, but if it isn’t you can just get prepaid lol.
>>
>>107528422
Oh cool my credit is shit or I'd get it for free zero down. Is T-Mobile cheaper?
>>
>>107528503
If it’s unlocked you can use T-Mobile, but if it’s locked you must use the same network as Verizon so you can get visible or Verizon prepaid. Enjoy anon. :D

Does anyone know if there's an Android app that I can share files to and it'll just upload it to a remote website (POST req w/ Basic HTTP auth)?
I'm currently using a flimsy Termux script that hijacks termux-file-editor, but setting it up on each phone I get is a bit annoying.

I regret missing the early bird deal on Poco F8 Pro, everything looks terribly overpriced in my shithole right now
I guess I'm going to spend yet another year with my extremely old phone if no big sales happen until the end of this month

Problem is that it needs to keep running the fiber in the background instead of just registering it in the share menu and executing when I trigger it from a share.
I tried it with Tasker too, but for whatever reason whenever the task is triggered from an event it just dies after posting the first notification and giving me the missing notification group message (even though I've generated the notif group already it and it works fine when I run the task manually).
I guess I'll just have to vibe code it over the weekend or something.

I don't use smartphones much but I got a cheap Pixel 6a for my trip to Japan. After arriving the phone was kind enough to tell me about it's battery issues.
I am testing the battery right now after 500+ loading cycles to see whether it can last me a day over there. How much screen time should I expect with this model and does anyone have any experiences with batteries usage while abroad? I just need Google Maps to not get lost.
And more importantly, will that thing explode despite the very little usage I am planning?
Cheerio!

iphone 17 pro max now or wait for s26 ultra? iphone looks amazing but i fear i might miss some apps like revanced stuff, kuroba and general google shit like lens screencap search and well all the google logins
the design and general performance of the iphone seems to mog the shit out of all android devices so far so that might be an okay trade off

looking for opinions, kind anons.

eh there are alternatives to these, and google apps are also on ios
it's not painful until you try to do shit like running a self hosted backup solution

>How much screen time should I expect with this model
I assume 500+ cycles means it's battery health is at 80% or slightly lower. It really depends on how far it's gone. Just using Google Maps isn't actually that demanding, so you're probably looking at 5h-8h of screen time with it depending on various other factors.

Thanks. Should be fine just for travelling. I wonder whether getting a replacement battery is actually worth it then. So far the phones seems to behave fine under load.
