Should I fraudmaxx and apply for higher roles that I am probably not suited for? Lead, solution architecture, management, etc.
>>107504155Can you fake it til you make it? are the job requirements "it would be nice if your knew xyz" or are they "you must be an expert in xyz, your whole job will revolve around it"
I'm literally shaking right nowMy manager keeps taking credit for my work by saying "our task", "we are doing", etc but he hasn't contributed a single line of code and I wrote 4k lines. How do I tackle this? The org is starting to go to him for problems to a certain nature, all of which he then relays to me and asks me how it would be solvedHow the fuck do I deal with this?
>>107504155I fart maxx in my cubicle.
>>107504248What the FUCK are you talking about? There is literally no problem with that. That is what it means to be in charge of a team. He is responsible for the output of the team, he gets credit for the team's success, and he is on the hook for any of the team's failures. Your job is to be the code monkey. You are NOT a manager or director. If this displeases you and you want to chase clout and climb the corporate ladder, then that's a completely different story. In that case, pursue a leadership position instead of a programmer position.zoomers, I swear man
>>107504155Honestly I hate this job market. Feels like you gotta grift to get anywhere now.
I cancelled my claude pro subscription because it didn't feel like it was worth $20/mo for it to generate entry-level javascript. It's pretty shit at C++ and if you query it for configuring, say, some CI/CD tool, its training data is usually not good enough to give you a correct answer. The amount of fuckups it makes it just not worth $20/mo to me. Maybe $5/mo.
>>107504325Having a manager/product owner barely involved in a project you were the sole developer for getting an award/shout out for work you did is a right of passage for developers. It's awkward as fuck when you're with the rest of the developers at the end of year talk/presentation and it happens (especially if they know it was your project). But you soon get used to it and just laugh about it.
>>107504369Javascript is lower cast work anon. Just deport your work to some nepalese sherpas.
>>107504369Just use Gemini, don't need to subscribe to anything
>>107504373>>107504325huh, so this is totally normal and I shouldn't talk to his manager about this?I don't want to work of my work gets 100% attributed to my manager and not me.How can you laugh about this?
>>107504431Developers never get credit, the ones who get credit are the ones the people asking for a product/feature talk to.There used to be employee of the month awards at my place, developers never ever won it except for one time when everyone on the dev team got together to vote for a single person.
>>107504459How do you cope with that type of non-meritocracy? Assuming the managers were fairly dumb, generally inept, and were repackaging work their subordinates created.I recently contacted my manager's manager. Saying, feel free to direct people to me, or include me in discussions about X since I designed and implemented the whole project related X (that my manager says this "makes **us** look good").I think it's fair, reasonable, and a healthy way to approach this.
>>107504125for the bonus, retard. looks like you might have been scammed. ask a lawyer if the laws in your country allow that shit, just in case. lawyers won't charge you for a simple question.
>>107504522When you get experience, you learn to appreciate being shielded from the rest of the business. People hate developers, they're responsible for everything that is wrong with the product in their views. Better to not deal with that and also not get the occasional wider praise. People on the dev team know what you do, that's enough. >>107504533Bonus's are bonuses, they're not contractual and as it's a company wide thing, it's not a case of being targetted.
>>107504574>People on the dev teamI'm the only one in this department, so they actually don't and I have no one. I'm actually quite grateful just you are listening and responding to me. It makes me feel a bit better to discuss this. Thank you
>>107502290>performance reviewSuch a totally meaningless thingYour performance does not set your salaryThe job market does
>>107504533Furry larper you do not know anything about US Law or the Free Market. Study a few certs before forming an opinion.
>>107504770Take your meds anon.
>>107504574>Bonus's are bonuses, they're not contractualanon... if your employer offers something, it could be considered a contract. I think it would be in my country.>it's a company wide thingand? if anything, that might be even worse for your employer>>107504770>you do not know anything about US Lawwhere did the other anon even mention being in the US? he actually said here >>107503635>what amounts to $50kso he could be being paid in other currency
Is architect a comfy do-not much job?
>>107504615That's a "I need to review what I'm getting from this job" situation. Is there a chance of any career progression, is the money fine, are you continually getting experience in good skill areas? Easy to rot as a lone developer with no advancement routes.
>>107504615I'm not that anon but I'll try to give you some advice. Dealing with those types of people is a special type of hell for tech-oriented people. They exist off of appearances and feelings and backstabbing. Insomuch as you are shielded from them be thankful. If you want to make more money then go ahead and start dipping your toes into that world, but you risk overstepping your immediate boss and getting burnt. Getting closer to where the money flows = more money, but every executive and higher up has their own shit going on and can't think of or thank every peon that pops up.
>>107504805Rope yourself pathetic miserable A+less furnigger. You have never had a job in your life.
Finally got my work laptop! Gonna throw Kubuntu and SteamOS on this bitch dualboot hehe
>>107504840I'm happy with the money, and my company does these title bumps, rather than different jobs being much different... Last month I looked for job and there was nothing in my country. I applied to 50ish places and they were all fairly sus.I do a bunch of side projects, so I feel like I can keep up, but yet, being so alone like this is still an atrophy compared to others.>>107504876Yeah, it's pretty sweet I can go weeks without being contacted by colleagues. That is something to be happy about in a few ways.I don't want to manage people. I don't think it's a needed role. everyone can write their own reports, and those can be digested by am AI (the managers role). It's a privilege to work on problems, not looking for problems to pair with solutionscheers dude
>>107504431>>107504522You're part of a team. The manager is shielding you from rabid clients that will try everything in their power to make your life hell if they even knew you were on this project. The less the client knows about the actual organization of the team, the better. At least for a manager it is better, because they can now decide to assign people to the mission at their leisure.Besides, it's true. "We" is a correct term to use, even if you don't like it. You represent the team. You are letting your ego get in the way. It feels good to have people give you pats on the back but it feels less good when you are personally blamed for shit going on, and having clients that could have a problem with YOU in particular. When that day comes around, you'll be very happy that everyone keeps saying "the team" instead of "retarded anon over there". Trust me.
>>107504796KYS gay faggot furnigger. Fags go to HELL when they die. You should go real soon now that everyone knows you're stolen valor. :)
>>107505104The "clients" are only colleagues. We don't face outside the org, and pur colleague are teddy bears. I trust you though, it's nice to hide in a shadow, but this dude does cast one with our situation. This is why I suspect he's clinging onto grassroots. Nothing major going on and he "needs this" for something his "team" (me) achieved with his awesome leadership (anon, do X, here is what the colleague said they wanted - no it's not digested for you, it's verbatim)
>it's another "IT zoophiles won't give me the admin password to my laptop" episodeLooks like I'll have to put Kali on it bare metal. Why are furfaggots like this?
>>107504248I was in your shoe before but honestly yeah, your work is suppose to be in the shadows. If you want the fame and glory, yeah become a manager but then you have to deal with tardwrangling, decision making, and office politics. I'd rather not, so I put my head down nod when nod and keep on trucking along.
>>107505224Oh someone's going to learn today. kek let me guess european?
I wish to learn enlightenment at work. I used to be a really stressed out wiglet but I realized if I turn my brain off and just stop overthinking (even if it's for the company or project's benefits) things get much better. Yes. This project is retarded and that's okay. Just say yes and do the work and if anything's so dumb just say "nope can't do it" otherwise yup! I'll look into it.
>>107505225Okay, well I appreciate you sharing and discussing thisI wish there was a more dignified way for you to work, but you seem to be doing ok?
>>107505163Yeah I don't know your exact work structure and what you do, I'm just saying, I think the situation is okay. I understand your frustration, but also if you view it from his POV, it's probably just that he has the kind of mindset I'm talking about (often seen in big4), to always invoke "we", "the team", before talking about specific people. seems like you havent been in that sort of environment yet, but man, when you're in those, you're really happy someone is tard wrangling for you for some stuff. The best of both worlds is to find a way to let your manager know that you like knowing if you're doing a good job, and basically get some credit that way. Mentally you'd probably feel better. He probably also doesn't realize you're feeling like he's stealing your thunder. It's also the only thing that matters, anon. If your manager and your higher ups in general are happy with what you do, that matters more than whatever the fuck the retarded shit clients have to say. ik you are in a different type of org but just keep that in mind. Ego can get you in trouble.
>>107505231I am American and WHITE cybersec chad you retarded faggot kill yourself.
>>107505273As I said if you want razzle dazzle you can move up, but that trades in some other stupid shit which can be better or worse for you. You just gotta throw your ego/pride away. Don't let work define you. Do the bare minimum for shit you don't like and feel free to let loose for shit you do like and honestly for me, if that means I stay in the shadows and can put my head down to work on stuff I like rather than be in hour long meetings of people fucking going around in circles when the solution is freaking bonkers. Listen, I don't agree with a lot of what my manager does or the direction of our projects, but once you learn to stop caring, it's just whatever. As long as they don't throw you under the bus, it's all fine with me even if upper management keeps asking for retarded stuff.
>>107505289>>107505224is this a larp?
I finally had my first>good morning, quick call?momentWas kinda thinking it was just a meme but it's all real
Maybe it is bipolar, but I really wonder why some days I'm just like "meh work is good nothing bothers me" and then other days it's "OMFG I HATE EVERYONE STOP MESSAGING ME AHHHH".I should start tracking things to figure out what causes me to feel like this randomly.

>>107505331>throw you under the busYeah if they do that, then that is bullshit. A manager gets to reap the benefits of good results, AND must be on the hook for bad results. If your manager privatizes the gains but socializes the losses, he's shitty and deserves your ire.

It will take months just to register a simple GET API the proper way.We just do everything under the table at this point and hope cybersec doesn't catch us.It is fucking hell.Meanwhile despite all the shit, some nigger from my team managed to have on of his apps hacked. And guess what happened? He got a big fat promotion. It's a complete circus and you need to kys.

>>107506258I know as a man, soiciety kinda expects you to be an emotionless robot but no need to internalize that completely. It's fine to feel different emotions as long as you don't publicly cry.
>>107505395that's... normal? having to endure retarded normies and, even worse, incompetent coworkers and managers fucking sucks
>>107505395When this happens I just take a deep breath, remember it is unnatural to get mad at someone who doesn't know any better for acting like an idiot, double the estimate of whatever task I'm doing and take a break from work watching TV or going for a walk.
>>107506312>>107506297man it might be depression tbf i've had bouts where at night i have trouble sleeping going "oh fuck oh fuck why didn't i try harder in school, why didn't i try harder to make friends, why was i such a scared social butterfly, this is it im going to fucking die alone oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck" then the morning hits and it's like "meh anyways, time to hit the gym." yeah yeah depression doesn't exist, trying to teach my brain that. you guys feel the same too?
>>107506333I did exceed my limits with my education so I'm satisfied with where I'm at academically or career-wise. Maybe a CS masters in the future and some certs, but my pay is okay, considering the market. As for >tfw no gf or real friends, it is what it is. I take care of my appearance and health and go to the gym, so maybe I'll one day get both, probably have to put some effort in.There's no real point in regretting anything. My biology and social background were hard limits to begin with, even overcoming some of that is praiseworthy.

You can always switch tech stacks once you make money and start hitting bottlenecks.
Is anyone still remote? How about actively defying rto?I have a problem not with my manager but with other colleagues asking to discuss things in person. If I humor them and come in then they're busy and we don't even talk. It's completely disrespectful of my time but I can't really complain or do anything because we're supposed to be in for these pointless drop in sessions. These fuckers will probably rat me out and cause problems to my manager who has taken a don't ask don't tell policy.

I have a contract position as a software developer. I currently make about 85k + overtime as a contractor. I do a lot of overtime since the team I'm on is very small (4 of us including myself). My team wants to add me as a full time employee, but the offer I got was 80k. I'll also be expected to be on call. According to my coworkers, on call is the worst part of the job.The salary range posted for the position was 75k-85k and I actually initially asked for 90k. If I take this position, I would be getting WAY better benefits, but the pay is way below what I currently make. But I also don't know if I'll be able to get another job like this. The one thing I like about this job that made me stay despite the amount of work is that it's 100% remote. Also I haven't gone job searching in a while but I've heard it's incredibly difficult to find a job doing software development right now.I'm honestly not sure what I should do here. Should I take the offer? I'm leaning towards yes, because even though the pay is worse, I at least secured a job. They mentioned raises, but my coworkers told me they hardly get a raise and if they do get something it's usually very small. I already spoke to HR 3 times already trying to negotiate. I feel like I'm getting cucked but the other option is having no job.

>>107511956I enjoyed going to japan while I raked in 2.4k a month unemployment, but it ran out a few months ago. Hated the actual job hunting. 5-6 hours a day of putting in apps and reaching out to companies and recruiters.

>>107512114fuck that. i wanted a good job quick. i got enough rest in. my typical week was lift for 2 hours and apply for 5-6 hours every weekday and then go to concerts on the weekend. im also kinda stubborn, so if i dont get results i just keep trying harder and different approaches until i get what i want. it started off with like an hour or two a day and spiralled up to the 5-6 hours once i got into a rythym.

>>107512487>>107512217my ratio of callbacks increased dramatically when i started only applying to stuff that genuinely looked interesting and where i could write a cover letter that actually highlighted some real experience/interest in whatever the company does, and did eventually get a job (that im sure i'll hate in 3 to 6 months but w/e i make more than my local dimebag dealers do)
The de facto lead developer at the company insists on communicating via video calls. Almost never writes anything. If he bothers making a Jira instead of just calling you about what he wants and expecting you to create the Jira about his requirements, the Jira is written by Claude. But it's okay because we have "AI meeting notes that will just take down everything needed".He wanted me to start working on something after I finished my current task, but he called me using a 1:1 Slack huddle, so there weren't even AI meeting notes.
>>107512525Honestly what worked for me was a full resume rewrite. I told ChatGPT to be as brutal as possible with its criticism from the perspective of a recruiter, hiring manager and ATS. I then added bs metrics to as many tasks as possible and trimmed the fat of my skills section. Thats what finally got me the job. Didnt bother with cover letters, I eventually got the job off an easy apply on zip recruiter. I also did alot of interview prep in the form of technical questions, rehearsing speeches, and watching videos on how to interview well.

Should I aim for a project manager or architect path?I know that these are hard to compare.Mostly, I'm comparing the ease of finding a new job (if there will be one, with AI), and money. From my current, tech-orientrd, perspective, architect role feels more prestigious and easier to go back to coding/ops from, but maybe upper management sees pms as more valuable. I am going to tell you a story of how I got a job that I am still working, three years ago. The story of retardation and unimaginable incompetence. It all starts with me quitting a stupid MSP gig and wanting to work in a less corporate environment, on the last job I worked as a Windows sysadmin with light CentOS/Ubuntu, Hyper-V. The MSP job was the only real sysadmin experience I had, lots of enterprise setups, lots of work /w AD and all things Windows, even the fucking DPMs which I hate to this day.>2022, leave job because it sucks and i'm always stressed> too many tickets, too many complaints about just about fucking everything> fuck you Janice from HR> look for job> find a small local company working in finance, ~ 30 employees> apply, talk /w lovely old owners and get hired ( red flag)First day was basically a warm handoff, going over where things are and the topology of the network.> Simple AD setup /w all devices connected to the AD ( more on that later)> Simple network topology, one hardware firewall for the office area, one VPN tunnel for employee devices> Half a dozen printers ( fuck), one file share server > Security handled through ESET ( whew, i like ESET)> Go through the physical setup, where each of the boxes are situated, how labelling is handled etc.So far so good right? Second day is where shit hits the fan> Active Directory is comprised of two domain controllers, pretty standard right?> Both ADs are on a single dedicated box as twin Hyper-V VMs - fuck> Per old guy, " the piece of shit goes down every few weeks but I tell them that I'm running a maintenance"> Both ADs are Windows Server 2012r2 - fuck> Learn about GPOs he dished out, learn about the DNS set up > Everything is fucking stupid> Anika the HR kraut has unrestricted domain admin access This is just foreplay, I have a couple of good stories that happened over the past three years aside from nerd shit.
>>107514562Working with friends is not a good idea.
>>107515348To give you guys a little taste of Active Directory retardation I endured, I'll disclose what happened early on ~ two weeks into my employment with Dumpsterfire LLC.> Go to work, still getting used to the environment, running menial tasks, oddly quiet, few AD user lockouts from a couple of places> Start auditing the Active Directory and figuring out how to modernize the piece of shit> Review ADUC, notice that out of 42 devices, only 28 respond> Huh> Make rounds through the office> WORKGROUP, WORKGROUP, WORKGROUP, dumpsterfire.local, WORKGROUP, WORKGROUP> What the fuck? And there we have it, this is why complaints about frequent AD outages weren't as bad. Turns out that most devices aren't joined to the active directory because fucking Anika the HR Kraut told everyone 2 years ago that they can use her account to disjoin their devices from the AD, thus getting more ''autonomy'' on their computers. > Call old guy since he said he'd be available for questions as he's been working there for 30 years> "Oh yeah, they didn't care about it and no one ever complained"> Jesus fucking christCome to find out that half the office was team AD because they could pull stuff from the file share and half was team> personal>fucking>USB
>>107514637I commute 15 minutes x2 three times a week and still have to wake up 90 minutes earlier than during my wfh days. Couldn't imagine living with just 6 hours of sleep per night.
>>107515348>>107515405Explain me how any of this is a problem as long as the paycheck keeps coming.
>>107515405Non issues anon. You are a cry baby by the looks of it. Also consider reading books that pertain to your job and it will help you greatly in these situations.
>>107515433See, this is where we fundamentally disagree.I could have left everything as is, but there's also a chance that everything comes crashing down because of the infrastructure at the time being extremely, extremely retarded. Which puts me out of a job. Back in 2022, I think October, I ran a security test to see how employees respond to phishing e-mails. I sent out a simple phishing e-mail which named Dumpsterfire LLC by name and sent it to the entire company e-mail alias ( handled through thank fuck, gmail workspaces at the time).Out of 37 recipients, 32 opened the e-mail, out of 32 who opened the e-mail, 30 downloaded the attachment which was called dumpsterfire.dll. 5 employees were on paid time off. Coupled with a reasonable amount of users using personal USBs and at the time still disjoined computers and no ESET on the workstation, this sets a precedent that we are all doomed, which funnily enough happened in 2023 because one of the retards kept denying my requests to join the device to the AD, delegate some GPOs and management wouldn't force them to do it because:'our employees should be empowered to seek solutions on their own as much as you should be empowered to advise them on best practices'Also, bear in mind that at the time, I was still in the corporate sysadmin mindset, where a few minutes of downtime was treated as end of everything.
>>107514810Architect role no doubt
>>107515453Indeed, these are non-issues if your user base is agreeable and happy to modernize. In all my employment /w Dumpsterfire LLC, every attempt to modernize and improve was met with extreme levels of scrutiny. I convinced the boss to splurge some money on new infra, so right now we're at a good spot, the first few years however were an absolute disaster. Cry baby? Perhaps, but I don't think wanting to make sure your infra is running and will be running in the foreseeable future is a hallmark of a crybaby.I'm sure that reading books about retards could help me a great deal with dealing with my user base, but I'm no psychologist.
>>107515492>happy to modernize. No corporate or government place in the world wants to modernize anything unless it is free to the company.

>>107520382I'm getting moved in the new year too. I'm probably going to quit because of it. My seat now has a decent view out the window and is near some good cafes. But after the move I'll be in some interior section with no windows and no good cafes nearby.
that anon who calls everyone he disdains "furfaggot" is in /utwg/I think he is like "certs are everything" because all he has is certs and no job and he doesn't like the fact that people with zero certs are happily employed working in IT>>107500203Thoughts on this stunning revalation?
>manager decided he wants to send a weekly newsletter on our project>makes us write it
>>107520517My sanity forces me to recognize it as a troll and not someone who actually thinks A+ matters to anyone
>>107520517i posted in that thread for the first time ever and that dude called me a furnigger and told me to kill myself. i don't even know who he's talking about. this place truly attracts the giga schizos

what games are we looking forward to at the tga?
>>107519328I'd probably go full sperglord and answer something like >"Mountain Dew. Wait, do you mean like an alcoholic drink? I like Four Lokos hahahaha, unless you mean when I'm out at like, the club or something, then I- you know, people usually assume I don't go to clubs, and I get why because I don't know how to do all this social stuff h*voice crack*ahahahaha ha but every so of- uhh, anyway when I'm out at a bar or club or whatever I usually order an AMF but sometimes they look at me weird like they've never heard of it and I'm like actually yeah I don't know what's in there either so I just order a whiskey sour, unless we're doing shots, then I'm a big fan of Smirnoff® Sour™ Berry Lemon©, that stuff's delicious, though usually they don't have it so I just go with whatever's cheapest, which I think was Tito's last time I was at, uhh... man where was that, I feel like it was [local pseudo-goth nightclub], or uhh... wait, sorry, did you mean alcoholic or, uhh, not alcoholic?"
>>107503112and this is why they all insist on changing their UI every year.Google maps used to work great, but then some retard came up with the bright idea to estimate orientation by differentiating GPS position and using the resultant velocity vector to orient the map. So now, when you come to a stop and ANY change is measured from the gyro or accelerometer, it just loses track of its orientation. It used to work fine because it used the magnetometer, but of course the midwit who implemented the new method wanted to impress their boss because they took a calc class once. Probably an intern. I thank God every day that I got out of that bullshit ratrace. Too bad all the services we've come to "love" are rapidly devolving because every new hire has to rewrite shit in the latest fad language to justify their inflated salaries. There is no reason these glorified code plumbers should be making the same money as doctors who actually help people and have real consequences when they fuck up. They need to cut SWE salaries down to the level of BA, accounting, or sales, so that it's commensurate with the actual dollar value they bring to the company. Problem is that there's not an easy way to objectively quantify the value a SWE adds to the company.
>>107521769I missed when companies added features and most importantly added options to the advanced features so you can customize its software.
>>107505990This is the norm.
>>107519328>"What's your favorite drink?"otokonoko cum
What a cursed response. And this is coming from a guy who's "witnessed" "stuff". I wouldn't drink that ever.
>\twg\ is the only remotely tech thread on \g\Feels really bad. I just want to talk tech with people online, so I do not feel a need to talk to coworkers.
I work a job that I dislike. I have been given a offering in another company for a job I would most certainly dislike too (with higher pay). What would you do? Would you accept it?Or perhaps I should stay where I am until I find something that interests me?
>>107522172I would just quit and neet for a few years (decades)
Im really excited to start working next week! I'm gonna buy an SD-2 guitar as a christmas gift for myself.
>>107504248If your manager is also a dev, you should absolutely speak up if he's hogging all of the credit. Chances are he's a slimy snake taking advantage of your meek personality and talking shit behind your back. In order to deal with this, you need to drop hints or be explicit during meetings that you're responsible for all of the work. If you do nothing, he'll destroy your reputation until it becomes nothing. You won't even able to get a good reference for your next job.
>>107504248>How do I tackle this?On a call>that was some really great work you did, can you speak a bit on how you implemented x or how y works? it seems really interesting!Do it enough and you'll either get a PIP or people will notice whats up.
>>107522441What are some decent discords to post in while you're sitting in 4 hours worth of useless meetings? I'm in a few tech discords but they're all rather dead. The bigger ones are overrun with jeets and redditors. >>107504248Bringing it up and confronting him about it. >>107522441> You won't even able to get a good reference for your next job. Then you sue them. This is why formal references are rather useless. Everyone fears a potential lawsuit so they give a neutral reference at worse confirming the dates someone worked. The only thing you might get through a ref check is if someone worked there for a certain period, the rest is legally tricky to obtain.
>>107520517I have no certs, just a masters degree and 5 years of experience. Honestly it doesn't feel like much changed in the 5 years since I graduated uni. Except making friends got difficult as fuck as an adult.
>>107522798>Friends as an adultThis is the modern era you make friends with a harem of body pillows and you vill like it.
>>107522823Haha that's definitely not what I want to do. I'm coming out of a relationship and suddenly have seas of free time. I'm not even sure what people my age bracket do nowadays (26-32). Most of the interactions I have are superficial, shallow and creating any kind of depth of conversation is difficult. I have one extremely good friend and a few connections and that's about it.
>>107516850Yes, I got a job at a defence contractor making like 60k doing typical IT dustman shit. The pay sounds embarrassingly bad, and it is, but so is the rest of my country. but the benefits are pretty good.It was also only one interview, when I broke down and emailed back asking "Did I not get it?" they responded within a few business days, and they paid me to sit at home doing nothing while I got a new clearance. Though no WFH ever again though. Airgapped system, please understand. (I can't even access it from my proper desk and have to go two rooms over to do anything useful)>>107522404Based anon treating himself. How'd your annual review go, bros?
>>107524460Got downgraded from 4 to 3 (out of 5). Manager's excuse is that HR are forcing them to give 4 only to exceptional workers, while 5 are company-wide superstars. 3 is "good".
>>107524460Don't got one.
I make 26k/year
>>107524460got postponed to next week because they are busy with layoffs
>>107524784How do you live or are you not in the US?If you're working an internship then thats actually acceptable. My first internship was at a non-profit and I was making a meager $8 an hour as head IT admin for an office of ~20 people (and i was limited to 20 hours a week) and i actually enjoyed it and learned a lot. There was a contracting agency that placed me there and told me to come to them with questions and they were surprised how well i performed but looking back I would have done things completely differently.
>>107524784I make 69k€/year.
>>107524845EU yeah and I'm lucky to even have this job after a year of unemployment>>107524853Wow!
>>107524871>EU yeah and I'm lucky to even have this job after a year of unemploymentYeah, thats rough, especially the pain of looking for work and being let down for that long. I was in the same boat in 2019 and the solution for me was identifying as hispanic on applications. The resulting job lasted 5 years until mass layoffs affected me.I got a job fairly quickly, making less than I did before but the environment is friendly and the work is exciting, making it worth it. I hope yours is at least enjoyable too or at least you gain valuable experience from it

>>107524871Yah I make only 95k euro a year coming from 145k but I prefer the 95k role (wirh like +18k in retirement so more like 113k) any day. The 150k euro was contracting everything provision and was only that amount if I was working hours and got projects. Ideally it would be 180k but that's with no downtime / off days which never happens.I might do it again though if I can get a project for a year with a more senior rate (so instead of charging like 80ish an hour I'd be charging 110+). I was very close to getting a year long (with high chance of renewal) at 120/hr for 36 hours per week, still a bit salty I didn't get it.
