Is it worth getting something like the Seasonic Prime 1300 (400 bongs) over the ASRock Taichi 1300 (320 bongs) or HX1500i (240 bongs)? They're all ATX3.1 compliant.2.) >>107510699You don't even have to use the full 800W to benefit from it. Keeping it at 600W already increases performance because asus made the bios have better throttling behavior than other bioses and it having a much higher base offset mhz also means that the bios clock stretches far less than if you manually OC'd any other bios. I currently have an i7 13700k and it shit the bed again, 2nd time, to what CPU should I upgrade to keep my system working stable for some time to come? Asus b760, RX 7800xt and 128gb DDR4 3200, I don't really want to upgrade many components, especially not the memory and GPU, but I am fed up with 13th gen Intel... even if I get it replaced for free again, I don't want to deal with that again in 2 years. I think I have 2 real options, keep everything and just drop in a 12700k(f)/12900k(f/s) or get a 5000 series Ryzen, 5800xt or 5950x look pretty nice. These upgrade are between 220€ and 400€, I think with that I should be good to go for 2 more years at least, I only play very few games and if I do I am fine with 1080 and even 60hz is fine for me, I mostly use VMs and have a few dev workloads that use memory like Chrome did back in the day.
>>107510849Demon souls seems to run at 30fps even at 40-50 if unlocked with an i7 3770. But a more complicated PS3 game will probably get shit results. But like I said, with that CPU you will not see the leap from a 9060xt compared to the 3060. In basically any modern game the cpu will hold back both gpu's. Though the 3060 may be better video editor card thanks to nvenc over the 9060. Though the 9060 may just be better at raw performance that it still beats the 3060 in video editing. My opinion get the 9060 if you plan to carry over that GPU when you eventually maybe someday upgrade from the 3rd gen intel system to something more modern.

>>107510588You know it isn't a bad strategy. As long as your customers understand what you are doing and the software feature gap between generations isn't too large, having high ends only once every two generations will fit in with the spending and upgrade habits of people better. Only very fat moneybags can afford to go from 3090-4090-5090-6090 every single generation. The "average" 3090 owner may be holding onto it until the 6090 in the worst case scenario, but those seeking to keep refresh rates high will have good reason to jump from 3090 or 3090 Ti to 5090 right now (about >100% improvement). Those on weaker classes of cards don't change cards every generation either, but there will be a larger pool of customers who will want to upgrade to the next entry or midrange on any given new generation. These entry and midrangers still would have more incentive to upgrade often because of Boots economic theory, so best to provide an option every generation. However, Radeon has a problem with the "software feature gap isn't too large" as exemplified by their current FSR4 & Redstone shenanigans so they can't leverage this strategy properly.

$240 for a shitbin 6000CL36 32GB DDR5 kit, yes/no?
>>107511108Get it if you really need the new PC.
>>107511108Normally, you want CL30. But, these are trying times.

>>107511140looks sus, but imma check it out.
>>107510944Sounds about right, I could even jump to the 12900ks as they are 10 bucks cheaper here and my PC can handle cooling with my Noctua D15.But if I drop 300€ on a new CPU, I could almost jump to a 5950x maybe 70€ more (including the MB) and then I have 16 real cores and no e ones and allegedly AMD CPU+GPU have some benefits in combo as well.
I can't find dual channel ddr5 ram in my market, can I cope with single?
Someone explain m.2 I've heard that you actually LOSE performance in your gpu if you use a slot. My friend said that some of them use the lanes that the GPU or cou usess which in turn gives worse performance so unless you buy a special mobo that isn't sharing lanes , it's better to stick with the sata ssds despite the slower speeds. How true is this? Because I have 4 ssds (sata) already and I'm planning on getting a 4tb m.2. But not sure if it will buck up my 5080.
>>107511108Got damnI'd rather shop around and find guaranteed Hynix a/M die bins for the same money. Stuff like 6800cl34, 7200cl34, 7600cl36-38, 8000cl38-40, 8400cl40 etc. And then run it at 6000cl28 with manual settings
>>107511221You could if it's at least 16gbThe advances in ddr5 mostly gets rid of single channel performance loss seen in older ddr
>>107511223On most boards there's one slot that shares lanes with the main pcie slot, so just avoid that one. Read your motherboard manual to find out which one it is.
>>107511236I think op should warn 16gb isn't enough for ai image stuff.
>>107511221You seem confusedYou can't find a two stick kit at all?If not do a little research and pair two sticks (same speed and subtimings as an existing kit)Technically you don't need two sticks as bad with DDR5, but it's still preferable.
>>107511223You can avoid using the M.2 slot that shares a PCIe lane with the primary x16 slot. But the performance loss isn't catastrophic.https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-5090-pci-express-scaling/https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-5060-ti-pci-express-x8-scaling/https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-pci-express-scaling/
>>107511320>you don't need two sticks as bad with DDR5DDR4*
>>107510881eh its not that bad. the first 40W gives as much performance as the next 80-160W so you really get the most benefit by going just slightly above 600W
>>107511275Actually I just looked at a few motherboards and it seems this isn't as common as I thought.https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-B850-EDGE-TI-WIFI/SpecificationMy motherboard. No lane sharing at all.https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-X870-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/SpecificationLane sharing between the THIRD pcie slot and the third m.2 slot, also lane sharing between the 2nd m.2 slot and the usb4 ports.https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-X870E-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/SpecificationNo lane sharing with pcie slots, but it does have lane sharing between the 2nd m.2 and the usb4 ports.https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X870E-AORUS-PRO-rev-11/sp#spThis is more like what I was expecting, has lane sharing between the main pcie slot and both the 2nd and 3rd m.2 slots.

Is it worth grabbing 2TB m.2 drives right now even if I don't need them? There are a couple mid-tier Gen4 drives going for $124 and a few high-tiers going for $140 in a local store, but not sure if either one is worth it if I don't explicitly need it. For reference, the $124 drives are currently going for $180 and the $140 drives are going for $220 on major retail sites. The $140 drives are actually the cheapest they've been all year for some reason.
Is the 9060 a considerable upgrade from the 6600? Because honestly, I'm not really seeing it right now…

>>107511399>Is it worth grabbing 2TB m.2 drives right now even if I don't need them?I bought the 2TB model of this for the same price 2 weeks ago. As you can see, the 2TB model has almost doubled in priceSome other anon said this to me ITT - Normies buy storage, it's like the one thing they are aware of and buy because they also put them into their laptops and playstations Buy whatever storage may you need now
Is this a good price for a RTX 5060? Or am I being baited here?
>>107511403it depends on the motherboards and the slots, it's not cut and dry it's all board and chipset dependent. But yes, using the wrong slot can take lanes away from your gpu slot. And Using all your sata ports can also switch off an m.2 slot depending on the board. Aren't motherboards fun, especially AMD ones.

>>107511503Yeah, but the problem is that I have to work with CUDA, so AMD is kinda useless for me, specially because I rarely play games on my computer. It's a shame that only Nvidia does that though, I wish other companies could also offer the same technology. But that's life.
