you get death grip from gaming with them for too long, the mouse is designed for ergonomic office work, not for continuous, intense inputs. You have to pinch the mouse constantly and use it in a way it was not designed for

ah yes and my custom HID script isn't working anymore, need to sort it out as well, so I can set analog stuff from terminal again. probably related to Vial security gotta see how I make it work with it.
basically I moved all Vial patches to QMK, to Keychron's QMK fork. and not all but most.

Scratchy Cherry is just having character, personality in the switch. Cherry's uniquely thick nylon tops make it possible to experience this, combined with swapped springs and polycarbonate films. This was not common before. Diverse plates like PP or POM were not so common before. The scene has changed, FOR THE BETTER.
Scratchy ass dry clacks is just character, it's timeless, like vests or checkered shirts. You use modern switches, and they're all well-lubed. Some of them are just lube central if you open up the housing and take a peek at what's inside. Now you put that next to a nice set of MX2A Blacks (Back in Black!), SS'd and filmed to PERFECTION.
And they sing. They make themselves heard. And felt. And you remember why Cherry has endured for decades, and it's not just market complacency or boomers or mass orders for office supplies or what the fuck ever. It's timeless. It has a unique base to it, and it's retooled now with the MX2As for the next generation of clickety clackety mechanical keyboard enthusiasts.
What I'm saying is, it's not a trend, it's the baseline baby. Go, Cherry!

FUUUUUUCK MEEEEEE

I'll tell you one downside of these fucking aluminum block keyboards, when they fall, they fall with heft.

Knocked a tiny dent into my monitor.....
I guess the silver lining is that it happened at the very bottom part of the screen, and it's only surface damage, easy to ignore.

Remember folks, play with your keyboards at least a full keyboard's distance away from any fragile screen surface.
The funny thing is I had the foresight to move away my phone because I though "if this fell on my phone, it's shatter my screen" and then I move my phone away, and immediately knock a dent into my monitor.

I was doing something with the rubber feet. I want it to slide around more, the weight alone is enough to keep it from moving so the rubber feet just made it annoying to move around so I taped over them.
I hesitated on flipping the keyboard over since it's still on and I didn't want any of the keys being pressed, so I held it vertically on it's side. and then the rest is history.

Welp, I won't make that mistake again.

Let me help you out. How are you a gunky man? What's limiting you from setting your desk up like that?
>>
>>107536638
I can set it up, the desk mat just gets dirty really fast, and I'll be too lazy to clean it.
It just looks nasty.
>>
Are Hall Magnet switches better with FPS than standard mechanical switches?
>>
>>107536753
no, but they're smooth as fuck though
>>
I'm looking to buy my first new set of keycaps. Is there anything special I should look for when buying them? Like, must they say something like, double shot or dye sublimated or they're not worth it at all?
>>
>>107536753
The switches themselves? No.

The keyboards that utilize them? Yes. HE keyboards allow for extremely low latency keyboards that aren't effected by debounce or upstroke latency.
>>
>>107537155
nah, it’s all preference

gmk has highest quality legends but they’re overpriced. double shot pbt will last the longest but you do have to be weary because a lot of people will advertise pbt but it will actually be a pbt/abs blend. abs has more vibrant colors but eventually shines.

maybe try a different profile than cherry. i likd mt3
>>
>>107537155
Buy GMK or Keykobo for an assured good time. It's what I did and it was the best decision ever. Shitty cheap caps just feel bad and look bad. If you don't have a custom keyboard like the meme ones ITT, then just get whatever HyperX keycaps from Amazon.
>>
>>107536680
That's normal. Those carefully curated photos you see are just staged crap. Everyone else has mats and surfaces that gets diminished over time, either by regular ol' wear and tear or stains from random spills, dark spots from where your hands rest on your mat/surfaces etc.
For everything else, just wash your hands every hour lol

>keycaps breaking in 1-2 years
I have never heard of this. Are you using your keyboard in some fucked up way?
>>
>>107536242
>less-used
>semicolon
You have to be both illiterate and a non-programmer to be able to say this. And it's literally the home row key for the right pinky. FFS anon
>>
>>107539537
I just use my forefinger when typing with my right hand. My pinky never works unless it's to pound the backspace into submission or to press enter. I can easily go without any of these funny non-alphabetical keys on my keyboard. And yeah, I'm not a code monkey. Just code bro doesn't mean anything anymore.
>>
>>107537155
Yes.

Dye sub is great but only when the legends are darker than the keycap. When the legends are lighter, that means they are using a light keycap and applying dye all over except where the legend is. This tends to look uneven and it can warp keycaps. Maybe it can be done well, I don't know, but I would avoid.

Light-on-dark should pretty much always be double-shot. With dark-on-light there are advantages to each. Other methods are not worth considering.
>>
>>107539537
Yes.
Notice that in this entire thread, with it's 180 posts.
You can only find ONE singular instance of it being used.
And that's literally my post.
>>
>>107539515
Maybe I actually am using the spacebar wrong, pushing on its leftmost edge, since area below C key happens to be a natural thumb position for wasd games, but that does not excuse all other keycap stems being very thin and rapidly getting loose. It got so bad that keycaps started popping out if I lift fingers too fast from bottomed out position.

What switches are you using?
>>
>>107539602
There were multiple uses last thread, and one of them was me.
>>
>>107536066
You just practice for a long time with high accuracy. But your speed isn't bad, the test settings make a huge difference. There are some who could get 130 on your settings, but often when people say they type at high speeds they mean 60s English200 or even just 10 words.

Cherry, silent black.
The current chinkshit looks like trash but fits very solidly, does not flex and is harder to pull out than original ADA caps were even new.
>>
>>107539855
If they don't fit Cherry, that's certainly a problem. They need to tighten those up. But you can deal with problems like that by e.g. putting a small piece of plastic wrap between the stem and the keycap.
>>
>bought dozens of switches (120 pieces/individually unique switch)
>end up liking HMX clackers and MX Blacks only
>Gateron, Haimu, BSUN and the rest will lie unused forever now
I can't have that. I won't have that.
It's time to buy a dozen new premium keyboards (no fucking foam) and give my switches new homes to live in.
Goodbye, bank balance.

I think the thin cross-shaped stems are part of the problem, compared to solid circular on my other sets.

Hmm yeah that does look pretty flimsy

See? Buy good sets, don't play the keycap roulette. You will never disappoint yourself again.
Nice B5 on the corner.

Back to "Where can I find a black PBT 4.5U spacebar that won't shine or bend in a month?"
Okay, scratch that.
Where can I find any good black 4.5U spacebar (or set with one)? Stabilizers position matches JIS standard.

lmfao, what acoustics? Every new board sounds the exact same. All the same, muted shit.

I do a lot of CAD work and the numpad is pretty much a necessity for that. I'm trying out the compromise of a 96% and I like the layout and size but the keyboard I got (some Corsair bullshit because it's what I could get locally and be able to return easily) has horrible chatter so I'm gonna have to figure out what to do, torn between returning it and ordering a Keychron or something or just replacing the switches since it's hot swappable.
