I have done something similar back in the day, and even went so far as to grayscale my entire system, including images found online using imagemagick.
I am old and lazy and Classic theme is no more. If I ever get a hair up my butt and reinstall Windows 7, then I will do it again.

this is beyond my ricing skills, but i want to ask whether you two use a system tray, and if you think one should on a tiler. i use dwm and you basically have to decide between the alpha patch and systray because even if you do get it working, it won't look good, as the tray won't share the transparency. problem is the applets are more intuitive than any terminal based tool i could have on a scratchpad.

tranny chan here
I don’t use a systray, but I know many tiling wms and bars support them. Personally, I don’t find it necessary. I never really used the system tray before I removed it, and I don’t see a reason to bring it back. It helps that it’s been years since I even used one. So I guess it just depends on whether you find it useful. Plus it is a bit of an eyesore.

nwm, i actually found a dwm repo that had a 6.6 systray + alpha patch ready. still had to manually fix it for some reason, but curiously not the function that defines how the bar is drawn with the system tray, which had been giving me so many problems. it now works and the tray is also transparent behind it, something i3 hasn't figured out. i don't have to chose anymore.

I switched from xfce4-panel to mate-panel and the Aurora engine through qt5gtk2. Made my own Emerald theme. I also discovered the CrosCore fonts which are compatible with MS fonts and look good on workstations.
I wish there was a decent standalone panel with appmenu support because for these ones I have to do hacks with the environment to make it work properly.
If you use AppMenus I reccomend mate-hud, it provides all the menu items in rofi when you tap the ALT key.

I don’t care enough about cam girls on TikTok (don’t even browse TikTok) let alone cam girls in general, I only reverse image search if I am interested in the media (even then it’s not the most reliable), if that is indeed not a minor then my apologies for the remarks, anonymous image boards are truly interesting places where one person can seem like everyone and everyone can seem like one person, shit happens I guess.
It’s been hard for me to tell a difference between younger and older people in general, not just women, actually. I saw teenagers manage to look like they are in their twenties these days.

actually no, just remembered there is one windows setup of mine that is preeetty notable for being wack
for example, there is a fortnite icon, a game i never play but installed cause i had friends that did play fortnite come over, pc remote receiver is a similar story, me and my friends were trying to use our phones as gamepads, safe to say that i haven't been with them for a while. ive also had a tv program (i barely even used it), for some reason i felt like downgrading my windows media player, ive had razer programs, the worst war crime of mine is allowing myself to use google chrome. rest of the setup is all around fuckass, thank goodness i don't have it anymore, kind of reminds me of my 2019 setup

>>
>>107540385
i miss windows media player too, ive been actually thinking about making an xmms2 frontend that supports windows media player skins recently
basically, windows media player skins are wmz files which are just zip files with a different file extension, inside of it there is a wms file which is an xml with a different file extension, javascript (if any) and images (png, bmp or gif) that compose the skin itself
>>
>>107540583
That would be neat. I've never messed with xmms2. What would make you choose it?
>>
>>107540652
xmms2 these days is a cli blank slate
https://github.com/xmms2/wiki/wiki/Screenshots

another variant i considered is using mpv as a backend, it would be more accurate for me to use mpv as a backend given that wmp is generally a media player, not just a music player
it's still a drawing board and im not sure if i will even bother starting it but the theory's all there, it's very much possible but no one has bothered throughout the entire time so might as well consider the thought of it being me

BUT I also often do not respond to ones that I like, either, so no response does not mean that I do not MELIKES. Sometimes I just do not know any WORDS @ all 2 say about a given DESKTOP that MELIKES.

I also remembered something that does JUSTIFY the paranoia of SAMEFAGGING that @ least one of (You) seems to have, and that was the recent poasting and deleting by elliot of their pic with lots of (You)s all over it showing they were all him.

I've been @ this web site for 17 years and seen so much of so much of so much of such things, it's just KEKZ to me, but I will NEVER shit on anyone's DESKTOPS and will only shit on (You) when being attacked.

Asking for help in a forum isn't really that different from asking the same fucking thing to an LLM. In fact, the LLM could even give you better answers if you properly explain the problem.
I know you're trying to look badass for not using AI, but the fact is that AI already can do better than most mid-level developers, and since you said you know very little of C, maybe it would be a better idea to ask the LLM to do it for you.

icewm is easily customizable has a panel and stuff but its not a whole "from scratch" solution like fvwm (i took a look at fvwm configs once, barely understood it but was like years ago) and that's why i use it

>>107541695
Man, that is FASCINATING. I would put the potential paths being far beyond MILLIONS, closer to ∞ (at least effectively and relatively). To me it's almost like semiconductors within semiconductors within semiconductors within cities which are in many ways like macro level semiconductors. Every single tiny "action" that takes place is an instance of energy in motion, and each is part of countless energetic flows, all individual, and in sum.

Any DAMAGE, like that of floods, is very interesting to consider in these kinds of contexts. For example, you have lots of ACTIONS going on day after day, most of them probably repetitive to a substantial degree, and then suddenly FLOOD, DISRUPTION, and countless ACTIONS are no longer able to FUNCTION as they had for so previously long. Then massive floods of NEW actions spring into effect attempting to repair that damage and restore the original activities, much like antibodies and such attempting to repair an infection or wound.

This is an incredibly FASCINATING thing which you've written.

You are one of the few people who notice.
Zoom in on a fractal, and you'll continue to see similar patterns no matter how much you zoom. Everything in our universe behaves like a fractal. >the sound seems to continuously get higher but never really does
as you can hear exactly what it's doing if you pay attention to each of the two components. It offers a very unique audio/psyche ride that puts the mind into very precisely particular modes of awareness that might prove to be very useful in some profoundly seemingly ABSTRACT contexts.

VERY much appreciated.
>>
>>107548691
Ah yes! There is a man that I cannot recall the name of who did a lot of "computer sound art" type stuff like such decades ago that I had I think two albums of.

VERY interdasting, and I slowed it to various speeds to make out the details of what all is "going on". It's breddy rich with things, and all surrounding the foundational root of BIRD.

ME
LIKES
& am not generally "into" EDM or "rave" type/derived musics ("house", etc., but I am very unfamiliar with all of the sub-genres that have emerged over the last many years. I no longer listen to musics for the most part and am trying to UNHEAR most of what I have over the first 2-3 decades of me life).

This goes some very interesting places and I highly recommend a listen through at slow speeds.

>>107548839
I bookmarked that channel, in fact, as it seems to have other interesting things.

I don't mind classic music structure, but lyrics in English make my skin crawl. I know the power music has on memory and I go out of my way to prevent myself from listening to other people's thoughts when I hear it.
>>
>>107549041
Ye, and not just memory, but the shaping of the psyche and the paradigms of both personal and mass behaviors. In fact, I've written about exactly that in a published book, and am writing about it presently to much greater depth.

One's mind/psyche is about as precious treasure as it gets and it should be guarded and garden tended accordingly.

There is a pattern in this darkness. An aberration. I hear voices..
>>107549041
This is good. Many musics are just sad attempts at spreading trans ideology. You can literally hear them whispering “cut it off” like it’s so obvious that i can only assume others hear it but accept it

i'd use windows 7 if it didn't outright refuse to installl on my end, my hardware is filtered by being too new for the best of best

What is with all the gen z’ers in this thread trying to revive the OS that was popular when they were being potty trained?

it's the last "good" windows system, i admit this was one of my more experimental ideas before i settled on using linux like a normal person, i miss a lot of things 7 had personally, the media player, the ricing sphere, all that shizz, now here's me hoping that they get those things over to linux with aerothemeplasma but that's wishful thinking, isn't it?

Wrong. Windows 8 was peak in terms of design. You have the wrong opinions. You will always be wrong. How tragic.

my desktop technically runs 7 but the gpu drivers (amd) suck so i gave up

for me its a mix of nostalgia and the x230 just being old, im dualbooting w7 with linux and w10 would just slow things down

>>107550316
you are dumb, i have used it and let me tell you the only use for its design is in a touchscreen (and even then it's counter intuitive at least when it comes to windows 8). generally speaking windows 8 (and by extension 8.1) is the equivalent of pissing away all good that was left, it is the start of the end of windows, in fact, it introduced the framework of what will eventually become everything wrong with windows, notably the inferior platform we typically call uwp, the only windows 8 i could possibly respect is probably its phone version, i have used windows 10 mobile and it was actually fucking good there and as far as i know phone versions of 7 to 10 don't really differ much from each other

personally speaking, the last good WITHOUT quote marks windows was xp, no you will not change my mind, fuck you
picrel is my attempt at "reviving" it on 10, it was ass, i wish that god damn xfce project was finished

Gen z attitude is pathetic. To shit on the most superior version of windows while praising one that they never actually used is bizarre. You will outgrow this behavior. Hopefully. Adulthood is coming for you. Then you will realize the error of your ways.

>>107550417
bitch please, i grew up with both xp (more specifically the warez isos called chip and zver) and 7 (vista completely skipped, i know no one that used it either), you can't talk shit on me, you do realize that most of the gen z is adult too by this point, right?

>>107550424
there aren't much differences between 2000 and xp as far as i can tell, xp is just 2000 with more features, they're both nt 5.x, the only difference is that one has a fancier ui (dear lord i do not like classic and no i don't like the fisher price aspect of it either, i grew up ricing that shit too) and a better ux (the xp-7 start menu is a god send).

Kingbastard? I get most (85%) of my music from Newgrounds Audio portal. It is mostly young people who have no pre-conceived notions about music/theories about what makes good music; they usually come up with incredibly unique sounds.

>>107551287
No, this was some computer guy from I think the 60s. I believe it was on Smithsonian Folkways, which I once had countless albums from (like I said, I /generally/ stopped listening to music long ago, but do so now for research. Otherwise, very, very rarely).

Also, this strikes me as a great Way. As I mentioned, I used to listen to a lot of Smithsonian Folkways, and that included things like primitive musics which similarly escapes the usual standard paradigms, and deals more with "pure sound". One of my absolute long time favorites is the album Music for the Gods:

https://folkways.si.edu/music-for-the-gods-the-fahnestock-south-sea-expedition-indonesia/world/album/smithsonian

I bought it as a new release on CD from a physic "record store" back then.

I do enjoy Deep Forest Boheme, Hungarian Folk, and other international music with languages I know nothing about. Your link seems very familiar, but I don't go out of my way to find new music in that spirit. I am more a house BPM junkie than anything.

A little discordant, but definitely early electronic. Glad you found them.

About 3 years ago, a /g/entooman felt froggy & brave and shared their music. Listening to all our links has caused Youtube to bubble his channel back into my recommends, even though I downloaded them years ago and daily listen to three of them ( Space Howl, The Haunting, and Invasion). Thought I would share:

Keep in mind those last two links are lists. The Music for the Gods has some very interesting variety, and the Dartmouth one was a projected headed by one man, but the tracks are done by different individuals with a variety of visions/approaches.

INVASION is INTERDASTING thus far!
