>$450 for 48 gigs of ddr5 6400 mhz cl36

I mostly play at high resolution so this feels like a steal to me, FPS difference is too small to care. Would I notice less micro stutters if I used cl30?
>>
Would anons mind pitching in their thoughts about what to do about an unusual GPU situation? Quick rundown:
>Reference 7900XT has a faulty vapor chamber/heatsink, can't be resolved by washer modding or normal maintenance/repaste
Unlike reports that only XTX reference cards were affected.
>Absurd 110C+ hotspots, thermal throttling, the works
>Crippled unless potentially if I buy something like an aftermarket vapor chamber/cooler, which I'm seeing priced at like $120
I don't think it's worth decking out a non-XTX, older model card. Contemplating selling it online with a disclosure that it needs a VC change to avoid thermal throttling. Though, I don't know how much I could get for it. Then the issue is:
>9070XT or RTX 5080 for 2160p?
Clearly, the 5080 is going to outperform the 9070XT and probably last me longer, but it's also several hundreds more (at least $300). Cheapest I found is $1k cards at Microcenter. This shit makes me want to kill myself.
>>
>>107668341
I’m not worried about GPU price increases. GPUs are already not selling, if AMD and Nvidia increase prices by 20+% then supply will continue to accumulate. By the time next-gen GPUs like RDNA5 or Nvidia’s Rubin launch the memory hysteria will have alleviated. Given how the current gen has been rather stagnant in performance gains over RDNA3 and RTX4000, I don’t think I’m losing out on much by skipping this gen if I’m not shelling out $3k for a 5090
>>
>>107668460

Does AM4 have any issues with 4x memory sticks? I have 2x8gb of RAM and because i'm a cheapskate I want to buy another 2x8 instead of buying fresh 2x16. I will buy the exact same model.
>>
>>107667653
maybe this isnt the right thread, but can someone explain how people use 4k+ res displays?
in my mind, you have to up the scaling to 125-150%, which gives you an effective resolution of QHD (150%), but you still have to render games or videos at full res, meaning you need a heftier graphics card.

i just dont get it.
>>
>>107668608
Generally, AM4 works fine with 4 sticks. I did a build for someone and they changed their mind and wanted more ram. I went from 2x8 to 4x8. Expo worked fine and it was stable at 3200.
>>
The last time I built a PC was like five ish years ago and I've been thinking about doing a new full build recently. Since then I've gotten really into Blender/3D graphics in general as a hobby and (very small) side hustle.
I know that Blender generally plays well with Nvidia GPUs but other than that I don't really know what I should be looking for when it comes to hardware. Can anyone point me in the right direction of what to look for in a rig for 3D motion graphics/general creative work type stuff? Not really interested in video game performance.
I'll probably sell my current complete setup (2070, Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb ram) and would like to shoot for the $1200 - $1500 range on a whole new build. Not asking for anybody to put a full list together (but if you want to or have something that fits what I'm looking for please feel free to share), just want to know what to look for in a GPU/CPU mostly. I'm in America. Thank you :)
>>
>>107668608
>Does AM4 have any issues with 4x memory sticks?
Depends on the motherboard manufacturer. I recall that a lot of MSI boards couldn't go above 3600mt/s if you were using 4 sticks but I don't think that issue applied to ASUS or Gigabyte boards. That said, I'm running 4 sticks of 3200CL14 with 0 issues, so as long as you're not pushing for speed you should be fine.
>>
>>107668608
I can't boot with 4 sticks at the advertised speed of 3200mhz cl14 but 2 sticks can. Otherwise I need to tune it down to 2800 to boot and it's fully stable.
>>

Only Zen 1 and some particularly bad 1st gen motherboards did.

It's definitely a bubble, but it's almost certainly not going to pop and things go back to normal like nothing happened.
AI will grow, it'll wane and centralise around one or two companies or technologies that are actually useful. The hardware various companies purchased will be repurposed to less profitable industries, but the demand will still exist for high-end computing hardware, it'll just be a bit less intense than it is now.

Well, at least for me, 14600K, 9060 XT, and a basic 360mm AIO, CPU idles around 25c and neither the CPU or GPU hit higher than mid-60s on benchmarks.
