It's like, the Youtube people are like "DOOM DOOM DOOM" and then everyone spends their life savings on already obsolete silicon, stockpiling it where the prices reflect that the sky is falling and creating a price spike that feeds itself via artificial scarcity.
You had the OpenAI guy basically admit that they bought all the hardware they could get their hands on, and that it's beyond the ability for civilization's power infrastructure to even accommodate them. Yet there's still the perception that this is going one way. They are sitting on aging hardware they can't use with no idea how to make money using their product. It's ever investment scam of the last 30 years.

I have a 77" G5. The G5 comes with a flat mount. It's really nice if you don't intend to angle the Tv down which helps with refection. These bastards are heavy and would not even recommend you try to put one on a stand solo, let alone a wall mount. Either TV is top notch.

I checked LGs site and they now updated so I can get free shipping again
with codes and discounts that brings a G5 55" w/ stand to 1468€, the stand alone is 140€ value - other retailers 1666€ with stand or no stand model, S95F 55" same price
I could borderline wing a 55" as a desk monitor although I need more space and it's fucking huge, 77" is full blown floor only or a roll mount

other current prices S95F 77" 2775€ - G5 77" with codes 2447€ (No stand btw)

benefits of 55" is better ppi

>>107741976
>I have a 77" G5. The G5 comes with a flat mount.
One of the most J'ish practices LG has ever done I don't intend to wall mount which means I literally have to buy a stand, LGs 77/83 stand for these models suck ass (angles upwards alot), might aswell buy a floor stand at that point for slightly more, wonder how the fuck you solo mount it though, seems like a pain in the ass, which leads me to might aswell just 55" it up

did you see both in store to compare? S95F G5 what do you think? I don't know still, too bad they are not side by side there

>These bastards are heavy and would not even recommend you try to put one on a stand solo
I mounted a 55" just fine before but I wonder how much pain in the ass a 77" is and how the fuck do you mount that on a stand

>Either TV is top notch.
Samsung has had history of oneconnectbox shenaningas and bad qc, more failure points, and the s95f and s90f has some color bug currently also and whatever else, just slightly nervous, I can't do a screen that black screen flickers, just insanely bad, which might lead me to LG being the more reliable TV/Display/whatever

>>107741991
you can easily fit a stand on a 77" tv with the use of the box but if you have to hang it up on a mount it would be a nightmare
again LG not including a fucking stand is crazy work

they stack another layer to work in tandem to produce better brightness and reduce burn in. but the drawback is they use more power and may have gray uniformity issues.

It's LG response to Samsung's QD-OLED. It's the next gen OLED only in the G5 for now that has an extra layer for 30 percent more brightness and better colors.

they add more layers for the light to shine through pretty much

Yea, but they're using the tech to make brighter panels, not identical brightness panels.

How can I stop thinking about my build dying and having to upgrade?
I bought a 5900x for cheap in very early 2024, it was a panic buy, so I didn't upgrade to AM5. Instead I also had to grab a motherboard because it turns out both my CPU and my motherboard somehow just died. I came to this conclusion by testing out my older CPU (3600) on a different build and the 5900X on my older motherboard.
Anyways, because of that sudden death I couldn't figure out (weirdly enough the RAM was fine), I'm paranoid. I know things degrade. But I'd like them not to degrade too quickly. It's been only a year and my side panel thingy I bought for my case (Lancool 216) already died. Sure it's 15 bucks, I can buy another one. But for fucks sake it just stops working like this. I just plug things in there over USB 2 (because my motherboard is a shit that only takes 2 USB 3 ports and one of them is the newer one, so I can't have 4 frontal USB 3 ports, only 2 and a USB-C) and now only one of those USBs on the extra panel work.
Now an upgrade seems pretty impossible and I've been using this RAM for quite a while. DDR 3600, CL16 ballistix 4x8. That's right 4 sticks, they've been running without issues for years now. The motherboard is ok I guess (MSI MPG Gaming Plus B550). And the CPU is the one I mentioned before. But I can't stop thinking this shit is going to suddenly die at some point. I made sure not to set everything by default, no PBO. I use XMP, that's it. Since I'm going to stick with this build for longer, should I bother grabbing a really good AM4 motherboard at this point?

nothing to do with the subpixels LG gonna release a monitor with true RGB stripe subpixels this year, monitors and tvs are RGWB (or some variation of it)
Samsung releasing new monitors that have almost rgb stripe subpixels this year but other than that those diamond shaped subpixels
but you can almost fix it by just brute forcing ppi though buy 4k 27"
>>
>>107742079
They are so close it doesn't matter really. I chose G5 because it has a better pixel layout for text and the HDR is supposed to be a bit brighter. The G5 has certified G-sync, but I think they just pay for the cert and both will do G-sync fine.

I have never seen any close up comparisons in windows for example, not exactly many people who use 55" as a desktop monitor, but big if true, did you compare in store before?
and if you are using a 77" at a distance that would be kinda insane talking text clarity kek

you probably looked at (glossy) qdoled there up close, might even be sub 4k ppi too?
this effect destroyed my eyes on a glossy qdoled before, matte reduced it but still visible at arm distance with 32" 4k
woleds won't have this effect

The Samsung has a weird pixel structure that can leave green edges on text due to the diamond shaped pixel array. Clear text cant totally fix it. Most TV reviews are for movies and don't take into account using a TV for a PC.

>>107742097
For that price get a better WD BLACK for less money, or a Samsung if you're not on Linux.

what would you pick if they cost the same (pro tip they literally cost the same)
realistically speaking they should cost 1/4th of the tv
if a tv is 1500 bux at 55 the 27 equivalent should be 1500/4=375 bux
but it's not, the only benefit monitors have is the hz
soon enough tvs will hit 240hz too

after the tvs life span as a monitor is done, or you replace it, you can retool the tv whever you want in another room, or sell it, it has apps and speakers and whatever else shit you want too

you literally can't lose

For me it has to have an IO shield, at least 2.5Gbps ethernet, BIOS flash button, and better if it has "EZ" PCIE eject features and such. Then all else equal I'd take MSI over the other brands. If it has a debug 7-segment then that's huge but don't expect it in any affordable boards. Avoid Asrock for Zen 5.

seems like all of this is an issue on linux because theoretically it shouldnt be dropping that badly in linux despite its SLC cache firmware issue possibly

Ugraded a PC I built for a friend from my old MSI GTX 1080 to a 5060 ti 16gb. They tried an RC 9070 XT 16gb but apparently, AMD is broken on some old game he plays. Maybe a Warhammer variant? Dunno... Regardless, that card went into my 14600K build and I have my 1080 back.

Now to reassemble my Ship of Theseus 8700K system. Just need a new case, and an air cooler. I'll flip it for a few dollars.

>workstation
workstations are often contracted out and built with components that are compact and never meant to be reopen. They are exclusively build to be used sealed, until EOL and replaced with a new box. They do come with a high amount of VRAM/RAM, but it won't matter because your IT department likely bottlenecked everything with inefficient tools nobody uses.

When higher end workstations are purchased, they still use special workstation components and aren't meant to be opened, but look identical to gaming PCs.

Finished reading that link. There is more than one discussion going on, for the relevant posts:
>somebody notes how the review shows the drive performing well in synthetic benchmarks but not in real world usage
>somebody suggests it might be outdated firmware, it's later discarded
>someone ponders why it might be, and refers to a Tomhardware's review showing how it drops in performance well below others like the SN8100 on "non-SLC-buffered writes"
>someone else says Samsung drives perform like this in Linux for a couple generations now and it's not just the reviewer but his own experience and others'
>someone replies there's nothing special about Linux from the drive's perspective and remarks Samsung's drives "native TLC write performance is so much worse, you're more likely to feel the impact than with some other flagship drives" after exhausting the SLC buffer
>he later suggest the drives should be tested empty because of this and other reasons and asks the reviewer if he's using fstrim after every iteration for the intended results
>reviewer replies he indeed did it that way
>they are left puzzled and wondering if it's thermal throttling or something else
So nothing. Also not worth summarizing this shit for this thread, you would call it AI or whatever anyway, but it's already done.

Nah, unless you're shooting for over 100 FPS, the 5070Ti/9070XT can easily go over 60 FPS at native 4k max (no upscaling or fake frames). You go 4090 or 5090 if you want 120+ stable for your 120Hz+ display.

The 5080 is only 15% faster than the 5070Ti AT 4K. I know because I researched this.
