Recently upgrades from 5800x3d to 9800x3d but now im having fomo bc gpu prices are going up and people are saying rtx 5090s will cost 5k end of year?
Im currently still running an rtx 3090 and im mainly playing Simulators in VR so 24GB VRAM is a must.
Really dont know what i should do here. My options seem to be to buy a RTX5090 for 2750€ or a used RTX 4090 for around 2000€ or wait for the RTX 6000 Series but As things are looking to me rn it seems like nvidia wants to price gpus with high VRAM out of consumer hands. What do you guys think? Should i wait or just bite the bullet and sell the rtx 5090 when the 6000 Series drops

5090 definitely does open up things that are impossible on any other gpu besides maybe a 4090
5080 is the meme card, it's just a 70ti with +5-15% bump. Which is kind of the same thing with 70 to 70ti but at least then you get more memory for the edge cases

The 5080 has full 2/2 nvenc encode/decode engines whereas I think the 5070 ti is cucked with 2/1 probably the biggest difference. Does it matter? Probably not to 98% of users.

I wanted to build out a 1080p couch gaming rig but prices are absolutely fucked in Europe (and I guess everywhere). Cheap is that goal and I guess it's looking like I could build an entirely 2nd hand AM4 build with ~350-450€. However, there's a Chinese minipc that's got a Ryzen 6800U paired with 32GB soldered LPDDR5 for 280€ that could be used with an Oculink connected GPU which seems like a more future proof but still relatively inexpensive choice. Have I gone completely fucking insane? 16GB of DDR5 is easily 300-500€ here and I don't see it changing soon. Also, I have 0 interest in overclocking or RGB whatever so that's a non-issue for me.

Just run the windows installation ISO from inside windows and target the SATA SSD as your new OS drive.

You'll probably need to change the boot order in your BIOS so it boots to your SSD instead of the HDD, but once you do that it should be good to go. You'll then be able to move drag and drop anything you want to keep from your old OS HDD to your now OS SSD, then you can format the old HDD and use it as bulk storage.

>>
>>107744917
Depends really. My monitor is a only 75 Hz 3440x1440 and I use a 5800x with a 4080 Super. Even with that power, you still need frame generation and DLSS scaling to run path tracing. Any CPU bottlenecking is minor for what I play. Gay-tracing™ does add CPU overhead but again, the GPU will also be taxed way more. I wouldn't put anything more than a RTX 5080 into an AM4 system unless it was a 5800x3d or even a 5700x3d chip.

If you're just doing 500 fps Fortnite gaming, then I would be concerned out CPU bottlenecks.

Looking at a video comparing VRAM temps now, and it seems that the MSI Tomahawk Max board keeps good temps, though there are Asus boards, an Asrock board and a GB board that are marginally better. Make sure all the bracket and stand-offs are absolutely the correct ones for your CPU. Make sure it's torqued down properly and evenly. Test fit the radiator and fan before you do anything to ensure it will physically fit the case. Plan all the wiring for the fans, pump, module, etc.

Thinking about doing a full upgrade, since im still on am4 and im cpu bottlenecked, not gonna ditch the parts, instead im going to take my gpu out and build an entire second pc
currently looking at new cpus, any reason to take the 14600 over amd stuff?
My gpu is a 4080, if that makes any difference

I was very surprised NVIDIA back ported DLSS4. Say what you want, but that was a stand up move. I still don't know why they did it.

Probably because modders were able to implement DLSS4 Super Resolution support themselves if NVIDIA didn't officially do it.

Upgraded from a 6900XT (which had replaced my little brother's 2080Ti) so it was pretty decent.

>install the connector before installing the GPU on the motherboard
That's essentially what I did because I was so paranoid about this connector. Figured it was better anyways because it was so small and I have more room to wiggle it. Have to check the PSU side too though thanks.
Pic rel is also how it's installed routed now.
I also limited power by 80% because I didn't want to bother with undervolting.

>Everyone seriously needs to buy their planned builds right the fuck now, instead of waiting even a week longer, or you'll be paying more and more goy tax by the day.
This, unfortunately.
I still have not bought storage and had my eye on this rather expensive SSD since it had not been hiked (almost) unlike the others, while the rest kept creeping up and are almost the same price as it now, but I was still holding. Today they finally hiked it too. I would be better off if I had bought in November, or even early December, and now literally yesterday.

So why doesn't AMD give a shit about optiscaler. Seems kind of shit.
>>
>>107746071
Have fun anon, and make sure to undervolt it to reduce power draw by 100w

AMD released all the tools game devs need to add official FSR4 support in their games.
Not many game devs want to spend the resources to add FSR4 support on their end.
But they'll be included in new titles.

These guys have data on how many of their paying customers use Radeon cards and decide whether it's worth their time to add new Radeon features.

How much of an overclock could one get on a 12700kf? I don't have a Z-series motherboard to overclock this thing, but Google says I could only expect a 1-3 fps increase, which is basically nothing.

Same reason they still support turing. nvidia is the one leading and innovating new tech, but this tech needs to be backward compatible so devs and the industry can implement while still being able to hit most of the pc marketshare.

AMD on the other hand does not gain anything from pushing PC gaming forward instead it does it best to hold it back because the R&D radeon deparrtment ts paid by Sony so the ps5 pro and ps5 need to still be relevant

This is what happens when you fall for RDNA3 cards: you constantly cope with your poor purchasing decision.

You're talking to someone who could've purchased any high-end 7900 XTX or 9070 XT for the value of my current video card.
That is your place. Even AMD Unboxed Steve advised people to pay $200 more for the RTX 4080 in his 7900 XTX launch review.
