So will the RTX 50 Supers be a thing or is it joever for waitfags? I'm fine either way, I got plenty of mileage out of my 5070 already that I'd be fine with a better variant coming out so waitbwos can play stuff too now.
>>
>>107767781

They're not coming out. VRAM is for AI centers, not for you fucking worthless trash poorfag soon-to-rent-from-cloud gaming peasants. Nvidia made this crystal clear.

With Nvidia refusing to supply VRAM to board partners, I don't expect them to release anything with more VRAM anytime soon. Enjoy your 5070.

>>107767810
Linux is a good enough reason to get 9070xt.

Is it worth upgrading from a 4090 to a 5090?

I wanted to grab a Astral ROG LC OC 5090 before its too late....

Waitbros, it was a little painful but we won.
>>
>>107767850
Only if you have a use case. If this is for a production workstation where time is money, do it. If you just want to masturbate to owning a 5090 while you play web games that would run on an igpu, then no.
>>
>>107767850
I'm a poorfag myself but I like watching benchmarks and stuff like that
What about you wait for the 6090 so you can play games at 4k full ray tracing and path tracing at stable 60fps without dlss
Because the 5090 can't do that in the most recent tittles

VR scales with whatever you can throw at it, there's sims and modded games that can use absurd amounts of memory, and heavy multitasking can fill up the VRAM before you open a game.

Hai friends
I’m thinking it’s finally time for me to build a PC
I’m pretty new to this, so I’d really appreciate any suggestions on my build
I’ve already picked out a few parts based on aesthetics, but I’m open to feedback
Especially if you can explain why you’d swap something
My theme is mostly white with accents of pink, purple, or blue (Inspo would be those Y70 or Lian Li O11 VISION COMPACT builds on TikTok)
Mainly play League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, and Overwatch and I’d like to run them at max settings in 4K
I’m aiming for a budget of 2000 to 3000 dollars
Any advice would be awesome! :o

Real talk moment: Im presently running a 4070. But Frontiers of Pandora has shown me that my 12 GB VRAM, tied with my 7 7700x, have become my choke(s)....

But FoP is the first game, even with mostly medium/low n some off settings AND 'balanced' use of DLSS....that im still nearly maxing VRAM, which has led to a few stalls on the program that sometimes reached the windows level n cause a softlock.

So as someone who's *not* **at all** well versed or up to date in AMD cards....*realistically*....if I want 'AMD gpu with more VRAM'....what model(s) am I looking at, and what minimum price range?

Because obviously, Nvidia is hiked n scalped to all hell so while I *highly doubt* i can find a half reasonably priced Nvidia one....ive always been far more skittish of AMDs long running history (both publicly and personally) with *stability issues* and performance quality....
Like....what price ranges should I expect?
What realistic performance/function losses or gains should I expect with the theoretical move from a 4070 to an AMD GPU?

Any recommendations on getting a good surge protector? I need a power strip and I thought I might as well get one with surge protection because we've had voltage fluctuations before.
>>
>>107768310
Noted. Any significant/noted drawbacks/benefits i can expect if I do make the hop?

I assume any other AMDs past that are 'not reasonably priced relative to performance' or lack a major factor vis-a-vis cooling or good memory or some such? $700 is definitely a lot more reasonable for a GPU than fuckin $1200 or $3600 or 5 grand....

>>
>>107768326
All of them are shit. You can get an expensive
UPS that has a reverse AC supply though.
>>
>>107768330
The two drawbacks are significantly higher power usage (320-360W) and that fsr4 support is still quite lacking in modern games, requiring you to use optiscaler to swap DLLs with dlss2/3 for fsr4 in most older games.
>>
i hope 50 series supers never come out
>>
>>107768330
>>107768351
Yeah, DLSS is no joke.
>>
Should i get a 5090 or wait for CES?
>>
>>107768320
Thats definitely appetizing...me thinks I may just hop to an AMD come February/March, take advantage of feb tech sales if I can...either grab a new/next gen AMD gpu if one drops at really good value/performance or if im lucky, grab the 9070xt for a good feb sale....maybe....

Probably keep the 4070 in my back pocket, for eithr a 'physx machine' or just for use in a secondary rig...

Definitely gonna be weird to leave nvidia behind after all these years tho...so used to them being MONTHS behind in patches n stability n features n shit...but i dont use shadowplay anymore (they enshittified it) and while Ive learned to tolerate DLSS im assuming at this point DLSS n FSR are nearly identical so like...barring stability/quality differences, i dunno really what to expect/know/care about for features to make me lean one way or the other....but $ will definitely make me lean....

cause im not the biggest fan of games maxing out that VRAM now n getting closer over last 2 years...but with upscaling basically being a REQUIREMENT now as of the E33/Avatar FoP era...Ive always thought DLSS > FSR so...definitely a factor to consider....

At 1080p, yes. At any higher resolution, it'll maybe last you 5 years depending on the games you play and how willing you are to use Medium or Low visual presets. If you mainly play older games, it'll last you 5+ years easily. 10-15 years is an extremely long time in the tech world though, so expect to have to upgrade at least the GPU before then.
Also, as >>107768465 said, be very wary of that SSD. It's arguably the most budget drive currently sold and I've heard it's pretty well-known for having a variety of issues.

Any of them. 7800X3D issues were fixed a while ago and should largely be safe on any board with an up-to-date BIOS. Only ASrock boards are semi-consistently killing CPUs at this point and that's (almost?) entirely limited to 9000-series CPUs.

I posted this last night and already got informed that I'm too late which is probably true, but reposting it just in case:
Hi guys, I haven't built a pc in quite some years, but I want to have access to a personal workstation at home again. However, there's two caveats:
1. Because I haven't built one in years I feel like I'm quite a bit out of the loop
2. I originally wanted to build a PC later this year because I just bought a house and was waiting until all the renovations were done so I could purchase components with a more flexible budget (and honestly because I want to buy as little new stuff as possible until I move)
The current situation with the rapidly increasing prices has lead me to consider building a PC right now, but the aforementioned caveats lead me to be both quite unsure about what I should get and have reduced the amount of money I can (responsibly) spend on a PC.
What I need is something that can handle light simulation in possibly complex scenes (such as in 3D programs like Blender) well. I'm not a gamer and have zero interest in things like AI frames in games or anything like that, which from what I understand is a selling point for the RTX 50 series. I understand that a 5090 would be the "obvious" choice, but fuck that thing is really expensive. What are the expectations for near future announcements?
Country: The Netherlands
Budget: €3000 (I'm not dead set on that budget, but I would prefer to not spend much more than that. Open to different perspectives, though!)

How dumb is buying a 5090 right now? I can technically afford it, I'm just not sure if I want too,but I don't know what the proper alternative is. Could a 4090 serve me if I don't play games?
>>
>>107768486
okay. I swapped it with samsung 9100 pro 1tb. It should be enough for OS and games. As I dont keep many games installed at the same time anyway. Will maybe add a hdd for storing porn and stuff

Always found it strange as to why Nvidia is so insanely aggressive with pulling old products when older nodes are not constrained.
Apple does the correct thing in demphasizing the idea of a low end product and letting older premium products fill the low end.

You can find tons of examples of this monitor having burn-in in the first 6 months online.
OLED is like playing lottery, some units will burn-in faster than others, like some LCDs will have dead pixels earlier than others, that's how it's always been.

>>
>>107769677
Older nodes are always kept around. TSMC still has 130nm.
Hard to know how much excess capacity exists but given 30 series is Samsung, they likely have capacity.

I really don't know if the chromatic abberation/color vibration/3d comes from the subpixels, the coating, something else, because a matte layer diffused it alot, on glossy coating it was insane, like an entire oil spill over the image and solid colors reflecting the whole rainbow causing insane eye strain, never seen anything like it

Part of a marketing strategy where every product gets "premium" branding so even low end products can be sold for more.

Sounds like you can't afford it. Which is fine. Understanding that "affordability" is a slippery slope is a good thing, and differentiating a "toy" from "tool that makes me money" is an adult distinction.
> But I also dont want to overpay when Im eventually forced to upgrade.
lol. No one is forcing you to upgrade... there is little reason to upgrade anymore. It's not the 1980s, PC tech isn't moving that fast.
I've got a 15 year old system running Win10 as an eCommerce machine. It does 1 job and does it well.
If you don't want to pay the prices, wait. We are experiencing a localized pricing bubble. It will work itself out and prices will collapse, again, as they've done in the past.

Nothing in that statement makes sense.
If I have old DDR3 RAM and I think it's worth LMAO $200, because I see a bunch of ppl online asking $200 as well, I'll list it for that. If I get impatient, I might drop the price, or just forget I even listed it. I don't need to ask permission from anyone to do that, or make excuses for my decisions.
The exact same thing is happening in the PC / etc supply chain. FUD is running its course and small price increases in materials (due to AI server mfg buying up all the capacitiy) are making mega price increases at retail. Again, no one is asking permission, and any "excuses" you see published are just the OEMs / retailers signaling each other about price increases.

America has an obsession for firearms.
It's just you don't see constant retardation around pricing because guns are relatively easy to make.
Any semi-popular rifle/pistol/etc gets cloned by others or a cheaper alternative is made.
Hell even Glocks which aren't particularly expensive are undercut.

Hobbies dont get expensive at the entry to mid level because people are interested, they only get expensive in a controlled market with few suppliers.
