I've had this exact same experience, except they close the ticket despite me saying the issue wasn't resolved

Over 6 months... 6+ months of different jeets closing it, me re-opening it, and them passing it off to another jeet who does the exact same thing like its a game of hot potato

The problem was some LDAP rule that automatically kept removing me from the on-call schedule on a regular cadence, so I'd be scheduled a few weeks out, and then removed forcing some other coworker to take my place.

Now I didnt have a problem with this because thats less work for me but my boss (also a jeet) wanted me to open a ticket to get it resolved and it never did because they were that incompetent.

After 6 months, they laid me and 300+ others off for... take a wild guess... a massive billion dollar contract for more incompetent jeets employed by Accenture

I'm employed now by a much better company that doesn't use jeets but they are getting way too into AI and telling people to get AI to help them with work

It's the cafeteria in building #9. Not every building has a cafe. In that campus, 4, 6, and 9 do. Each one has multiple stands, each stand serving different types of food. 9 has the best in my opinion. 6 is decent as well (it has steaks), and 4 has the knockoff Chipotle Mexican food stand. It's alright, but kind of flavorless compared to real Chipotle. 9 has the best grill though, and also one that serves seafood stuff. It also has the best sandwich stand.

My manager has been increasing the scope of our job in such a "well nothing we can do" type way and it's starting to piss me off. For example (hey don't look at me I joined this job and it was already like this), all of our requests were done via email and we were looking on making a ticketing system, that's fine. But now our big man wants "hey you know what, we should also include supporting X,Y,Z" (even though it doesn't really make sense to include that type of support here) then we have a separate ticketing system that the company uses for IT related affairs (we're not IT) that I get tickets from (usually mistakenly because somehow I always get VPN related shit if they can't use our software). Then big boss is like "hey, why don't we also include a section so we can have our users ask for training" (I'm already smacking my head because I don't want to be even more responsible for knowing the ins and outs of their work and then always having to catch myself going "oh it's possible, you just can't do it because it's against our policy"). My manager's reaction to all this is just "welp" and it's annoying the shit outta me. here's the context, i work for a company doing network infraestructure jobs to offiice buildings, last month i was told to go check the cables in one office that was being remodelled and there was a bunch of network cables hanging from the ceiling into an horizontal conduit, i told my supervisor that they were most likely used and that they should be covered with a vertical conduit by the civil engineers since we don't deal with that, today he told me to look up for three (3) ethernet ports and cut the rest except other 3 so that in total there were only 6 cables hanging from the ceiling for the civil engineers to cover, i did just that and many users reported having no internet, at first i thought it was my collegue who unplugged something from the switch but it turned out that i cut off the ethernet cable for about 7 workstations, each with 3 ethernet cables each (in total i trimmed 32 cables so there was a lot of unused stuff as well)
i was told that i had to fix that today no matter what and that it was not feasible to route new cables, i only noticed that these cables went through the conduit to the workstations in the neighboring workspace rather than going from the ceiling directly to each port after the fact (the norm for this building in particular is that all cables must go through a fake ceiling).
i'm patching this by making female ports in each side of the cut and fusing the gap with a regular cable, i have to do both the RJ45s and the female ports and check if there is connection on the switch later and i can't leave until i'm done.

It's stock that isn't mine until a certain amount of time goes by. If I get laid off, I don't earn whatever % hasn't vested.

Right now I've vested 25%, which is awesome, but not really retirement territory. If I got laid off today, I'd have to leave behind ~$12M of the stock.

I'm also getting taxed out the fucking ass, a bit over effective 51% tax rate between federal, state, and local plus a bunch of other shit.

I think in the age of AI it is indeed very pointless to learn new technical skills. You can pick up any you need with AI quickly if you find yourself needing them.

Don't neglect social connections, I used to be pretty isolated. I think you need to find a community, it's best to find a group of people that are all working on developing a skill. For example, I found a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym that's a great community. I've also observed that musicians have a really good community going on, but I'm still learning the guitar and can't be part of that yet.

I tried the Asian food place at the cafeteria near my new office, and it was... pretty good! It's of course basically just mall-tier Chinese food (orange chicken and rice), but it's better than that god awful sandwich I had the other day.

I recommend Flatiron personally. General Assembly is good too. Are they all pricey?

Yes, but I know other Flatiron grads like myself that got jobs as a result. I've connected with General Assembly grads that made it very far too.

Biggest advice though, don't be like some of the retards I've seen that try to go in with zero clue. I had done years of tech support roles and scripting beforehand so I had a leg up on a lot of people including literally dumb bitches that didn't know shit about computers.

I've seen some pretty motivated people make it through.

However, big pro tip, every one of these bootcamps have their shit on GitHub in one way or another.

Find a grad on LinkedIn, look on their GitHub and see where they forked their shit from. Most of the time it was from the quarterly project repos that they give you as templates.

Anyway, the same effort can be done on your own with the proper schedule as well.

I did all of that shit while taking care of my father in law in the hospital and with a full time job.

You can do it Anon but only you and only you will have the strength and balls to apply for jobs even during the bootcamp like I did. That was the only way I got my first dev job mid bootcamp.
