most expensive mkg thing you boughts?
>>
>>107816536
Most expensive thing I've bought so far was the Typface monospace, and if the typeplus stabs end up working out I might finally have that board "done" after much fussing. Although I might need to re-seat a couple of switches because the keycaps aren't sitting quite right, and the numpad 0 stabs are a little out of alignment causing it to feel sluggish. But the mx browns are properly broken-in, lubed and filmed, with springs that feel just right and don't ping, and the plate is spray-painted black so the silver doesn't show between my keycaps, and the force break pads have eliminated all case ping (which might not have existed actually, at first I misdiagnosed spring ping as case ping because I'm a noob)...

So now other than Typeplus being ever so slightly problematic and the springs having the tiniest bit of crunch and one stab binding a little and a few keys sitting slightly crooked and the keykobo spacebar sounding just a tiny bit thin and the force break maybe needing to be removed but maybe not it's basically done...

It's not done...

You nitpick. Just ride the scratchy ticks. It's what separates a pro from a scrub in the upper tier of this hobby. That's right, stock unlubed MX Browns with crunchy springs and ticking stabs is a sign of veterancy. A real outlaw can handle it without missing a beat.

What are the best 75% ISO HE keyboards that also work on Linux Fedora? I don't play FPS but I play a lot of rhythm games.
I don't even give a shit about the price I just want to know if there's anything out there better than what keychron or wooting offer.

Got my Tex Shinobi last year, with greens. Waiting for the right Tex Yoda to listing to come up. Been using my Poker III, with simple blacks, since it dropped almost a decade ago now. Not done. Once I have all five configs that I want/need, I'll be set.

Seeing prices from the bad old days is sobering. Important to remember the oldheads who paid through the nose for boards we'd pay ~$300-400 for today. They nourished this hobby in its infancy and paid the R&D costs for all the things we take for granted now.

My custom brown alps keyboard. I think brown alps are the second most expensive switch.

My switches? Black

butchering the layout in order to keep these keys which are either useless, a nuisance, or easily bound to a function layer combo because seldom used, is retarded

Had one of these. Aside from the extremely clean alu and pleasant aesthetic of the badge, it was probably one of the worst keyboards I ever used. Stiff as a rock. Really. Maybe the hardest typing experience I had ever had. And it sounded dead as hell too. It's funny to think that during the COVID height these were going for thousands of dollars on the second hand market.

Hey ppl. How you deal with mapping of many accents of same letter? I have lots of them and they are mapped to number row by default - that's why i use numpad for numbers.
So, I'm trying to switch to split keeb (sofle) and I need more optimal solution. I could setup Ė when dbl tap on E, but I also have another E accent Ę, so I would need two weird actions on E key and thats does not looks like ergonomic solution...

I bought this for ~$3 at a garage sale (it was part of a three item purchase at $10).

It's a "Sunsonny" board and uses brown switches.

This after a different garage sale tried to sell me an OEM ASUS rubber dome board for $20 because it was "brand new" (it was but I still wasn't going to spend more than a dollar on it). I would have considered paying $20 for this, though (albeit not before attempting a negotiation first).

keyboards in 2006:
>keyboard is a typing and gaming device
>some are good, e.g. BTC 6300C and A1048
>almost everything is standardized, no surprises
>backlight is universally loathed by everyone because it's for razer kids
but also:
>funny schizos are jacking off on Model M in a tiny obscure corner of the internet because le old is better.jpg
I just shrug because I remember using that crap as a kid. I need a keyboard for typing and sometimes gaming, not fake nostalgia circlejerks.
>schizos invent keyboardphile religion
>rubber domes unreliable and bad
>Real Keyboards must sound like a machine gun and have 6ft key travel because le old is better.jpg
>wireless is a sin
that's why we can't have practical things
>>
keyboards in 2016:
>keyboard is a e-peen meter
>everything is still decently standardized, there's a few switch types but not too many
>schizo religion mostly took over
>scissor switches are now associated with laptops and flat keyboards
>good models are almost vanished
>razer kids grew up and transitioned, subverting the religion
>RGB is universally accepted
>numpad is endangered, goodbye Blender and ARMA
>>
keyboards in 2026:
>nobody uses them anymore, everybody is on tiktok
>keyboards don't have to make sense, they are here to collect, buy $200 keycaps, tinker with pretty lights, post photos, watch thousands of hours of youtube on them because you can't navigate all that ocean of chink crap otherwise
>reliability is worse than in rubber domes
I don't care, I'm only using a couple buttons if any
>98% with no right Alt
nobody needs composition and unicode. What are you, a t*pist?
>65% with a roller and a screen for ants, defying the point of minimalism
who cares, I don't use the keyboard anyway
>75% with an End but no Home
get on with the times gramps, we don't use our keyboards
>silent, linear, low-profile switches go against the original circlejerk
the religion fell, as it was driven by schizos. Machine gun sounds and 6ft travel is clearly not what people want
>>
>>107820154
>insert
ever heard of Ctrl+Ins and Shift+Ins?
it doesn't conflict with Ctrl+C
>caps lock
used as a convenient Ctrl remap by most, but sure, it should have been a large Ctrl instead
>prtsc
I have literal thousands of screencaps kiddo
>>
>>107825147
>but sure, it should have been a large Ctrl instead
OK, so why did you cram a ctrl into the bottom-left?
>>
>>107825147
>I have literal thousands of screencaps
You've copied and pasted more times than you've screencapped, and yet you do not have dedicated keys for either of these functions.
>>
>>107824968
You couldn't be more wrong.
You want a 100% keyboard without getting gouged? Get a Filco or a whatever, they're always on discount. Get a custom 100% board, there's always a few options every year with in-stock extras because faggots like you secretly use 40% boards while fantasizing about sawing your balls off.
Get a TKL. Get two. Get a polycarbonate TKL like Classic TKL. Get a full-metal one from Geon or Nuxros. Get anything, you can slap on a separate numpad which is a good thing because you can put it anywhere on your desk, giving you more manoeuvrability. I'm sure that's horrible to consider when you've hacked your dick off but it's no less of a TRANSgression.
Full metal keyboards are CHEAPER than EVER
Switch choices are WIDER than EVER
MORE RELIABLE than EVER
you want tactile? you want smooth linears? SURE THING PAL
you want the OG? Get the MX2A every vendor offers modded or stock unlubed ones for your benefit PAL
you can have anything you want
every boy, every girl can be yours you fucking TROON
stop WHINING
>>
>>107824968
I don't think the tiktokers who don't use keyboards are the ones buying the keyboards.
>>
>>107824968
>defying the point of minimalism

>defy
c. 1300, defien, "to renounce one's allegiance;" mid-14c., "to challenge to fight, dare to meet in combat;"

>point
c. 1200, pointe, "minute amount, single item in a whole; sharp end of a sword, etc.," a merger of two words, both ultimately from Latin pungere "to prick, pierce," from a nasalized form of PIE root *peuk- "to prick."

*The point* "the matter being discussed" is attested from late 14c.; meaning "sense, purpose, end, aim, advantage" (usually in the negative, as in what's the point?) is recorded by 1903.

nigger, all I want is a standard keyboard that works well, not to obsess over its customization like troons do
I want a product, not a fucking lego
>>107825279
thanks btw
>>
>>107825231
my impression is they do, after having to choose a keyboard recently
everyone is obsessing over gimmicks and ricing, and nobody wants a decent, thought-out physical product for actual typing, with a name you can trust
>>
>>107825378
You're welcome. And seconding other anon, get a Filco or a Leopold.

This would be my pick since I'm partial to MX browns:
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/leopold-np900rbt-bluetooth-two-tone-white-pd

Sadly doesn't seem like there are many Filco Majestouch boards in stock right now, just the ones with silent reds (not a fan) or the other models with pad printed abs caps (even worse). Hope they'll get more in the future.
