Constantly checking your 12vhpwr cable ironically makes it much likelier to melt so don't do that
>>

You can check the database
https://www.techpowerup.com/ssd-specs/
They keep track of hardware changes.
>>
If they did revive the 3060, would it be just pulling out existing cards in deep storage warehouses or spooling up those long-term 8nm machines to make more? Could it even be possible for them to try engineering in some new features like FP8 support on this old node just so that it can benefit from newer DLSS better?

You can still justify (to yourself) that waitfagging is possible with the 2080 but the cutoff point will be the 60 series (4 generations). Even then you could go for a lower class of card like a 5070 and save some money, if you are "okay" with the 2080's current performance, which gives us an idea of your standards.

The screen going black from static isn't surprising. I had this happen when I stood from my fabric desk chair, when I switched to a higher resolution and refresh rate screen. Changing the DP cable for a better one solved that problem.
If it's a reocurring problem you could get a better, insulated cable, but you have nothing to fear, it's signal interference, not electricity damaging components.

This time before i went on a trip i left pc plugged in, after 2 weeks i boot it up and no issues at all. Is this dead CMOS battery or something else?

What exactly does an Nvidia card builder do? Arethey just buying a full pcb board and building stuff around it, or are they buying gpu chips and designing pcb, sourcing memory, etc?
I've always wondered what they do since there's so many of them, figure it can't be that hard.
>>
>>107840873
They get the GPU cores (and used to get memory but not anymore), everything else they have to make themselves. They still have to follow some guidelines (which have been very strict the last couple of gens) but they're still free to, for example, overbuild the power delivery system.
>>
>>107840843
Notice how they don't talk about the CPU cores
It must be terrible
>>
>>107840873
They design and manufacture the PCB (you can check techpowerup for photos) and heatsink, source the memory chips.
Premium brands might offer one extra video out, extra power connectors for overclocking and shit like RGB(T) lights and meme cooling solutions.
>>
>>107840873
They build cards and handle the distribution of goods to regions/retailers and handle customer service
>>
>>107840781
They're a "budget brand" because they sell so many cards they can afford to not be as jewish as everyone else off of sheer volume, but they're very solid. A hundred times better than the other budget brand in zotac at least

am I doing this right?

I have 32GB RAM (CL16 3200 MHz) and MSI GAMING X TRIO RTX 3090 in this build currently that I don't plan on changing as I bought brand new, sealed 2 years ago.

I want to have build that will last me next 5 years when I will decide to move to AM5 socket and 40xx or 50xx and don't want to spend over 1000 euros on this upgrade.

I use it for local AI, video editing, Photoshop and sometimes gaming at 1440p and honestly don't care about having the top-tier possible build.

I want to upgrade other components as well so it will be future-proof as in working with AM5 socket when I decide to move to it in 3-5 years when AM6 is released

And also because I have 500 spare euros I want to spare on upgrade.

>>107841321
I need to upgrade my PSU because I was getting random BSOD when there were energy spikes on my GPU and reason for that was 750W is bare minimum for RTX 3090 and also I had daisy-chain PCIE connector.

>>107841328
Because 5500 is PCIe 3.0 and I could use CPU with PCIe 4.0 for my GPU

Also, because of how the NZXT case is build it can become really hot under workload or gaming so I want to give it more air to breathe.

BTW, any tips on how to prolong longevity of the GPU apart from using standard support bracket?

TL;DR: Monitors for workstation: 2x 24" monitors stacked using monitor arm vs 1x 32" (or bigger) monitor (or TV) in vertical mode?

I have 3 monitors:
- middle (main): 24" 144hz (Dell S2716DG, ~5y old)
- left/right: 21,6" 60hz (~15y old)

The right monitor decided to die and now I'm thinking whether to replace it with 2x e.g. 24" stacked monitors using monitor arm or just a single bigger (32" or more) monitor (or even TV) and using it vertically.

I use the PC for working (programming) and gaming and I have shit tons of stuff on other monitors (background video/stream, idle game, discord/whatsapp, documentation etc) and 3 monitors don't feel enough anymore.

The left one is also probably living its last years, but I guess I'll replace it with a single similar monitor only.

Any recommendations on 2x stacking vs 1x vertical, on monitor arms, or some simple 60hz 1080p/1440p IPS 24" monitors?

Should I just say fuck it and grab a 3090 until it breaks with this ongoing market instead of buying a new 5070? I fucking hate being a VRAMlet when I had 96GB of DDR4 long before AM5 existed owned a 16GB GPU in 2019 before selling it for $300 in anticipation of Ampere.

I'm getting parts to build my first PC and I'd really like to have a VGA on it the CPU I already bought has no integrated graphics so a VGA on the motherboard won't work I thought I'd get a display adaptor with VGA found some really cheap ones on ebay (one I'm looking at right now is the "ATI Rage XL 8MB") but those usually have PCI and I can't find any motherboards with the socket I need that have PCI slots. Wat do, /g/entlemen?

4060 Ti has more VRAM and better efficiency

get some ptm7950 and thermal putty too if you're going with 3090
the 3090 i bought had totally evaporated pastes and thermal pads were making the vram throttle under load
if you do it right, you should even have quite a lot of overclocking headroom which will let it perform close to a 3090ti/4070ti

You know what's retarded, used 4060 Ti's are still over $400 second hand where I live, double the price of my 3060 Ti second hand right now. There has been zero generational improvement for my tier since 2022 unless I spend $750 again.

You don't need a VGA port directly on the computer, look for an active DP or HDMI to VGA adapter (but check reviews, some are pretty bad).

Yeah, I'm aware of the pad issue. I hesitated on a refurbished and repadded Gainward 3090 the other month despite testing it in person and getting good temps at stock voltages (memory still got hot though). My only remaining option is a Strix model at $720-$750 which needs fan replacements, though I'll likely deshroud it if I buy it (assuming its as good condition as the last one which is not certain unless I test it).

I remember some suggesting copper mods on the VRAM but I don't trust it.

>so I have some protection against my PC spontaneously combusting
that alarm won't protect you from your pc spontaneously combusting. it will only notify you that your pc has spontaneously combusted

Funny this was brought up. Mine are coming today.

>zero generational improvement
I know it's not groundbreaking but even ignoring the gayscaling "improvements" there's still almost a 30% difference between the 3060Ti and the 5060Ti.

dont copper mod. its only great for short term overclocking but not long term reliability since it stresses the solder balls and can crack it which will require the vram to be resoldered to work again.
and i think its best you deshroud the strix. that's the one i have and its fans are very mediocre in noise / cooling.
