4K if you mostly plan to play games with DLSS support or older games that a 5080 can easily handle at native resolution.
1440p if you mostly play FPS.
>>
>>107844587
yea cause the 4k monitor will upscale the 1440p and this can look like ass. That's why some recommend quality DLSS as it renders at 1440p and upscales to 4k if you don't mind fake resolutions.

Will a i5-13600kf bottleneck a 5080 at 1440p?
Was watching some videos which compare the 13600kf to a 7800x3d, and for example at 2160p, where the amount of bottleneck should be even smaller, a 13600kf + 3090 ti was struggling to keep hit 60 fps in cyberpunk, meanwhile a 7800x3d + 3090 ti even hit 90+ fps at a point.
Unironically can't tell if this is legit or just the uploaders of these vids trolling.
Also, should I get a aorus (32000 mhz) instead of a an asus prime oc (30000 mhz)? The aorus should run 10 celsius cooler at high loads than the asus prime, but it also costs 300 dollars more in my shithole.

This thing can project 100” from 8-10 ft away at a height of 30 something inches. Latency is I think sub 15ms. It’s 550$. Is there anything better or cheaper and comparable? I have a large wall and am thinking this might be pretty great.
>>
>>107844444
Can I buy a smaller (e.g. 128GB) M.2 SSD that will last longer than a common 1TB drive? Maybe one made with two-level or single-level cells? Seems like there’s a market for it.

But it probably wouldn’t be faster since larger drives can parallelise or whatever.
>>
>>107844881
7800x3d is superior but more $
That’s also a good intel chip

I don’t see how cyberpunk bottlenecks one and not the other that game is gpu heavy and 1440p will make it work even more, 1080p you should see intel struggle on cpu games
>>
>>107844881
x3d/big cache gives you superb 0.1% lows plus higher and consistent fps on the lower end
lizard lake are good cpus fror goybench/(((work)))/screenshots but at the end of the day if you mainly just gayme theres a reason they are sold out everywhere
tldr no its not a bottleneck, around that resolution and higher youre gpu limited unless its some dogshit game like cybergoy or ue5 shit
>>
>>107844587
1440p doesn't have integer scaling with 2160p like 1080p to 2160p does.
You'd never render 1440p on a 4K monitor ideally, you'd use DLSS instead.
>>
>>107844881
Cyberpunk 2077 while driving is extremely CPU demanding (though well optimized). Unless you're keeping your old monitor, you should be going 4K IMO

GUYS
LISTEN TO ME

i finally solved this mystery, it took me a while, but I DID IT.

I couldn't figure out why the fuck people are still buying radeon gpus. Like, it doesn't make absolutely any fucking sense, right? No matter how you look on it, it's a completely moronic and useless purchase. I just couldn't figure it out.
WHY? Why would someone do it. Nvidia is superior in every way.
And then it came to me.
Eureka moment.

Buying a radeon is actually a real 5d chess move.
When the feds will go door to door to seize your gpus and draft you for the war with Iran/China/Russia you can just show them your rdna card and you'll get an immediate draft exemption. If you willingly bought a radeon you clearly are so mentally retarded that you'll just be a huge liability for the military, even as a meat shield. You wont even need to fake it, to scream or shit your pants or anything like that. They literally won't even bother with medical examination, just the fact that you have ayymd gpu in your pc will be compeltely sufficient.
And since radeons aren't really graphic cards, but expensive and inefficient space heaters, they wouldn't want to take it from you. If you have a geforce you're fucked ofc, but If you will offer them a 9070xt or 7900xtx, they will most likely think you mistook them for garbage collectors. Feds will leave you alone and won't bother you ever again.

It's fucking brilliant. Ayymd cards can't compete with nvidia, but they can save your life.
Think about it.

>Cyberpunk 2077 while driving is extremely CPU demanding
Well that's something I absolutely did not even think of.
>Unless you're keeping your old monitor, you should be going 4K IMO
I plan on keeping the 1440p until 4k tandem oleds release. GPUs are kinda cheap rn compared to how they were and how they are probably about to be, so it's the perfect time to buy. Already missed my opportunity to get one brand new for only 2/3 of the regular price as they sold out in virtually no time, but they should be back in stock soon so I'll get one if the price stays the same.

Mobo I wouldnt trust buying used

DDR5 too many scams going around rather buy it new, yes its $200 more expensive but what can you do.

Monitors you cant really buy used either too much shipping and not worth the risk of it being damaged while shipping.

CPU is too expensive and basically the exact same price used

Can I use 2 8-pin PCIe cables to power 5070ti via 3x female 12VHPWR adapter? Meaning one 8 pin would be empty. I only need to turn on PC to see if all the ROPs are there. I'm only doing it since my PSU wouldn't arrive anytime soon and my GPU return window would close.

Yes

As long as those 2x8-pins aren't fed by the same cable.

not him but if a budget monitor did exist, it's going to have fewer zones (a pulsar display is basically a mini-led display but with horizontal stripes and no HDR).
I dunno what affects that would have (would it affect low fps or high fps or both?)
I don't think we are going to have a pulsar mini-led any time soon until they showcase it.
And the prices make sense when compared to the zowie dyac2 and the nvidia tax.

retard take, we are not going back to traditional compute, this is like saying that if AI slop does not exist government, millitary and sciene would no longer need hardware to do math calculation in real time, at some point is time to let it go and stop believeing techtubers farming drama and realize market decoupling is only a few year away as silicon photonics will replace copper cables in data centers and electronic companies separate the nodes so top grade sillicon will only be avaliable to datacenter costumers, nvidia already announced that consumer Feynman will stay on the same NP3 node as vera rubin rather than push A16 to costumers

it would mean nothing because there is only 1 chip fabrication company, tsmc (and samsung and intel and smic, but for GPU's that matter, it's tsmc).
do you really think that they would just reduce the prices?
If they sell less chips, they will produce less chips, fire people and maybe close some plants, and they will have some lower expenses, and maybe they will sell one of the few EUV fabs for a discount or something and then they could get the next gen EUV fab.
And I believe the deals between tsmc and designers like nvidia last a long time (lead time), so once AI does flop, you better hope this isn't another housing market / covid crisis where it turns out that this is the perfect time to buy the dip and make a lot of money.
And if Nvidia and AMD canceled orders expecting the worse, we then have a chip shortage because the chip orders were canceled and TSMC sold the capacity to someone else or something.

if anything, they will increase the prices of GPU's to offset the losses they made from AI GPU's.
Since AI GPU's are making like a 70% margin or something (or maybe that's the total margin of nvidia, maybe AI gpu's are at 300% and the rest is spent on R&D or something), while gaming GPU's make 10-20% or something (sometimes negative depending on the quarter).

Shipped and sold by Amazon Warehouse. Looks exactly like every other WD SSD I've ordered: a proper serial number, Made in Malaysia, all the warranty papers, etc, except this was the version with the heatsink, so the actual drive itself was hidden. Was immediately suspicious when I threw it into an external reader to check and it was immediately recognized as Local Disk. Then ran CrystalDiskInfo and saw that I had been bamboozled. Someone tossed a WD 250GB datacenter drive into it with 15TB already written and 10% of the "life" gone.

You already know by now but Amazon Warehouse is like 100x worse to buy than from random accounts on ebay. I used to avoid buying GPUs from Amazon but HDDs, SSDs and RAM are even becoming too sketchy to buy from there now.

First time dealing with an actual I'm looking forward to it. Last high-value return I did with them it took 2-3 months to get my money back. Ordered a second 8TB just for funsies, so expect another post kvetching about altered-SSDs in the near future.

>>107846608
>You already know by now but Amazon Warehouse is like 100x worse to buy than from random accounts on ebay
Yeah it's always a gamble, but it's the first time happening with an SSD (for me). Had 3 4TB and 1 8TB show up as described from the Warehouse, so this'll be the first but maybe not the last. I wish I had been more in-touch with eBay buying before prices exploded because there were some solid deals.

>>107846683
Amazon Warehouse/Amazon Resale is just how Amazon re-lists returned items at lower prices. They label stuff as Used-Like New/Good/Acceptable etc with descriptions for each. During Prime Days, they'll randomly discount stuff sold via Warehouse by up to 30% the already discounted price. Main issue is that their descriptions are often not accurate to the condition the item is actually in. Sometimes you get a Like New that's very clearly Heavily Used, and sometimes you get an Acceptable that looks like it hasn't even been opened. It's a more fun/slightly less risky form of gambling, basically.
>>
>>107846508
The sn850x 8tb I ordered from regular Amazon for $650 a year ago was a returned item but was brand new and legitimate
>>

>First time dealing with an actual [counterfeit]*

>>107846718
Yeah, the one other 8TB I ordered (from Amazon) was an SN850X and, as far as I could tell, it was legit. Crystal Disk Info had some issues with it, i.e. it recognized it was 8TB but was throwing an "Unknown" in the description, which was a little odd. I'll probably need to double check to make sure it's not a more elaborate fake now, but since Disk Management showed it with 8TB(ish) of space and CDI recognized it, it should probably be fine.

Can't you just return the item, if it's in bad shape or doesn't match the description? Amazon does have pretty good return policy in general (i used it myself once, they reimbursed the cost of the item + shipping costs) to the point that people actually abuse it.
In my case was amazon.de though, maybe it's different in the US/elsewhere.
The only way how you probably get scammed by them is if they refuse to reimburse you (in case you decide to return your item) or subtract some amount of money from the reimbursement, because they will decide it's no longer "like new".

>Can't you just return the item, if it's in bad shape or doesn't match the description?
Yeah, you can. That's why it's a less risky form of gambling. That said, as someone from the US, I've had Amazon "issue" a refund but I don't actually get the money back until well over a month later. For low value items they'll typically offer an advance refund, i.e. they'll immediately credit your payment method as soon as you drop off the to-be-returned item, but for high value stuff it usually takes quite a while which is annoying.

Fuck it I bought it. I might even go triple fan and buy another NF-A14x25r.

My 9800X3D deserves to be cooled... and no thanks I don't want to mess with AIO.

Only thing that kind of scares me is how much it weighs, but I imagine Noctua wouldn't make a cooler that broke motherboards...

Also, WTF is going on with AM5 mobo prices? Y'all say RAM, GPU etc going up but my X870E motherboard just went up $150, are mobo makers preparing a refresh or is it just market adjustment due to the RAM/GPU due to lower sales?

no, but they do use the same fabs dummy, those fabs could be used to make much more expensive AI components
>>
>>107846898
PC component manufacturers will be raising prices in an attempt to offset the overall reduction in sales volume.
Raw material costs are also rising.
>>
>>107846898
>are mobo makers preparing a refresh or is it just market adjustment
It's a bit of both. We're coming off end of year sales, so prices are returning to pre-holiday "normal" and on top of that, to offset additional expenses they're going to accrue from increasing memory prices several manufacturers have explicitly mentioned they intend to raise prices on their other products. Also, I know for sure GIGABYTE and MSI are in the midst of releasing a motherboard refresh line (the "X3D and "MAX/EVO" lines respectively), so they're probably trying to make their new stuff more appealing by raising the price on the old stuff, i.e. "Why pay $300 for that icky X870E Tomahawk when you could pay just $20 more for this shiny newe X870E Tomahawk MAX and guarantee your motherboard is Zen 6 compatible?"
>>
>>107846912
Save up. Looks sexy. Huge contact bottom. I got standard in case I want to reuse it in 10 years with either Intel or AMD's new sockets.
Doesn't seem wise to get an LBC model for my AM5 when a) doesn't come in black 2) marginal increase over standard 3) will be worse than an old D15/S if I end up going back to Intel in the future

>>107846951
Makes sense. Hopefully my MSI MPG X870E is future proofed. Currently using 2 NVME slots but will fill the third in the future. If SSD ever returns to normal I'll get a fourth and debate dropping my PCIE 5 x16 to x8 as it will marginally drop my 5070 Ti's potential.

The overheating issue is limited to a few defective batches.
This is why you always wait 2~3 months until you purchase a brand new product.
Plenty OLED monitors had janky VRR, panel protect, and HDR EOTF tracking issues.
