>>
USA, Budget preferably under $350
I've been playing around with AI image generation with ComfyUI on my laptop with a 4050 Mobile 6GB, it's cool but the VRAM is limiting of course. Looking to get a desktop GPU to put in one of my PCs so I can use larger models. Need a GPU with 16GB of VRAM (or more) that can do the job on the cheap, doesn't need to be fast, just effective. I was looking at older workstation cards on eBay but don't know much about those.
TL;DR: best value cheap new or used GPU with 12-16GB+ of VRAM for AI image generation? May also end up using it for video editing and encoding.

I've been thinking similar but for ssds. How bad would it actually be to with a 500 gig only instead of 1tb which is often called the minimum? I got fast interest to uninstall and reinstall shit lots so it should be okay right?

My PSU is an old 850W EVGA Supernova G3 purchased around its release date in 2017 (heavy usage, mostly gaming, since then). I was thinking of upgrading my graphics card to a 9070XT, but I know that PSUs degrade over time and that newer cards have bad transient spikes. Also iirc EVGA is dead now. Should I replace the old PSU for the 9070XT as well? Or am I just being paranoid?
>>
>>107942849
I wish I had that kinda money to throw around. Have fun bro.
>>
>>107942821
AMD cards work good in comfyui now with rocm on windows and latest driver has a bundle to set it all up for you even. So you could go 9070 or 9070 XT being as 5070 ti prices have gone insane again.
>>
>>107942821
Renting AI gpu's is better.
Obviously the only reason why you would rent is because you are generating porn, because the free AI image websites don't allow porn (well, they have a lot of anime AI models that could make porn, huggingface spaces has some nsfw spaces running wild, but they say it's against their TOS, unless it's a corpo model like nano banana).
So you could rent like 48gb for like 50 cents an hour (I think it's billed per minute).
I personally don't mess with image generation, I only do LLM's. But I'm sure there is a youtube video that goes through everything you need to setup through "vast ai" or huggingface (you need to duplicate a space, and you host it youself?) or whatever (lambda labs? I never did any research on it).
For owning hardware, gaming is the best benefit.
You should probably just wait, rent, then buy when ram prices go down (ideally after the AI bubble pops).

yes, but if you already have a shitty PC that complements it, you got what you paid for.
Like, a 3050 6gb would cost like 30% more, but it would be 30% faster + DLSS would help a lot if you pirated cyberpunk (but amd is probably a tiny bit more comfy on linux, but the 3050 would get better fps in linux).
And a 5060 TI / 9060 would cost 3x more, but it would be 3x faster.
You could have done worse honestly. Like at least you didn't get a GT 1030.

I don’t consider $10k as an impossible expenditure. I literally saved it up over several months
>>
>>107942995
you should upgrade your monitor, the 6500 XT is too strong for it honestly.
you could hold onto the monitor if it has freesync (VRR), but if it doesn't, get any new $100 1080p monitor with more FPS.
If you like movie/film a lot and want a monitor that "looks better", since after all, a $100 high refresh monitor will look SICK due to more fps, but the actual panel is still IPS so blacks still look the same. This monitor is only in the US, 1440p isn't that big, your 6500 XT can handle it if you enable FSR or you just lower the resolution of your display (I think the AMD adrenalin tool has a setting to enable Fidelity FX for all games, so even old games can be upscaled but the fonts will look crusty).

>>107943055
*I forgot to mention it's a $350 mini-led (I had a stroke writing that).
so normal LCD displays just have one big LED in the back, but a miniled has zones, this one has 1000 zones.
But for $150 more you could get a qd-oled (it's objectively better, but has a purple color to it in a bright room). But the concern is that it needs to be replaced faster due to burn in, and font clarity.
And apparently the option in adrenalin is not called Fidelity FX, it's called RSR (Radeon Super Resolution, but it's technically the same thing).

radeon APU's have no access to FSR4 anon, the 5060 ti can archive a much higher frame rate than that while matching the image quality on the left and you know it, even though i think what happening there is that the 5060 ti is having vram buffer issues which again can be fixed lowerin the textures or using a more agressive upscaling method

I bought this card during the pandemic when I was desperate to to play some multiplayer games with friends and I was on an old RX 460 in a prebuilt. Honestly, it worked better than I thought it would at the time. For today? Do not try this with any AAA made after 2020 and even some high end indies.

I had one of their drives show up DOA, sadly I didn't bother checking it for 2-3 months so I couldn't return to amazon, so having to do an RMA, so but so far it's fairly painless, just had to pay for shipping which kinda blows, but better than buying a whole new drive.

The last good Seagates I had was Seagate Cheetah 9LP 9.1GB Ultra2 Wide SCSI drives in the 90s. Made the noise of a buzz saw though.
Later Seagate qt deteriorated and I eventually stopped buying them. When I made an exception in 2016 I immediately regret it.

You might need to save up a little more. You can gen on AMD cards but there's no way around how much slower it is. Your only real option for cheap + good VRAM is the 5060ti 16gb. They're marked up after the panic buying but they're still easier to find than 5070ti cards.

My 9600x went to sleep and never wake up because I had an ASSrock mb. Sent them both to the shop and got new parts. The dilemma is: buy a new mb from another manufacturer or risk it and go with the new ASSrock and pray? Bonus question: what is the best manufacturer ( the one with lower chance of killing my cpu, that is)

>>
>>107944393
Just get a Niggabyte board. Those seem to be among the least issue-prone for AM5.

question why are thermal pastes used instead of silver squares the size of the cpu that are a few mm thick? The bolts would give it complete surface contact anyway and it's optimal heat transmission? It does not melt until 961.8 degrees?

I am leaning towards Niggabyte too, too bad my aSUS AM4 is still fine but I heard they also got issues.

There will still be microscopic air gaps in between, and silver won't fill that gap unless you melt it first, besides the fact that spilling silver would mean some catastrophic shorts.

11% at 1080p, 17% at 1440p, 20% at 4k.

Such is the price of being the superior breed. I walk around town and everybody is like a statue chiseled by a classic era Greek. They need their cheap GPU because it's their only chance to access beauty, even if only for a mere game session.

If a 3070 Ti can use around 300W, why do people recommend 650W+ for one?
Wouldn't 500W be enough for one with a 7600X CPU and an NVMe drive? Not going to be plugging in 15 hard drives or 40 case fans or something. Just a simple 3 case fans 1 air cooler and 1 NVMe drive.
