Welp the 9070 XT is still the "value" leader, better price/performance than the 5070 Ti.

Anyone with a 9070XT testing the new drivers? Are they guuud?

I have a pre build Lenovo desktop here without motherboard fan speed control. Any fan controllers that I can use to change the speed of the CPU fan? Currently eyeing the
>Corsair Commander CORE XT
but this seems relatively expensive to just change the fan speeds. The problem is that the CPU fan ramps up at about 85 degrees Celsius, but nothing happens before it so the curve is fucked. I cannot change it in the BIOS or otherwise, and Fan Control does not recognize the motherboard controller, so I need a dedicated controller.
>>
>>107959588
Does the Lenovo have fan speed controls in the BIOS? Do you know which fan controller is being used on the mainboard?

>>107959551
They also fucked up the Adrenaline control panel its more buggy than before. It either randomly closes or just shows nothing. A workaround is to install the panel from the MS Store because its older but it works.

I suppose I can just use last months driver for this one, maybe by the time all the parts are in they will have it fixed. Thanks anons for the input.
>>
>>107959607
>Does the Lenovo have fan speed controls in the BIOS?
Nope, none whatsoever. I'll try some other tools but Fan Control only sees the GPU fan. There is nothing else recognized, not the CPU fan nor the intakes/exhaust (although those are fine as it stands).

Dear former fellow waitfags.
I am sorry to inform you that I ordered a marked down 9070xt. You can consider this a betrayal, but I really did not intend to betray you. Im sorry, that was probably the last cheap 9070xt. Price went up straight 50€ after I ordered. I have broken my own claims. I dont know. It feels good tho. I will sell my other gpus. You can find good deals on ebay. Maybe you will buy my GPUs, they are in good condition. Thank you for being a gamer. I will turn up the graphics settings a bit now. It will be sharper a bit. I paid money for this. Apparently my case supports vertical mounting of my GPU.
it's a Fractal Define 7 XL.
Any good riser cable suggestions? Everything seems hit and miss on Amazon.

Also, is it really beneficial to mount vertical? Better life of fans and less prone to damage the mobo and GPU PCB?
>>
>>107960460
probably not. those aren't exactly flying off the shelves anyway, just get it when the roads thaw.
>>
>>107960455
A prebuilt from Microcenter is your best option.
>>
>>107960511
if you have a heavy gpu, vertical mounting is just the best solution to ensure there's no bending and chip separation/damage. Even anti-sag brackets can cause pcb twisting or reverse sag in some cases.

The downsides come if your cooler uses a vapor chamber, you can lose up to 10c of performance. It's a real meme and a half since said vapor chambers are only shaving 1-3c off of a normal coldplate. Look into your model's cooler before you decide to go vertical. Or just lay your pc on its side to simulate a vertical mount and test the temps.

It's a QLC and DRAM-less gen4 drive. Just about the worst possible quality available. Avoid at any price, much less $300+ USD.
>>
>>107960748
>the issue
Care to elaborate? Micro stuttering? Those burned up sockets?

The micro stutters are almost always from frame rate monitoring software and it's pretty much ASRock boards that are burning. I'm running a Gigabyte X870E for the last year and have not had either problem.
>>
>>107960748
I think it’s just ASUS boards at the moment, but as usual it has to do with the way the board’s EXPO/DOCP profile is aggressively tuned. If you just don’t enable it in the bios you’ll have nothing to worry about, but you won’t be running your memory at its advertised speed, which isn’t the end of the world.
>>
>>107960765

I was planning on undervolting my cpu this time because of temps, so im not sure if that plan kinda falls apart because of this, never tried undervolting anything
>>
>>107960788
just make sure your BIOS is up to date and your vsoc voltage is like 1.2v or less and you should be fine
>>
>>107960788
If it makes you feel any better I’ve been running a 9800x3d in an ASUS board for months now with no issues, even with the EXPO profile enabled. I think it’s just one of those things where a couple of cases popped up on Reddit and now people are blowing it up into a huge thing.
You can just leave it off as a safety measure and not worry about it.

The only thing that I know people use servers for, is LLM AI server (which doesn't need a xeon/epyc mobo because inference doesn't need pcie bandwidth, BUT the mobo is a fraction of the cost of a 5090 so why not), and storing files (which a n100 from aliexpress could do, lower power = cheaper, you want something that doesn't idle with lots of watts).
By the way, USB4 slots work as nvme pcie gen 3 drives if you buy an $50~ adapter (maiwo is the one brand that supports usb4, I don't know if anything better is out). Note that just because it's ~3000MB/s, doesn't mean big copies are slow if you have a SSD that can sustain write speeds for a long time, since some SSD's will not hold their advertised top speeds for long (you can see pcpartpicker benchmarks sometimes).
Intel and AMD have basically the same IO. Intel is very slightly better in IO (you will not hit the bottleneck, it doesn't matter), but AMD is better in terms of gaming because the 9800x3d is just better for a few console port benchmark games.
If you want the fastest network connection imaginable, you could get one of those Nvidia DGX spark pc's (no windows however). It's really stupid to buy it for not AI, but the connector is 200GBe, which is pretty fast. But to connect it to a normal PC, you need a pcie adapter that costs $1000+.

Both Linus and dankpods used the shittiest distros possible, dankpods was even running NVK and llvmpipe(software rendering) in some games for some reason.

This is why distros really need leave this nvidia image/ISO build behind and work on auto detecting tools at install like CachyOS, if dankpods and Linus had used CachyOS the results would have been better for nvidia.

Howdy y'all. I'm looking to build my 1st and final PC to last me through the upcoming tech apocalypse. I expect prices to get higher and remain high for the unforeseeable future so I want to go all out rn in hopes this PC will last me the next 7-10 years. I mainly emulate PS3 games and below and do video editing for fun such as making anime AMVs, HMVs, and PMVs. I know this build might be overkill but I dont want to eat ze bugs and be happy owning nothing.

BUILD LINK: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hWLYPJ

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU COOLER: Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black 60.09 CFM CPU Cooler

PSU: Lian Li EDGE 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
OS: WINDOWS 10 PRO

I already own a few of the parts such as the 5070 ti, the 96 gb of RAM, and SSD. I mainly need help with the motherboard and PSU. Is this a good motherboard in terms of reliability and number of usb ports? And will this PSU connect to multiple HDDS? Someone told me the PSU might not.

Also, should I buy additional fans for better cooling? I head DDR5 memory runs hots and would benefit from jerry rigging a minicooler on it. But that sounds like broscience to me.

Help me /pcbg/. Your my only hope.

I daily drive windows but I still don't understand braindead YouTubers. I somehow was managing running slackware as a novice Linux user in 2009 while in my 20s on various testbeds while working as an intern for a major hard drive company. Do these people actively delete or fuck with their dependencies? This is why you run a live environment first to test and try out things, and make sure (if you're a novice/new) no other storage is attached when you're running the environment (unless you don't mind fixing with it).

Linux reminds me of woodworking. You don't hand someone new a power tool until they master the chisel and file and sandpaper.

Why are you getting the X670E over X870E?
I almost have this exact same build that I'm starting too.
Also, you should either check if you can install a Noctua U14S or D15S in that case. Double check Noctua's website for mobo and RAM compatibility. Otherwise you should be running a push pull with an Sx2 PP fan set so it doesn't harmonize.

>96gb ram
welcome to the club brother
>I head DDR5 memory runs hots and would benefit from jerry rigging a minicooler on it.
Generally more of a concern with liquid cooling, your U12A should be sufficient airflow for the memory, but yeah they do make dedicated ram fans or you can use zip ties to strap a fan that blows directly onto the memory. In practice it really isn't going to matter unless you like running P95 Large FFTs all the time and/or your pc is a hotbox with no airflow. You've got an O11 Dynamic though, assuming you've kitted out all the fan slots, it's going to be cold as a cucumber in there anyway.
>And will this PSU connect to multiple HDDS?
I checked that power supply's pin-out and i see SATA power so there should be included cables for SATA power. Multiple even, and you'll only need one for two hdds.

Good luck in the pc apocalypse, if your build doesn't cut it, mine won't either.

I have the same gpu as you except it's a 5080. I believe the cooler and even the pcb is identical between these models. You should have a traditional cold plate on that card, which means orientation means fuck-all. Vertical mount it all day.

The Vanguard would have been a vapor chamber which may have been suboptimal vertical.

For a riser you may as well go with Gen 4, it'll be cheaper and potentially more reliable and there's no functional difference this gen between 4 and 5 performance-wise. I don't even know if gen 5 risers exist atm.

idk about the 011d "specifically", but im using one of the 849043785 clones of that exact case many other companies have made since it was such a successful design so i know the same wisdom should apply. You'll want three intakes on the side; it's best to put a radiator here if you have one. Three intakes on the bottom feed cool air directly to your gpu so that's a no-brainer. Three exhausts on top, and one rear exhaust, all drawing hot air away from cpu/gpu. You'll have a torrential amount of air flowing through keeping the inside of the case from ever getting hot, as well as good positive pressure..

Lots of these are optional but if you want to go full tilt that's how you do it. You could realistically forego the side intake and top exhaust entirely, especially since you're on air cooling.
>>
>>107961488
yeah sure but on the other hand you have DLSS and dynamic frame generation
if the GPU is performant enough to saturate 1440p, then doesn't it kind of go to waste in some sense (and even more with a gpu upgrade, though I'm not doing that for a years)
>>
>>107961494
4k means you get better quality but now your latency is like 12.5ms. Versus 1440p where you its less quality than 4k but now your latency is 7.4ms. Almost 60% increase.

Diminishing returns in terms of pixel density over 1440p (relative to 1440p vs 1080p), but 32" 4K means the pixels are basically visually undetectable. You can still get good antialiasing with low blur on a 1440p monitor by using 4K DLDSR and DLSS in conjunction. 4K is essentially the best you need on desktop unless you have hawk vision.

With a 5070 Ti, you can run 4K full res in anything that doesn't have DLSS, and DLSS Quality in any games that do, which is essentially indistinguishable from 4K DLAA, which is better than 4K TAA.

Curved monitors have a special resolution which is not compatible with some applications and games that you might need. I would suggest you avoid them. There were also these reports that spoke of eye strain caused by curved screen, but I cannot guarantee anything about that as I have never used one myself. However I know for a fact that you have to go through screen resolution mods to setup your apps and it is not worth the trouble.

curved is only nice on ultra wide screens. flat is enough.
