I have a pre build Lenovo desktop here without motherboard fan speed control. Any fan controllers that I can use to change the speed of the CPU fan? Currently eyeing the>Corsair Commander CORE XTbut this seems relatively expensive to just change the fan speeds. The problem is that the CPU fan ramps up at about 85 degrees Celsius, but nothing happens before it so the curve is fucked. I cannot change it in the BIOS or otherwise, and Fan Control does not recognize the motherboard controller, so I need a dedicated controller.
>>107959588Does the Lenovo have fan speed controls in the BIOS? Do you know which fan controller is being used on the mainboard?https://www.techspot.com/downloads/7419-fancontrol/similar/
>>107959551They also fucked up the Adrenaline control panel its more buggy than before. It either randomly closes or just shows nothing. A workaround is to install the panel from the MS Store because its older but it works.

>>107959607>Does the Lenovo have fan speed controls in the BIOS?Nope, none whatsoever. I'll try some other tools but Fan Control only sees the GPU fan. There is nothing else recognized, not the CPU fan nor the intakes/exhaust (although those are fine as it stands).

Is it still worth buying a PSU tester to check if the PSU turns on and doesn't spark before you plug it in to other components?
Dear former fellow waitfags.I am sorry to inform you that I ordered a marked down 9070xt. You can consider this a betrayal, but I really did not intend to betray you. Apparently my case supports vertical mounting of my GPU.it's a Fractal Define 7 XL.Any good riser cable suggestions? Everything seems hit and miss on Amazon. Also, is it really beneficial to mount vertical? Better life of fans and less prone to damage the mobo and GPU PCB?
>>107960460probably not. those aren't exactly flying off the shelves anyway, just get it when the roads thaw.
>>107960455A prebuilt from Microcenter is your best option.
>>107960511if you have a heavy gpu, vertical mounting is just the best solution to ensure there's no bending and chip separation/damage. Even anti-sag brackets can cause pcb twisting or reverse sag in some cases. The downsides come if your cooler uses a vapor chamber, you can lose up to 10c of performance. It's a real meme and a half since said vapor chambers are only shaving 1-3c off of a normal coldplate. Look into your model's cooler before you decide to go vertical. Or just lay your pc on its side to simulate a vertical mount and test the temps.

>>107960470there is a home server general.but if you intend to use this PC as a PC with gaming, good server PC's are bad gaming PC's, and your requirements don't require home server CPU / mobo. The only thing that I know people use servers for, is LLM AI server (which doesn't need a xeon/epyc mobo because inference doesn't need pcie bandwidth, BUT the mobo is a fraction of the cost of a 5090 so why not), and storing files (which a n100 from aliexpress could do, lower power = cheaper, you want something that doesn't idle with lots of watts).By the way, USB4 slots work as nvme pcie gen 3 drives if you buy an $50~ adapter (maiwo is the one brand that supports usb4, I don't know if anything better is out). Note that just because it's ~3000MB/s, doesn't mean big copies are slow if you have a SSD that can sustain write speeds for a long time, since some SSD's will not hold their advertised top speeds for long (you can see pcpartpicker benchmarks sometimes).Intel and AMD have basically the same IO. Intel is very slightly better in IO (you will not hit the bottleneck, it doesn't matter), but AMD is better in terms of gaming because the 9800x3d is just better for a few console port benchmark games. If you want the fastest network connection imaginable, you could get one of those Nvidia DGX spark pc's (no windows however). It's really stupid to buy it for not AI, but the connector is 200GBe, which is pretty fast. But to connect it to a normal PC, you need a pcie adapter that costs $1000+.

I daily drive windows but I still don't understand braindead YouTubers. I somehow was managing running slackware as a novice Linux user in 2009 while in my 20s on various testbeds while working as an intern for a major hard drive company. Do these people actively delete or fuck with their dependencies? This is why you run a live environment first to test and try out things, and make sure (if you're a novice/new) no other storage is attached when you're running the environment (unless you don't mind fixing with it).Linux reminds me of woodworking. You don't hand someone new a power tool until they master the chisel and file and sandpaper.

>>107961207>96gb ramwelcome to the club brother>I head DDR5 memory runs hots and would benefit from jerry rigging a minicooler on it.Generally more of a concern with liquid cooling, your U12A should be sufficient airflow for the memory, but yeah they do make dedicated ram fans or you can use zip ties to strap a fan that blows directly onto the memory. In practice it really isn't going to matter unless you like running P95 Large FFTs all the time and/or your pc is a hotbox with no airflow. You've got an O11 Dynamic though, assuming you've kitted out all the fan slots, it's going to be cold as a cucumber in there anyway.>And will this PSU connect to multiple HDDS?I checked that power supply's pin-out and i see SATA power so there should be included cables for SATA power. We will survive WW3 with our builds.idk about the 011d "specifically", but im using one of the 849043785 clones of that exact case many other companies have made since it was such a successful design so i know the same wisdom should apply. You'll want three intakes on the side; it's best to put a radiator here if you have one. Three intakes on the bottom feed cool air directly to your gpu so that's a no-brainer. Three exhausts on top, and one rear exhaust, all drawing hot air away from cpu/gpu. You'll have a torrential amount of air flowing through keeping the inside of the case from ever getting hot, as well as good positive pressure..Lots of these are optional but if you want to go full tilt that's how you do it. You could realistically forego the side intake and top exhaust entirely, especially since you're on air cooling.
>>107961488yeah sure but on the other hand you have DLSS and dynamic frame generationif the GPU is performant enough to saturate 1440p, then doesn't it kind of go to waste in some sense (and even more with a gpu upgrade, though I'm not doing that for a years)

You can still get good antialiasing with low blur on a 1440p monitor by using 4K DLDSR and DLSS in conjunction. 4K is essentially the best you need on desktop unless you have hawk vision. With a 5070 Ti, you can run 4K full res in anything that doesn't have DLSS, and DLSS Quality in any games that do, which is essentially indistinguishable from 4K DLAA, which is better than 4K TAA.

>>107961207>>107961275>>107961354>yes hello i would like (2^5 + 2^6),000,000,000 bytes of RAMpig disgusting number
>>107962579get on with the times gramps, its the age of non-binarism
>>107962572Sorry I meant the difference in refresh rates if both were OLEDs.
>>107962587>non-binarismfucking gay. the future is gay.
>>107962592gay means happy so gay is good
>>107962599spray the gay away with an ak
>>107962364prices will stay high and eventually this will be seen as the new normalin a few years you'll have people saying that because of inflation the prices they're paying are good by historic standards and post a cope chart
>>107962572>OLED is always worth itwould you say OLED was worth it if it lead to COMMUNISM??
>>107962618this won't be the new normal. once there is room for prices to drop, companies will naturally start to gradually undercut each-other in price until they fall back down to acceptable levels.
>>107962629i only buy from china because i want to support americas adversary. they are no better than them. so they might as well fuck each other over for all i care.
>>107962611
>>107962637>americas adversarykek rent free.Yuropoor or turdie?
>>107962630Ah just like what has happened with other goods oh wait
>>107962629>lead to COMMUNISMGood. A corrupt communist government would lead to massive pogroms and genocides which we desperately need in this booming population.
>>107962673if they weren't you guys wouldn't always bitch about them. like who gives a shit about china.
>>107962589Dude... refresh rates are a meme. Unless you play demanding multiplayer shooters, there is no need to go beyond 240hz, hell I would say even 120hz is sufficient. I mean my eyes can perceive the motion without any error.
>>107962681Thanks, what about curved monitors? I'm hesitating between the msi 321CUP and 321UP. Both 4k165hz QD-OLEDs
erm why is my desktop a subfolder of onedrive
>>107962675yes, graphics cards and power supplies came back down in price after the crypto boom died down. eggs are down. gas prices are down. toilet paper and hand sanitizer prices are back down after COVID. these things come and go, anon. stop being a doomer
>>107962715because you are using a shit desktop os. user error.
>>107962707Curved monitors have a special resolution which is not compatible with some applications and games that you might need. I would suggest you avoid them. There were also these reports that spoke of eye strain caused by curved screen, but I cannot guarantee anything about that as I have never used one myself. However I know for a fact that you have to go through screen resolution mods to setup your apps and it is not worth the trouble.
>>107962707curved is only nice on ultra wide screens. flat is enough.
Somebody bake another thread
>>107962733Curved monitors are actually easier on the eyes imo. I've using curved for around 8 years but for anything 27" or smaller, flat is fine. It's less strain on my eyes using my curved monitor at home on days I wfh vs the days I work in the office with 2 flat screens.
>>107962743okdokey>>107962758>>107962758>>107962758
>>107962719>stop being a doomerNo.I'll concede prices are cyclical, but even if 2030 rolls around and our DDR6 is not inside, I dont believe for a minute that the landscape will be anything like today. To continue the analogy form before, I would expect these parts to be more like subway or McDonald's than eggs. The 5 dollar footling and dollar menu are toast.
>>107962572i have it too, i jumped from 1440p ips to 4k oled and its about the same as 27 inch 1440p but the change of colors for oled is insane
>>107960003same, was gonna wait til RTX 6000 and DDR6 but got fomo and upgraded my PSU (650-1000) MOBO (b450-x570) and GPU (3080-9070 xt) and im gonna get the remanufactured 5800x3d when that comes out (again) later this year
God I love pc tards who have no existing knowledge. Just sold a 4 core gaming pc for 370 usd, i7, 32 gig ddr3, gtx 1080 (normal) with a brand new case. Cost me 190 usd lmao I will be eating good today. Will sell another one soon
>>107959131TURN IT OFF YOU MORON
>>107963881>I will be eating good todayso you are brown?
>>107963896Nah this is a side gig for me. I do work a minimum wage job in yurop tho ever
Why do I care about display port 2.1 again? (If I can't run my games at 240hz anyways)
