AM5 I think is more suspectible to the negatives of running single channel DDR5 compared to intel. Also the Gigabyte B650M Gaming WIFI seems to be a two slot motherboard. So yeah go for a 16gb stick then I guess. Though really save up for an another 16gb in the future. Going 2x8gb is not an option with that mb.

I know the other anon warns against mixing ram. But I can say my experiences with it have been good. Never had problems mixing ram. Though disclaimer I have only mixed JDEC DDR5. I have mixed higher speed DDR3 and DDR4 and had success. But I haven't mixed high speed DDR5.

The Antec cooler will keep it cool enough until the AIO arrives. For example the Thermalright 120 Assasin X which I think is a worse cooler keeps the 7800X3D under 80 degrees. And the 7800X3D gets hotter than 9800X3D.

For my new PC I'm going 4K and buying the KTC M27P6.

People will cope and say 1440p is the "sweetspot" but its really not. Even 1440p 24" is only like 58 PPD. They will say 4K is a waste, but it's not. It's 1.5x more pixels and has way more detail in trees, and small details in game. Once you go 4K you never go back, Same with OLED/MiniLED levels of contrast and color, same with high refresh rate from 60hz.

The human eye can see past 60 PPD in detail, actually up to 90 PPD at 26" where it's noticeable.

I will buy a 9070XT right now, and then buy the next high end GPU that AMD releases for $1000+ and pay the $400 difference when it comes out.

All the UE5 slop games require upscaling and on 4K upscaling looks better with FSR4 than native 1440p because there's a ton of detail.

A lot of games require upscaling anyways so if I have the option of playing 4K at 75fps with FSR4 quality or 80fps 1440p native in E33 or Oblivion Remastered I'm choosing 4K every time because there's more way detail.

And most games are not that demanding most games will run at 144fps+ if its not UE5 and I play a lot of indies.

Even though 4K GPU's aren't as powerful as many people would like these days, they will be soon so just go with 4K.

All games require some form of upscaling these days either in the form of DLAA, FSR Native AA, FSR4 Quality for performance or AA. Having a 4K monitor increases detail greatly compared to 1440p when using upscaling. I mean 4K with upscaling benefits the absolute most where you dont notice it.

Resolution used to be really important, no 4K makes more sense. 4K still isn't good, but that's not a problem of the resolution, just the new GPU's havent released besides 5090, and no one wants to buy a 5090 and pay scamvidia $5000 when a 9070XT is $600 and the new AMD 9080XT is going to be $1100 on launch and slightly below 5090 performance

AMD anons, what the fuck is up with AMD's GPU driver stability? Whether on 26.1.1 or 25.12.1, I keep getting insane shader cache corruption and driver crashes. Massive stutter and frame dips (unrelated to thermals/voltage, etc) in both the desktop and in games. Only resolved by fully clearing the shader cache or using DDU to fresh install drivers, and it may or may not be fine until the next boot if that fixes it at all.

Using a 9070 XT for reference; what the fuck can I do? All I can think of is rolling back even further to 25.9.2, even though that may just do the same shit and doesn't have FSR 4 support. I've tried everything from fresh installs, shader cache resets, using stock voltages, and so on. I'm lost as to where to proceed. My drivers on the 7900 XT were NEVER this bad, fuck.

An Atx 3.1 PSU with a 12V-2x6 slot on it is vastly inferior to the 3.0 ones that use traditional 8pins the the 12V cable is exactly the same it's just the slot that's changed but still vastly inferior safety standards compared to the old ones whenever you see a slot melting on the psu side it the 12v one never the 8pin so you're much better off using 2x8 to 12 cable than the 12 to 12 and the new atx 3.1 slightly reduced the hold-up time requirement from 17ms to 12ms which is a step backward

By having both drives in the bottom two slots, they're sharing the same connection to the CPU, a single PCIe 4.0 x4 connection, meaning if you want to read/write to/from one of those drives to the other, they're essentially fighting for the same bandwidth.

If you have 1 drive in the top slot, and then 1 drive in the 3rd or 4th slot, the top drive gets a full PCIe 5.0 x4 link to the CPU, and the 3rd or 4th slot gets its own PCIe 4.0 x4 link that it's now no longer sharing so it gets it all uncontested.


tldr; move the drive.

Pic related, you can see how slot 3 and 4 both connect to a different chipset, but those chipsets BOTH share the same connection back to the CPU.

The top slot doesn't share that connection.

I did set the fan curve for the radiator to the Arctic published 0db mode, using a 9950X3D all runs within tempt specs no matter the load. It's my first AIO, my prior watercooling experience was DIY in the AthlonXP days, so was an airhead for a long time.

Maybe some anons can actually suggest reasonable edits to the OP?

It's not intuitive, but it's showing what frequency you can expect out of the combination of dimms. When the b550 pro4 came out it was targeting Ryzen 3, which is finnicky with using all four ram slots, hence the highest "official" speed for all four slots there being 2933. Ryzen 5 doesn't have this problem and actually runs better with four slots, so you should be able to XMP with no issues.

We don't know as of they release they will probably be at whatever price people are willing to pay. Of thats the case then expect everybody to attempt to offload their 50 series cards when the new 60 series comes out.

People that are buying these cards and sucking up memory for data centers will update their tech even if that means they don't have enough resources to continue running their old hardware. So they may try and offload it. I wouldn't be suprised if we see people ripping vram out of old datacenter chips and soldering them on to the newer datacenter tech. Is this single sided M2 supposed to be slightly beveled or should I remove the pad underneath? I was instructed to leave it on if single sided but I have my doubts.

I'm leaning towards just taking it off.
This is my first NVME experience so no bully.

I'm getting the impression that buying separate parts rather than buying whole desktops gets you way worse value on the used/flip market

Some people really have no clue what they are selling if it's a whole PC, when it comes to components, the prices are always insane I guess because the people know what they are selling

Are you using a water cooler or is it a standard fan? Looking at the first picture I think it may have been the pad beneath causing that bend, not giving the NVME the space it needs so to speak.

Speaking of which - install AMD CPU before or after I remove its OEM/default heatsink standoffs?

I did remove the bottom/pad and now it sits flush. Thank goodness it was only a few minutes but lesson learned.

Its really difficult to explain simple things without going into ludicrous amounts of detail. A conversation is rarely enough time to teach anything or pass on any technical knowledge. Theres a reason teachers have to take courses just on teaching itself.

Next is the CPU cooler standoffs and then the paste and cooler.

Gonna need to have a snack before that. I'm a big guy with anxiety. No, sadly alcohol does not help.

nothing has changed as far as the AM5 development, they will likely still launch Zen6 late this year/early next year and Zen 7 in early 2028.
the sales of Zen5 will be affected because nobody can buy ram, which is why they're moving to try to re-release X3D on AM4 so there's some money coming in from DIY and consumer.
RDNA 5 is completely fucked by the GDDR7 and LPDDR5 shortage and likely wont launch until mid-late next year now.

I made a few retarded posts about my seasonic focus gx 850 from 2022 and my inno 5070ti earlier today
the 5070ti came with a 2x8pin to 12v-2x6 adapter so it only supports 300w (non-peaks) right now (also most other 5070ti come with a 3x8pin adapter so 450w)
anyway I thought I could just buy the "official" seasonic backwards compatible 2x8pin to 12v-2x6 cable which would go directly from psu to gpu -> 600W
or even the older 2x8pin to 12vhpwr (no 2x6) cable, also 600w
but as it turns out my PSU isn't even atx3.0 so I don't wanna risk this shit and fry my 5070ti somehow
also the cables are not available anywhere over here and I'm not buying offbrand shit
so I bought a corsair rmx850
maybe I can sell the seasonic for like 50 bucks on ebay so this will only cost me 100 bucks

Well that explains it, I'm fairly sure then that RM1000e was a 2.x ATX? probably also maybe a reason why it wasn't exactly balancing well because it expected the older cards with separate 8 pins to manage the load (or having PCIE 1 connector to have more load like the CPU power 1 & 2 ports on mobos)
