Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.

>I'm in Germany. From what I've researched, I think Harbor Freight has cheaper stuff than our tool shops.
>tool shops
Do you really have a tool shop accessible to you (Werkzeugfachgeschäft) that sells to non-businesses and is open at times a working man can visit it? In this case, you'll pay a lot, but you might even get gut stuff with proper Beratung.
Or did you ESL Baumarkt? In that case: The first rule of Baumarkting: Don't go to OBI, unless you absolutely have to or you know what you're doing. The second rule of Baumarkting: Always do the opposite of what the sales clerk tells you! But seriously, you never know if you asked that one dude in the whole shop who knows his shit, if someone just memorized a box or if it's even malicious "leave me alone, I got some masturbating to do behind that stack of niceeeeee organic fertilizer!"-kind of advice.
Other than that, you're on your own, I have long ascended way above Baumarkt (I just spend another 200€ on some specialized shops. Again. Please send help!).

Oldschool, Euro Zimmermannswinkel or anglo speed square?
Ironically, it seems like chink speed sqares are more expensive on amazon, than an USA made Milwaukee one (which is hilarious, since they're owned by the chinese and do almost everything in china) at gotools.de (shipping, though).

received a nanovna saa-2 today, that i got from ebay for $50 with free shipping (seller cancelled listing right after i bought it, so maybe it was a price mistake). its the smaller sma plugs version, but it was cheap, and i really have no need for this, other than testing an wifi or rf antenna maybe once a year to see if they match the specs, but i guess now i can check where cables are broken (maybe, rf is kinda black black magic to me. im a dc fag, anything ac above the support range of my scope, ~150mhz, is completely outside of my interest).
its basically pic related but it also included the same stylus that usually acompanies the esp32-cheap-yellow-display and is much better to use than the modified guitar pick.
i openned it up and there seems to be a shielding can on each of the pcb sections that can have it, on both sides. saw some versions online that had only one can and some neither even (my guess is that it would make the crosstalk between chips a lot worse? idk, the outside case is all metal so im not sure if calibrating every time its used would not be enough to mitigate most of the issues).
the firmware info page claims that there is fpu support, not sure if thats normal, since this shit is using a low end stm32 clone chip, the fpu is mos likely irrelevant.
there is opensouce software to use/control this from a pc, and its handier than using the fucking interface clusterfuck on the device (but given the size of the thing i dont see how it could be better).
thanks for reading my blog post

i am pretty sure that base is not the one i would want, unless it can be hacked to be used with and rtk corrections, i am close enough to a public base station to have a precision around 3.5cm, good enough for what i do

All chink controllers have bad batches that make it to sellers. They're usually the minority, but it's always a risk you're taking.
Personally I've had the worst experiences with 8Bitdo. My Gulikit Elves 2 has a rattling R2 button, but no other problems. Strictly good experiences with Gamesir, Flydigi, and Mobapad, but I've seen other people have issues with all three of those too.

if for a small place like a closet, or a larger one that has no humanoids/creatures on it ever, you can get one of those absortion powders that "melts" into liquid as it absorves water from the air.
for a alrger space or a room where animals spend some time in you definitely want to get a compressor based one. these are rated in how many water they can extract from the air each day (which relates to how big the machine is), but dont expect those numbers, those are edge case scenarios

Any good carry-on luggage for planes? Ideally something good enough that won't break bank, is NOT plastic shit that can't be compressed nor extended, has at least two wheels and, surely this must exist, can be transported either as a regular wheeled one or as a backpack, 2-in-1.

Chinese buying culture involves a lot of talking. We will look around for reviews and stuff then order online anonymously. They will chat to the seller on weixin and ask for pics and stuff.
They also have a lazy-but-long-day office culture like japan/korea. The office worker sellers jobs are to talk to customers, sometimes cold calling but also a lot of chatting like this. She could be real and just bored / need to look like she's doing something.

I used to know a girl that worked like that (knew her from tk), she added me on her work wx, when she quit another worker got the account and she still sends me product listings.
>>
>>108047890
...but why
>>
>>108045699
There's many options but just buy the cheapest solid feeling one irl desu. Too big and low tech it make sense to ship from china, I think.
>s NOT plastic shit that can't be compressed
plastic is the best option (although frame+fabric isnt that bad), metal is too heavy. You want it to flex a bit and dent, it's better than cracking.
>transported either as a regular wheeled one or as a backpack, 2-in-1.
There is but it's not a very good idea, it won't be very good at either. You're not going to want to use it as a backpack.

But actually for carry-on you don't need it to be strong at all, a soft bag is fine. You only need checked luggage to be solid since it will be on conveyor belts and thrown around by staff.

it may seem like mixed spawn boxes only gives one item but i reckon it's still 55~60% cups to utensils until level 8 where it's 50-50.
if you need utensils, max the spawn box to lv8 ASAP, but until then you have to pay attention to the order
if it's asking for a high level utensil item like a knife and you're only on a lv5 spawn box, you might want to refresh that order.
otherwise, you keep spawning from that box and putting the dishes into storage while working towards that knife.

Can I buy a machinist/engineers square off aliexpress?
Ironically, my "local" trusted tool store, has some no-name one, where one of the reviews says the end is off by a few mm, and I probably don't need to tell you why that's very bad with such a thing.
And I mostly need it as a kind of ground-truth for woodworking stuff, so I don't need micrometer precision as a proper machinist would, but a few mm off in such a small thing? Yeah, no.

I’ll admit, I’m no machinist, but how do you adjust those? The knows I know are fixed as can be, which is kinda their whole point.
I know the trick how to check if they’re square, but if they aren’t, that’s probably gonna be a rather awkward chat with Chang for the refund.
>>
>>108049520
If you dont want to pay for shipping, then choice is what you want.
You have three options:
>Choice: buy things for $10 for free shipping
>Bundle: buy 3+ things for free shipping
>Pay 3-4 bucks for shipping (can be free on $20+ items)

Choice is the best, you just have to wait until there's more stuff you want (remember to use coupons too). Bundle is alright, you can pick some $1 things.

Let's say I sell something at nominally $100 but reduce it to $80 on "sale" every day except Tuesdays.
Eventually you would stop thinking about it that way and start seeing it as "anon's shit is $80, except on Tuesdays when it's an extra $20 for no reason".
In the UK there was a sofa company that worked this way. Near-perpetual sales with occasional legally-required periods at full price during which everyone knew not to buy anything.

These were marketed as "sensible" because they had, even at the time, pretty shit specs. Their selling point was a reasonable price point to go with it. Think lower mid-market tablet.
Anyways they were pretty shit even at the time, these days they are, unless you run a very lean software stack, borderline e-waste.
Might be enough for tachiyomi or shit like that, or use it for some DIY project, but normal tablet use will probably be too much.

a soldering iron is a nice thing to have for a lot of repairs, if you can solder. buy a nice one if you can afford it, not just sort by cheapest

as a self respecting man you SHOULD have a soldering iron at all times to do little basic electronic fixes, just like your mouse.

You should buy a new mouse, but you should just get a $5 mouse off of Amazon instead of ordering it from China and waiting three weeks for a mouse that you're going to also pay import fees on to arrive.

Don't bother with NiMH, it was always a highly flawed technology.
They are only 1.2v (should be 1.5v), not enough for everything. They also quickly self-discharge. I have lots but I don't use them cause they either give poor performance or they are discharged by the next time you want to use them.
Lithium rechargeable + alkaline for low use stuff i the best way to go.

now, how useful that rating is, is another question. maybe for one of those phones with dual/split batteries, or for a crappy laptop
>>
>>108069912
>>108069936
The more I look at the listing the more I'm convinced it's real, but not standard? I'm guessing it works with those usb a to usb c cables and it "pretends" to be usb c on the charger's end so that it can do 20V? Like it's just copper wires in a different format at the end of the day right?

Is 45W not enough power to be dangerous with usb c to usb a cables?
>>
>>108069956
you dont need usb-c to use quickcharge3, the 2 data pins on regular usb are enough to do the handshake between device and charger
>>
>>108069956
Stop guessing and just read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quick_Charge
Basically they are "overwriting" (e.g. ignoring) the limits suggested by the USB standard, as USB-A shouldn't work for those power ratings. For as retarded as it is from a design standpoint in my opinion, it works just fine.
However, and that's the big deal, your device needs to be QC compatible.
And that's not the same as PD (the USB power delivery standard).

>leave for years and forget

I see, I didn't realize QC was a proprietary thing, I thought it just meant "faster than 15W" which I thought was only possible with usb c, but now it makes sense, so basically it's proprietary and it'll only work if the devices supports QC, whereas "normal" usb c chargers will work on everything that supports usb c charging up to whatever the device allows. thank you for the information.

Alkaline suck donkey balls if you drain anything more than 50mA. Higher discharge (like 1Amp) they die at with like 500mAh (AA) drained while NimH doesn't give two shits and happily discharge until empty.
>>
>>108070052
usb-pd is also up to the device to support, which most simple/cheap thing dont as that requires an extra chip to do the voltage handshake. but it's better than qc3 since you (device manufacturer) dont have to pay royalties to do/use usb-pd, it does require a usb-c connector tho, since you need the extra cc pins for the handshake, other than that both are basically the same in the way they work
>>
>>108070052
In your defense there's little reason to know this unless you're vaguely interested/aware of the protocols or the tech behind it.
The good thing is that both of these protocols have a fallback, meaning if your device doesn't support it, it will still charge, just slowly. Usually something like 10W iirc, if you're really unlucky it'll fall back to USB-A speeds (5V, 1A for 5W). So it'll still work, but you're somewhat wasting money for a good charger if your devices can't use it.

the flux ended up being way more flux than ill ever use, for some reason I just assumed it would be the 5cc syringes, but it's actually quite large.
the keyboard supports gestures, but is completely retarded in that it combines the escape and tilde key into one, but made tilde into the default. Meaning that exiting a fullscreen requires pressing fn+tilde rather than just escape. deal breaker for an htpc controller.

>GPS based NTP time server
I always wanted to try this with the WWVB signal but I don't know how doable it actually is.
>>
>>108078959
It's stupid easy. Just get a USB to serial adapter that exposes DCD and you can connect whatever PPS source you want to it. Then it's a tiny bit of configuration to get chrony to sync to it. USB introduces some jitter but it's still way more accurate than internet NTP.

GPS is better though because it corrects for propagation delay and the modules are barely more expensive than WWVB ones.

They have millions of listings and can't verify/patrol every one proactively. Also it's trivial for a merchant to make a new shop to re-list their junk even if they get b&.
>why would the comments be positive
Paid/botted reviews and/or people who fell for the scam and don't realize the disk controller only has X GB to work with and will over-write existing data with anything else you save.
