With the Thermalright products, you get what you pay for (which is to say the draw of the hat as to the quality as is usual for China).>>108033465Dust and wires? Why would this cause such an unpleasant noise profile? It doesn't speak well for the Phantom Spirit as a product reliability-wise when even in the glazing reviews that big channels gave it (while neglecting the Pure Rock Pro 3) still mention the quality control issue with the fans and their unpleasant noise profile. I would also not trust that simply swapping over to be quiet! or Noctua fans would solve the issue due to heatsinks being designed around proprietary company fans. Even the Noctua fans perform worse than the stock fans on the Thermalright cooler. The Pure Rock Pro 3 here can be theorized as a safer purchase quality-wise than the Phantom Spirit 120. Especially if you are buying a Pure Base 600, it seems like madness! The Pure Base 600 and the Pure Rock Pro 3 is such an obvious synergy! Especially since you get 4 Pure Wings fans out of the combination instead of dubious Chinese fans tainting the noise profile of your be quiet! case.

>>108035857realistically thats all it needs to bethe less angry tldr is that trackmania sunrise is one of my favorite games, but it has some awful DRM called starforce or whatever that basically leaves it only functional on windows XP (because the drm just doesnt work on XP)If you run it on vista/7/8 or 8.1 it will brick your windows install and you gotta repair itBut theres a community repack that works with 10 that doesnt have any of thatSo i needed a machine that ran windows 10 and i had the leftovers from dumping all my modern hardware, picked up the 300T and 8gb of ram on ebay, put the 1010 in there i keep around for the lulzAnd it does trackmania sunrise in 1600x1200 at maximum settings perfectly, it looks beautifulive already got it set up to turn on and just autorun tmsunrise, its effectively a trackmania consoleif anyone hasnt played tmsunrise its on myabandonware now, its a great racing game, remember to change your settings after you launch it though because its arrow keys by default

I plan on putting in a ~$80 PSU in it and a sub-$100 GPU in it (might go above that if necessary). Not sure what case, fans, or cooler to use (assuming the stock cooler is not sufficient for my use case, and that the case I choose doesn't come with fans). I plan on using it for amateur Blender animations/modeling (hence why the stock cooler may not be sufficient), and pre-2020 games. I just need something to get me through these price hikes. I don't know if I should act now before prices go insane, or if I should hold on, save up, and buy something better. I don't know what to expect prices to be a few weeks from now; CPU and GPU prices are supposedly going to rise soon too.

I'm hoping for it to last for the next 5-7 years at least (like my 1060 has lasted me this long)What are the major pros/cons between a 5070 vs 9070xt?

>>1080362889070xt is faster (raw raster power) with more VRAM, even in RT due to being a bigger chip with more transistors, might lose when frame gen is involved. Better loonix support.Biggest flaw is AMD's past behavior on their driver support. 7900XTX does not have FSR4 despite being last gen flagship. Same might happen with 9070xt.
>>108036272Based.
>>108036288>5070 vs 9070xtThe 9070 XT is much faster for gaming/raster, and has more VRAM, that's not the right comparison, it's peer is the 5070 Ti instead.>5-7 years at leastThe lower end cards won't last, and AMD might retire support for RDNA4 sooner than later like they have done for generations 1-3 already. It all depends on what you do with it, if you play 1080p games at low settings and raster only, and can tolerate upscaling and frame generation as they currently are, then you should be fine.

>>108036696Familiarize yourself with the motherboard's official specsheets, like this example.https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B850-AORUS-ELITE-WIFI7-rev-1x/spThings to pay attention to are:- The number of M.2 slots and which PCIe generations they support- Number of SATA ports for SATA SSD or HDD needs.- WiFi & Bluetooth support if needed- USB connections- The PCI generation of the x16 slot for the video card (older generations can cost a new card around 2~3% performance)- Number of memory slots: if you plan to try hard overclock DDR5 memory, 2-DIMM slot boards are generally better,I'd avoid ASUS & ASRock AM5 boards because AMD is blaming board manufacturers for killing Ryzen 9000 CPUs, and these two companies have the highest reported instances of dead CPUs.

>>108038160Some people use razorblades to do that. You line it up in the column or row and press gently. I don't know about how effective it is so make sure you look up some videos and get your bearings about it before attempting it.
