The Pure Rock Pro 3 here can be theorized as a safer purchase quality-wise than the Phantom Spirit 120. Especially if you are buying a Pure Base 600, it seems like madness! 5060 Ti 16Gb: cheaper, less power draw and use a classic 8 pins cable so you might be able to save even more money by keeping your actual PSU.

It's not as absolute as "more money more power" tho because the 5060 Ti 16Gb is better for dicking around with LLM than the 5070 if you want to give that a try. Most models aim to runs on 16Gb VRAM and the 5070 falls short here because of the 12Gb limitation.

it's something with how certain nvme drives set their power states, instead of going into the lowest state it fucks itself and powers down and only a full power cycle works to make it re-appear. Those commands need to go into your bootloader config but yes it fixed it 100% for me. I had a pair of 2TB 980 Pro drives on one of my servers drop out of RAID1, So I contacted the host and he replaced the one I thought was bad with a 990 Pro instead and the same shit happened again. Updating the firmware didn't fix it, setting those flags and I've had a year of uptime with no issue now. only set the amd_iommu one if you're using AMD though as it's platform specific.

And it does trackmania sunrise in 1600x1200 at maximum settings perfectly, it looks beautiful

The former is more appealing obviously. I plan on putting in a ~$80 PSU in it and a sub-$100 GPU in it (might go above that if necessary). Not sure what case, fans, or cooler to use (assuming the stock cooler is not sufficient for my use case, and that the case I choose doesn't come with fans).

I plan on using it for amateur Blender animations/modeling (hence why the stock cooler may not be sufficient), and pre-2020 games. I just need something to get me through these price hikes.

I waffled between the 4060 and a 2080 ti for around the same price. The 2080 ti is better for Stable Diffusion. I think the 4060 is the lowest TDP of all post-1000 series desktop GPUs. I'm keeping my eye on mini-PC APUs too, but I don't think it's the right time to buy them yet. likely when they add the same chips that will be in RDNA 5 GPUs to the APUs.

I had it plugged in differently to how it wanted. This is an old new stock case I got straight out of either the late 90's or early 2000's. Its front end ports were labeled accurately and so were the mother board's but I had one in the wrong place (the power led) because there were two options for its location and the power switch itself plugged in one slot over. Got it working. I'll post a picture from my phone here in a second, though it's nothing special and a bit dirty.

And the old cardboard box it was in previously, with a handsome paint job courtesy of my friend who built it and stickers from that friend and my wife. I'll be flattening it, saving it, and putting it up as wall decoration, I think. Also several people might ought to recognize me from this so hello if so. Now I'm going to replace my windows install with linux to commemorate the occasion.

Some people use razorblades to do that. You line it up in the column or row and press gently. I don't know about how effective it is so make sure you look up some videos and get your bearings about it before attempting it.
