No I'm saying that the tilt on these towers is fairly noticeable even from a neutral position and I'm not sure if that's from the asymmetry of the design or because something is catastrophically bent somehow. This Hyper 212 is a lot straighter for example.

I am was worried for a while my thermals were compromised by uneven mounting pressure because I assumed this went down to the coldplate, but adjusting the tension on either screw seems to have no effect on the tilt.

Open airflow case temperatures went up to 70C on the 3700X in Small FFTs, though I saw a spike at one point to 80C most recently that went unexplained. This chip shouldn't go past the mid-60s regardless of paste pattern application, MX4 in this case.
>>
>>108095584
the way you install makes all the difference in the world from paste to how you tighten the screws in a pattern.

Report all flamewarring, trolling, spamming posts. Long live /pcbg/!

Post your /pcbg/ anyway but know that we have enraged the amdshitposter to the degree that he has vowed to shit up this thread with trash with the goal of killing it.

Spotting the shitposters: the shitposters may be working at gunpoint in a bot farm, paid shill/bot farm, lone schizo, etc. the shitposters rarely ever just tags the OP and asks for it to be updated or changed as asked for in the second part of the sticky. they also resort to things like ad hominem, racism, cherry picked benchmarks, false information, etc. and one of my favorite things is the lone post tagging no one but responding to some previous reply to whatever argument it felt it was losing or with a one-liner just to flood the vapid minds of the unwashed masses with <specific vendors products>. the shitposters necropost old tropes to flood the threads and bump post counts e.g. random garbage questions that any /noob/ would just google or disingenuous descriptions of problems that are copypasta with a few words changed in them. Single line, low-quality posts are often the copypasta. Most recently the OP appears to be trying a super stealth approach - creating the OP with only "subtle" alterations like "-Avoid Nvidia Due To Possible Melting Connectors & Driver Problems", and griefing /g/ by creating and self deleting the thread after a short while.

remain vigilant, /pcbg/, report in silence, and above all - have fun.

Well how about that. Something tells me this thermal paste pattern is not a coincidence, the area it was tilting towards is basically clean as you can see while the other side is still covered on both coldpate and IHS.

Looks like my X pattern the first time was actually perfect while my pea of babel here leaked out all onto the PCIE side and created air pockets. Maybe it was just bad paste application on my second attempt rather than just uneven mounting, but I will check the standoffs just to be sure.

Are they reusable? I was thinking about buying a sheet to chop up and use for my CPU and GPU from a supposedly legit seller, but I already bought 45g of MX4 a long while back. Bought had it with cleaning the paste off the AM4 socket for hours last time.

How do you tell if you got legit 7950 versus a cheap knockoff anyway?

>>
>>108095811

The point of the paste is to push the air out, by spreading it evenly you'll just trap more air when pushing the cooler onto it.
>>
>>108095931
never had air between my cpu and cooler. that's a meme. if you press it down and turn it a bit left and right it should be fine. like what is this bullshit. that's past and not some screen protector.
>>
>>108095931
the point of spreading is to wet the entire heatspreader. the dot in theory with the glass plate test spreads evenly, but with a bulky tower cooler and just two mounting screws thats not always the case, pressing the paste out towards one side while the other stays uncoated.
And on modern cpucs with chiplets thats not good. Nobody recoments the center dot anymore.
meanwhile a few tiny air bubbles dont even have measurable impact
>>
>>108095931
No matter how evenly you spread it, you can't make it any thinner than possible gaps between cooler and HS. But the thinner you get it the better even the heat transfer.

anon tip

tldr: some stuff will get dumped on the used market, so don't panic stuff that's too old.

Basically the usa is running out of electricity. the whole world, actually.

so, this basically puts pressure on older hardware that isn't efficient.

VERY FEW old things will be kept.

That's the basic situation.

also, if you are smart you'll BUY a real gas/propane generator. Even if you have plenty of money & the grid stays up, the smart grid may say "whoa, too many watts gamer girl*"

Both are 750w and I used the first one for like 1-2 years with the GPU and the second one for the rest of the 3-4 years. They're not going to both not work with a GPU they previously worked with for years at the same time.

Also the original black screen wasn't at boot but after like 4 hours of uptime.
