Report all flamewarring, trolling, spamming posts. Long live /pcbg/!

Post your /pcbg/ anyway but know that we have enraged the amdshitposter to the degree that he has vowed to shit up this thread with trash with the goal of killing it.

remain vigilant, /pcbg/, report in silence, and above all - have fun.

Spotting the shitposters: the shitposters may be working at gunpoint in a bot farm, paid shill/bot farm, lone schizo, etc. the shitposters rarely ever just tags the OP and asks for it to be updated or changed as asked for in the second part of the sticky. they also resort to things like ad hominem, racism, cherry picked benchmarks, false information, etc. and one of my favorite things is the lone post tagging no one but responding to some previous reply to whatever argument it felt it was losing or with a one-liner just to flood the vapid minds of the unwashed masses with <specific vendors products>. the shitposters necropost old tropes to flood the threads and bump post counts e.g. random garbage questions that any /noob/ would just google or disingenuous descriptions of problems that are copypasta with a few words changed in them. Single line, low-quality posts are often the copypasta. Most recently the OP appears to be trying a super stealth approach - creating the OP with only "subtle" alterations like "-Avoid Nvidia Due To Possible Melting Connectors & Driver Problems", griefing /g/ by creating and self deleting the thread after a short while, deleting the OP img, etc..

I just finished my first build, took me 6 to 7 hours, you motherfuckers told me it's eazy, it's not, and the main reason it's not is because you're worried the whole time that you're damaging a component. how quick people can allegedly build a pc is like trusting self reported dong sizes
>>
>>108150742
It's like when people talk about how fast you can change your car oil, or how quick you can brown an whole onion. It's mostly people who have no sense of time. Like the people who say "oh it will just be five minutes" and then it's thirty.
I'd still say it's "easy", but it's also easy to break something so like you said you get super nervous and start taking your time. Which is good because it'd be a real shame to suddenly have a several hundred dollar paper weight.

Makes no sense nowadays. Get a larger capacity helium filled HDD of 20+TB.
Or a 4TB SSD.

Since the display is probably just 60Hz and no particular 3D rendering is required, almost any modern card with enough frame buffer to hold the pixels would be sufficient.

>>
>>108150732
If you're going to use it for cold storage, an external will be fine. Really that's what they're best at. Sure it will most likely be SMR, and even if it is CMR they're the HDDs that didn't make the cut to sell as a normal internal, but as long as you aren't trying to run it 24/7 it should be fine. Just make sure you buy an extra as a backup.
I think some places have a Seagate Expansion 8tb for $150.
>>

it's really sad that intel is killing of their GPUs, because going full linux I am condemned to either full AMD cpu+gpu or full Intel and if Intel started making good gpus, I'd try them, I guess I'll have to suffer with AMD forever now
I'm excited for Razor Lake, the last gen before they switch to nvidia igpus, I think it'll be a great generation to upgrade home server hardware, get an APU for the servers, ECC DDR5, a few W1080 motherboards
I think the Xe3P igpu will be relevant for more than a decade

The gpu and the psu is the only brand new component from retail.
Had another kioxia nvme lying around that i put in the pc (1tb)

I seem to have won the silicon lottery on the video card , managed to get it to run 3120mhz +1700 on ramclock with only 950Mv curve lock and it never goes above 55c, tested in multiple games stable 1%lows

CPU curve optimized -20 in the negative cuz i don't like the sudden spikes of ryzen. ( no performance lost)

Ram manually overclocked to 6000mhz, cl 32 had to play around a lot with this because it defaulted to jdec 4800mhz and the expo profile would not boot. multiple stability tests and an all nighter of ycruncher came back no errors.

r8? I had future proofing in mind when putting it together with best price to performance ratio

I've been getting artifacts like these in games for the past 4 months
I tried uninstalling all windows updates all the way to 2023 when i built the PC (didn't even had that many because I use simplewall firewall)
Has a higher chance of happening when the memory usage is higher than normal I think

specs:
6700 xt
Ryzen 5600
16GB ram XPG
Windows 11
I also havent cleaned the inside of my PC since 2023 if that matters

I used to get weird green artifacts before but now I almost never get those anymore just these.

Jesus Christ I never knew exactly how much of a housefire GCN GPUs from AMD were, but now I can totally see how this card got artifacting a few years into the hot summers of the mid-2010s on default fan curves.

Either cooler and fan design or mounting got better since somehow or these old chips were that much of a furnace even with a 250W TDP, which is likely far below the actual power draw which there is no sensor for. I'd have to ramp the fan speed to 100% for it to not hit 80c in a midi mesh case with 20c ambient room temperature.

The 5080 is like $1500 right now. While you can get the 5070Ti for like $750.

i dunno just hurts knowing if I got a 5070ti it would be worth 500 more than what i paid for it as opposed to the 9070xt being worth only 100 more. I'm also realizing it's true no one values amdcrap and in a few years if i want to sell it's going to hold it's value far less than the 5070ti.

Then there's the usabilty the card is pretty much worse in all respect but the most massive is it's comparatively non-existent AI support, especially on Windows. And much less AI capability. I haven't done anything with AI yet, but that is also because when I wanted to I was told "oops yeah there's no support of AMD with AI for what I wanted to use it for on windows only on Linux"

How do I free myself from dependency hell on HDD bays and ODD bays? I got what I got, no changing it now.

>two 3.5" card reader/USB drives

>512GB NVME SSD, 256GB M.2 SSD, 512GB SATA SSD, 512GB SATA SSD, 128GB SATA SSD
This makes buying a new case for my daily driver today really fucking annoying because I have to compromise between storage options and expansion (this caps my storage), airflow (this caps how powerful I can make my computer), and noise profile (how much rattle from the HDD and fans).

I've been trying to downsize and churn out shit I don't need and limit myself to two 2.5 SSD's, the two M.2 SSD's I got, use PWM fans instead with a hub instead of manual 3-step DC fans, and 1 or 2 HDD's since it's the biggest I got but I still can't help myself. I probably should use a separate USB card reader or just dangle the naked optical drive when I sporadically need it or use a one-size fits all USB dongle for the card reader but the convenience (and speed) is something I'm too used to, a computer always had that stuff integrated for me.

But I still want to modernize instead of being stuck in 2014-2019 with legacy stuff. My brain still thinks a big tower or a HAF is the pinnacle of case design instead of an elegant wind tunnel. Never tried an LED fan either.

yes you can lower the refresh rate to whatever you want

How do I install an SSD bay in to this PC? There is a little hole that say SSD but there doesnt appear to be any other holes for the other screw. This is at the bottom of the PC.
Is the bay just supposed to hang down slanted since it's screwed in at just one place? Probably not

They're quieter and (generally) able to handle higher thermal loads.
At the cost of being more mechanically complex, expensive and taking up more space.

There's some nice fan coolers though, and some terrible AIOs. It's pretty hard to choose between them.

Any system you build can keep the CPU cool whether you use an air cooler or water cooling. It comes down to personal preference. I used only air for many years and decided to see if the AIO stuff was a meme or not because I had not used water cooling in a very long time. It works well for my use case though I am sure that I could have been happy with air cooling as well.

I can do it I think, but I'll have to fit my SSD's in somehow. Realistically in daily use I will prioritize cool and quiet operation, even with something like a 5070 and 5800X w/ a PS120.

Cases like the Frame 4000D seem like they're among the best value wind tunnel chassis for the money right now, but I'm concerned about the lack of something like a closed side panel which I would install foam onto, or dampening for the HDD cage. Though I could also perhaps just mod an old Cooler Master case, like the HAF for the same cost and get the same performance while maintaining similar compatibility, though that would take time I might not have to waste like I used to.

Looking for some recommendations for a Motherboard. Looking at a DDR4 1700 board since I already have 32g of DDR4 Ram. A 12000kf seems the way to currently go. I'm in the U.S and budget isn't as much a concern since the majority of boards seem to be in comparable ranges. Managed to snag a good deal on an 850w psu for them. Have a 4070 12gb graphics card.

Man. Sometimes I get the impression my tinkering high school/university student phase since 2019 is the root of all problems, because I'm fairly certain I have spent way more money than this (several times) only to wind up with a heap of mediocre but "good value" parts from their time period only for them to not wind up with something that is nowhere near as nice as even this. Never tasted the creature comforts of AIOs, RGBs, full-tower size high airflow, high capacity NVME SSD's, rubber grommets, and so on even though I could have afforded it.
>But you will need to buy a lot of 140mm fans
I've been doing a lot of research into those since I have an old one from some no-name brand and it does well, I was going to have a look at be quiet's offerings to see how they stack up against Arctic in terms of how they sound but haven't pulled the trigger yet with my ongoing case situation.

I'll have a look at this list, I don't use PC Part Picker enough all these years to see what other people are building. Pretty much learned everything on my own.

I'm gonna be honest, I kind of wish I took the pill on some Corsair and be quiet! or Noctua products sooner, though Corsair doesn't have that tasty purple grape jet black taste to it that they quite did with stuff like their keyboards, AIO, fans and whatnot and I hate bloat. I kind of understand why they became popular brands even if they weren't always making the best products for the money.

Oh and buying more Crucial and Sammy SSDs, though I hear Patriot had the best chances of DDR4 with Samsung b-die.
