Used ram isn't quite as pricey as new, so maybe look at that.
Make sure you have the ability to test it right there and then if you are buying in person.
Although, unfortunately a conclusive test for memory issues is usually an overnight run.
You should be able to catch very broken ram with a quick one though.

How do I stress test / check for bent pins without removing the heatsink? I'd rather not redo it as that was the most stressful.

OCCT is a decent free stress testing tool. Bent pins are a visiual inspection sort of thing, if the system is running you probably don't have any issue to worry about.

A TV may not work as well. Most (good) monitors can upscale input resolutions at the hardware level, IDK about your TV.

But do have a look to see if it /works/ for you, a 4k display is excellent for stuff other than /gayming/ and if you can afford the shekels for a good one I highly recommend it. I use a 32" 4k LCD because muh productivity but when setting up my system I tested some gayming stuff with benchmarks and found the monitor upscaling to work well.

The memory kits don't seem to be installed in the correct slots (A2 & B2), this will affect stability and performance.
Make sure you firmly slotted the memory modules in, I've read plenty of new builders here not putting enough force and it was causing boot up issues.
AM5 systems may also take 5~10 minutes to boot to BIOS for the initial memory training.

Hm, what I read online Samsung does produce annoying coil whine and Philips also, especially with the ambilight. I have a fear that all these huge 21:9 panels whine at some point. Also, high refresh rates with LCD displays are a bit of a meme. The response time, in spite of what it advertises on the box often can't keep up with the refresh rate.

The thing is, it has 38k power on hours, but it has zero bad sectors, write/read errors, etc., it seems to be in sterling health according to crystaldiskinfo. Should I be worried at all? Not flawless but it's a massive upgrade over a regular LED backlight. Contrast is greatly improved and the annoying IPS glow you see on usual IPS panels is greatly reduced by the dimming backlight. HDR looks great, it's really punchy and impressive while non-mini LED IPS panels can't actually do HDR at all (if they support it, it looks totally awful).

The local dimming works in SDR as well, you don't need HDR for it to work, and its benefits are still very visible in video games and movies. It has a bit of a problem in SDR, namely something looks wrong with the contrast of small elements on black / very dark backgrounds (they look brighter than they should be, not like there's haloing but like a shade of gray looks lighter than it should). Haven't seen this in HDR so I think it has something to do with whatever processing it's doing to use local dimming in SDR.

The haloing that local dimming monitors suffer from is only really visible in shit like desktop program UIs, especially if you have something in a dark theme with a lot of evenly colored dark grey areas, you will see some haloing around other UI elements. In games and video I never really see it at all, not in HDR and not in SDR. Still this means that it's sometimes better to turn local dimming off when you don't need it. Fortunately you can do this by sending the monitor a command over DDC/CI and as such you can make a hotkey for it, don't need to fiddle with the joystick every time.

Other than the SDR local dimming issue and the rare haloing I described I don't have anything to complain about with this screen. I bought it because it was quite cheap and my old monitor had died, so I wanted to get something quick as a replacement, but I'm actually very happy with it and don't intend to upgrade any time soon, not unless something revolutionary comes around.

I see now that I have made a mistake, I should have checked the entire be quiet! catalog first, and then bought a used Dark Base Pro 900, and replaced the glass with a solid panel for maximum silence. This case would address most of my problems with the Pure Base 600.

Can you run DLSS? If you can then it's likely that using a 4k screen with more aggressive DLSS scaling (i.e. performance rather than balanced / quality) will give you better image quality than a 1440p panel. DLSS seems to work better when it has more pixels to play with and the increased DPI of the monitor itself is also really visible. Plus you get to actually benefit from real 4k in lightweight games.

This behavior of the CPU automatically clocking itself higher depending on the power/cooling capabilities of your system is what killed normal overclocking in AMD processors back in the Zen 2 era, there's little reason to do manual overclocking as a normal user with a normal desktop since then.
