>>108197938Well damn, I can't really wait because I need that thing working again.>>108197949When I think about it, it really was quite cheap a few years back, it feels like these prices are more 'sensible' for the tech but still, I don't like it.Not sure what to do about it, except maybe I should stop being poor.
The prices will never improve a budget build is not $1800 not $1000 it's over
>>108197976>I should stop being poor>>108197906>>A /pcbg/ for every use case and budget!
IT'S OVER Okay 4chan is taking 300 gorillion years to post so I'm gonna stop the doomerposting
>>108197976Some prebuilt PCs might be cheaper than building your own ATM, look for deals that bundle the DDR5 memory.
>>108197976Buy what you can afford then.Used ram isn't quite as pricey as new, so maybe look at that.Make sure you have the ability to test it right there and then if you are buying in person.Although, unfortunately a conclusive test for memory issues is usually an overnight run.You should be able to catch very broken ram with a quick one though.
1. Due to that other novice anon building in last thread --- I failed to check if my motherboard had any bent pinsHow do I stress test / check for bent pins without removing the heatsink? I'd rather not redo it as that was the most stressful.2. Is this a good deal ? Can you even open up shitty externals anymore? I bet it's 3D TLC NAND but $50 is $50
>>108198020>Okay 4chan is taking 300 gorillion years to postI think its fixed now.
>>108198041Why check? Run some prime95, and, if it's stable, who cares?
>>108198025I'm not really wanting to build (or buy) anything new, just replace the minimum parts.I mean, one of the 8gb ram sticks is still working so I can get by but the SSD doesn't work at all so maybe I'll just go with the SSD first.>>108198037>Make sure you have the ability to test it right there and thenHow would that work? Bring a laptop that has a matching RAM specification? Thanks for the suggestions guys.
This kinda stuff is kinda pretty.
>>108198041>How do I stress test / check for bent pins without removing the heatsink?OCCT is a decent free stress testing tool. Bent pins are a visiual inspection sort of thing, if the system is running you probably don't have any issue to worry about.>probably
>>108198067Yes, or your current setup and an inverter to run it off your car. You said you had a NUC, so I doubt it draws much power.

The asus pulsar just came into stock here early it was gonna come next weekaaaaah should one try it, I have been swinging back and forth might actually be good or not
Got a refund for my ultrawide ASUS OLED monitor as it had terrible coil whine. What should I buy instead? 16:9 4k? Another ultrawide with preferably no coil whine? 16:9 with high refresh rate? I do play FPS games, but not at hardcore frames, because I prefer max graphics over some milliseconds.
>>108198124>I have an intel nuc7 i5 but the m.2 SSD and one ram stick shat the bed.Is this not (You)?
>>108198149It's very difficult to give monitor advice because it's something buyers have to experience for themselves. All you can do is do a lot of research on the monitors you're considering, and visit a display showroom to demo it if you can.

one underestimated benefit to buying 27" monitors over 32" is when returns hit and having to carry that shit to your nearest postal placelast time I boughted they really did a fucking 32" box without a carrying handle, carrying was pure cancerthink it was actually two times with two different boxes(as a eurocuck without a car)

>>108198167Yeah, I wish this shithole had an of these...>>108198190Looks like the same category as mine, qd-oled, same resolution, same refresh rate. Do you not experience any coil whine thing? The ASUS I had was like WHEEEEEZEEEEE non-stop at any refresh rate, brightness and it was fucking annoying to the point I had to send it back to service 2 times, so they offered a refund.>>108198209It's an ASUS XG34WCDG, I really like the design of these, but goddamn it's unbearable to use if you don't have headphones. How bad would it look if I lowered the resolution to 2560x1440 on a 4k one? My GPU wouldn't be able to run things in native 4k that smoothly (7800 XT).
>>108198260>How bad would it look if I lowered the resolution to 2560x1440 on a 4k one? It's not bad, actually, give it a try.

>>108198273Only my TV is 4k currently, might give it a try and see how it looks. I guess if I buy a 27 or 32" 4k monitor and set 2560x1440 it's look the same as a native 2560x1440 monitor, right? I'm totally fine with that resolution though.
>>108198225>>108198240I had to return a 32" monitor recently and it was a pain, even with a car. I swear those little cut out handles on the sides are designed to dig as hard as possible into your fingers.

>>108200361>do you own a miniled?Yes, the KTC M27P6 recommended in the OP.>how good is it?Not flawless but it's a massive upgrade over a regular LED backlight. Contrast is greatly improved and the annoying IPS glow you see on usual IPS panels is greatly reduced by the dimming backlight. HDR looks great, it's really punchy and impressive while non-mini LED IPS panels can't actually do HDR at all (if they support it, it looks totally awful). The local dimming works in SDR as well, you don't need HDR for it to work, and its benefits are still very visible in video games and movies. It has a bit of a problem in SDR, namely something looks wrong with the contrast of small elements on black / very dark backgrounds (they look brighter than they should be, not like there's haloing but like a shade of gray looks lighter than it should). Haven't seen this in HDR so I think it has something to do with whatever processing it's doing to use local dimming in SDR.The haloing that local dimming monitors suffer from is only really visible in shit like desktop program UIs, especially if you have something in a dark theme with a lot of evenly colored dark grey areas, you will see some haloing around other UI elements. In games and video I never really see it at all, not in HDR and not in SDR. Still this means that it's sometimes better to turn local dimming off when you don't need it. Fortunately you can do this by sending the monitor a command over DDC/CI and as such you can make a hotkey for it, don't need to fiddle with the joystick every time.Other than the SDR local dimming issue and the rare haloing I described I don't have anything to complain about with this screen. I bought it because it was quite cheap and my old monitor had died, so I wanted to get something quick as a replacement, but I'm actually very happy with it and don't intend to upgrade any time soon, not unless something revolutionary comes around.
I see now that I have made a mistake, I should have checked the entire be quiet! catalog first, and then bought a used Dark Base Pro 900, and replaced the glass with a solid panel for maximum silence. This case would address most of my problems with the Pure Base 600.
>>108200361>too weak for 4k.Can you run DLSS? If you can then it's likely that using a 4k screen with more aggressive DLSS scaling (i.e. performance rather than balanced / quality) will give you better image quality than a 1440p panel. DLSS seems to work better when it has more pixels to play with and the increased DPI of the monitor itself is also really visible. Plus you get to actually benefit from real 4k in lightweight games.

>>1082007645.6GHz is turbo boost that only applies at intensive single-threaded scenarios, for multi-threaded workloads the base (as in, minimum clock in those situations) is 4.7GHz. However, due to the variable clock nature of the Zen 5 architecture, depending on how good your cooling situation is, it will clock higher than 4.7GHz even in multi-threaded scenarios. That base is defined as in "anything below this is considered thermal throttling".

It's either extreme overclocking or nothing these days.
