I'm a software dev directly at a German car manufactor. Almost 10 years already. I have a wife and two kids. Despite the market being a bit bad right now it still feels like very safe job. Nothing to really worry about. 35h week. Job is chill but annoying at times. 1-2 days work from home only per week which is meh. Payment is average. Good in German terms but probably half of which I would get at an American company. But still I go to sleep without any worrying in my stomach.This leads me to my question. I see job offers poping up like from Github. Fully remote from Germany. I would imagine better payment and all. Probably a more fun job. And communicating with Americans which I always enjoy. However, for that I have to leave that very safe job environment that I'm in right now. I'm sure that lay-offs are much more likely in those US tech companies compared to where I work now. On the other hand payment could be twice at much. What do you think? Of course I'm roleplaying as someone who has a job offer.
