I'm starting to get really burnt out of dealing with my companies and vendors and I'm trying to figure out the best way to cope. Semi related to this >>108345948 (You)
That guy responded back after a constant 4 email back and forth and it was just "Can you provide a test sample?", "ok here", "so what happens when you try it", (I just fucking told you) "it does this", "can you try it again?", "yeah same thing.", "can you please create a new test sample and then try it again?" Holy shit this shit actually fucking pissing me off. Our internal teams are no better, I've got a ticket for our internal outsource team to figure out an issue why some stuff isn't working and they can't even pinpoint what team is responsible for it, Team X comes back to me and says "who should this go to?????" and I'm like BITCH I OPENED THE TICKET FOR YOU TO FIND OUT then Team Y comes and goes nope not ours idk whose is it, then it somehow goes to my team and I'm like DUDE OUR TEAM OPENED THIS TICKET WHY THE HELL WOULD IT BE IN OUR BOAT? Fuck dude. What's the best way to deal with this shit?
It doesn't help that new things keep breaking every day and there's so much additional throwaway from my boss going "idk open a ticket I guess".

The worst thing about AI is that it’s mandatory to use. No one forced us to use IDE when it was developed to increase productivity, the key metric was how good one can deliver.

AI is different. Some introduce quote for AI generated committed code or (my company) token usage threshold. I cannot imagine more crazy bullshit than that.

I would use AI w/o being forced for:

- shell/python script generation for lightweight automation

- tests

- boilerplate (this is questionable though, if there too much boilerplate probably there’s a code smell)

- initial code review, like ask AI to review first then review yourself

But damn, they ask to generate business critical code with AI. It might be very nuanced and it’s simply more efficient to write it yourself rather then spend a lot of time on writing prompt and reviewing it

New grad and got another offer paying about 15% more with a slightly more recognisable name. Not sure about the project wise but both are SWE so don't think it matters much.

Honestly, I wish I were on the engineering team so I could stop using AI for everything. My workflow is basically doing my tasks while AI writes scripts to automate things for me in the background, so I can handle two to five tasks that all need to be done right now. Lucky that AI is pretty good at one shotting 60–500 lines of bash or python scripts, but the downside is that most of the scripts end up being disposable garbage and I don’t want to spend time fixing them since the only time I could do that is after work

Someone I knew from uni got onto a 40 under 40 list for our uni. We have a very similar career trajectory, but mine is more impressive. I am definitely not worthy of being on a 40 under 40 list as a senior dev at faang, and neither is she as one of the endless product managers in a giant company. All this tells me is these lists mean nothing except those people are narcissists willing to nominate themselves
