What features will come on 9070 xt depends on is the hardware there for it, and is there not going to be any special accelerators in the next gen gpus

Hi, /pcbg/, my brother in law handed me down one of his old pcs. He said it stopped turning on and believes it needs a new power supply. I'm not tech savvy on this matter and asking for a little help.

CPU is AMD 6300 GPU is Radeon 7800

Can anyone recommend a power supply for this?

you could in principle take the gpu and put that in a new pc to create a mid gaming pc but nows very expensive time to buy new mobo, ram, ssd etc.

without cpu upgrade its overall pointless

any 500/600/650watt psu should work, but go buy a used one, because you might need proprietary cables that no longer exist.

Also it could be the motherboard that died, not even the psu. Or the psu dying also killed the motherboard. If you have a spare psu to test with, or know someone who does, i'd use that first.

my pc isnt getting as good of frames as it should be and idk what the issue is. ive confirmed all the usual. xmp is on at 3200. displayport in gpu. bios updated. graphics drivers updated. but for some reason i get suboptimal fps in games and get bad 1% lows. cpu is working at 4.9mhz speed. ram works at 3200mhz. gpu and cpu health is good no thermal throttling of any sort. cpu ring ratio is at 40. windows power scheduler set to high performance.
my specs are:
Intel Core i9-12900K
MSI PRO B760-P WIFI DDR4
aio cpu cooler
zotac 5070ti sff
was on 64gb cl22 ddr4 ram but switched to my old 32g cl16 ram which kind of helped.
alienware 1440p gsync monitor

in games like csgo i get like 180-300 fps. cs2 its like 250-450 with a lot of fluctuations. fortnite is at like 140. tarkov is like 110.
my buddy says i should be getting more frames and that he gets more than me with a 4060 and some okay amd cpu and from what i look up online it seems like i should be getting more. ive tried alot of settings and its only helpd by a little bit. any anons got tips on what i should do?

I have an old 850W EVGA Supernova G3 purchased around its release date in 2017 (heavy usage, mostly gaming, since then). I was thinking of upgrading my graphics card to a 9070XT, but I know that PSUs degrade over time and that newer cards have bad transient spikes. Also iirc EVGA is dead now. Should I replace the old PSU for the 9070XT as well?

Antec Flux vs Lain Li Lancool 207?
Flux
- wood looks nice
207
- built in gpu sag support
- kinda boring looking
- cable routing issues?
- I like how the bottom fans are sunken into the psu "shroud" area, rather than just sitting on top like the flux

They are almost exactly the same price in my country ($165 nzd = ~$95 usd, tax included). I'm leaning towards the 207 unless someone tells me the cable routing really is that bad.

I got a 14600K recently and while my computer's thankfully running, I'm also noticing that spicy bitch is just chilling at 100c when the computer's idle or when I'm doing some basic internet browsing. I haven't had too much time to fuck around with it because of work so I'll ask here.

What kinda settings should I mess around with in the BIOS to help resolve it? I've set lite load to Mode 1 for right now and I already have the BIOS update for 13th/14th gen. It seems like the BIOS update changed a lot of shit and by default it made my 14600K set to Mode 18 for some reason, which was just insane.

And it's shown to be better than FSR 3 even at lower resolutions than for example an Xbox Series S version of a game running at 720p with FSR3.

Because Intel was able to start with a clean slate when they were planning the feature set of their Arc GPUs.
Their real work started after NVIDIA's Turing GPUs released in late 2018. RDNA3's MCM GPU R&D began around late 2017.
It's too costly to make major chip design changes once development's started.
AMD underestimated how quickly DLSS models would improve, because DLSS1 was genuinely atrocious.

I'm optimistic about next generation being a good uplift from both companies. we should have the new hardware in late 2027.

And now what do we get? REDSTONE is abandoned as everything is moving onto FSR DIAMOND and RDNA4 will not be able to use any features in FSR DIAMOND

Aslong as nvidia refuses to touch x86 production they'll be stuck handing chops to othe companies. Even amd doesn't actually bother in actual products.

Both nvidia and amd rely on other companies to actually manufacture product using their chips. Same goes for sticking shit into consoles and calling it "nvidia" or "amd".

I wanted a 4k blu ray movie collection but don't want to pay for overpriced movies, so I'm looking into just burning my own blu rays, buying blank cases and printing the covers myself.

I can't seem to find the answer to one of my questions though, do I really need a 100GB BLURAY XL burner? Couldn't I just compress the movies and settle for 25gb discs? Obviously the quality would be lesser, but would it be that much of a difference?

It's not about NVIDIA's refusal, they want to make X86 CPUs.
Good guys Intel & AMD wouldn't let NVIDIA join their exclusive club.
To give you guys a little history lesson, AMD got access to Intel's x86 instruction set in 1982 because IBM demanded a second source supplier of these chips to keep Intel honest and spread their supply risk.

Fuck I hope all these unwanted attention with filler kits not going to ruin the extremely profitable fun I had the past 6 months. In the meantime let me tell you a story of me:

The listing looked professional, clean, minimalist, and priced just high enough to avoid immediate suspicion. 'DDR5 High-Capacity Performance Kit: 128GB (2x64GB) Configuration Support.' I knew exactly who would click.
First came the kids. Most of them had saved up birthday money or lawn-mowing cash for months, desperate to max out their first 'dream' builds. They’d tear open the sleek, holographic packaging with shaking hands, mesmerized by the heavy heatsinks and the vibrant RGB strips. What they didn't realize was that inside those premium aluminum shells sat nothing but inert plastic 'filler blocks' weighted with lead slugs to mimic the heft of high-density silicon. They weren't buying RAM; they were buying expensive glow-sticks.
Then came the grandparents, the ones who just wanted to be the hero on the grandkid's birthday. I remember one message from an elderly woman asking if 'hundred twenty something giga-bite was enough for her grandson’s flight simulator.' I told her it was 'overkill in the best way possible.'
She paid the premium, shipping included. I can still picture the scene: the kid opening the box, the grandfather hovering over the shoulder with a proud smile, and then the crushing silence when the BIOS screen stayed black, or worse, showed '0MB System Memory Detected.' By the time they realized the 'memory modules' didn't even have gold contact pins just painted plastic... another birthday ruined, another grandma breaking down in tears and I was already drafting the next fake listing for an 'RTX 5090 Unopened'...

Modular PC concept (3-cube system)

Compute Cube

motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM, audio card

small case, minimal airflow

internal NVMe for OS

Cooling Cube

external radiator + pump + reservoir

quick-disconnect tubing to PC

huge cooling capacity, very quiet

pump failures are easier to service

Storage Cube

NVMe + HDD array

connected via USB4 / Thunderbolt (~40Gbps)

~2.5–3 GB/s external SSD speeds

storage scalable without opening PC

Why modular

upgrade GPU/CPU without redesigning cooling

add storage independently

keep noise and heat out of the compute box

easier maintenance

Downsides / risks

external cable dependency (storage disconnects can corrupt writes)

external NVMe slower than internal PCIe

permanent watercooling commitment (new GPUs need new blocks)

more physical complexity (tubes + cables)

Best practice layout
Compute Cube
internal NVMe OS
USB4 / Thunderbolt

Storage Cube data / archive
Cooling Cube radiator + pump
Rough cost

Compute: ~$4k

Storage: ~$3–4k depending on drives

Cooling: ~$800

Total: ~$6–8k modular workstation.

Core idea:
Instead of one hot noisy box, split the PC into compute / cooling / storage modules so each part can scale or be serviced independently.

My sample size is the entire basement area here and it definitely doesn't seem yellow like tar. I should soak and then smell so I don't inhale it.
