From now on, everything will go to absolute shit at an accelerated speed. Prices will never return to the previous 'normal', prices will go higher and normalize there, then go higher. If you need something, if you want something, then buy it. Do not wait to save a few dollars, those few dollars will cost you a lot. Unironically if you want to consume just start consuming now. Ram price boom will feel like a firecracker compared to what's to come.

I have a weird issue but I can't tell if I'm just imagining it or not. I was on an old nvidia driver from January till now, everything was working fine, games were super stable, no stuttering or erroneous performance drops. I just updated to the latest driver because I haven't heard anything bad about it and I thought why not. But I could swear there is now input lag in crimson desert when input response was crisp as fuck before. But I might be imagining it. I'm not sure.

>>

the newer nvidia driver may have higher dpc latency. you can check with latencymon. the higher it is the more input lag you feel because your cpu is interrupting more away from your inputs and processes to tackle that.
>>
>>108469529
>>108469546
I DDU'd and reinstalled the old driver and to be honest it feels the same. Maybe I was just imagining it.
>>
>>108469604
it also just be shader compilation. everything you do on windows is a directx application and those have shaders if you look at disk cleanup.
>>
>>108469631
Yeah maybe. The old driver was fine so I may as well just stick with it now. I think I needed to do a fresh driver install anyway, because switching displays and enabling VRR and stuff like that no longer has a 2 second long black screen. Makes me wonder if fresh installing the new driver will make any difference. But I can't be bothered today. Thanks anyway.

Anons, I need help. My CPU cooler died so I've just replaced it and thought this might be a good time to play with undervolting my 13700kf. Couple years ago got myself a 2060 (not Super, cause it wasn't available), now I'm planning to upgrade it, very likely to 5060, of course market situation is terrible, so I really have to ask the question, is it really worth it to pay at least 50% more to get the TI version? Started an AM5 build a month or so ago (still haven't finished building) and paid $375 for a new 48GB kit of DDR5 8000CL38 but am now having serious buyer's remorse.
Wanted to get more than 32GB, since my current system averages around 27-30GB RAM utilization at any given time, but recently managed to pick up a used kit of 32GB 6400CL32 for $150. Haven't opened the 48GB kit yet but it's outside of the return window. It feels so wasteful to spend $400 on RAM for a personal build. Do I sell the unopened 48GB kit and live with the 32GB until the RAM situation settles down or sell the 32GB kit to offset the price of the 48GB kit?

since you got it cheap, you should be able to at least make $50-100 easy which subsidizes the cost of the 48gb kit

That 8000 MT/s CL38 48 GB DDR5 kit is worth keeping if you plan to upgrade the CPU to a Zen 6 or later product.
Those newer chips are rumored to reduce the memory speed bottlenecks (IOD & interconnect improvement).
You could manually OC the 6400 CL32 to 8000 MT/s or even higher, but this kit will almost certainly require significantly higher voltage & active cooling to keep the OC stable.
Treat it as a Zen 6 early adopter tax or something.

Those new CPUs won't be cheap btw, don't be surprised to see single CCD -X3D CPUs costing nearly $600 (especially if Intel gives AMD a free runway).

>do you need 48gb?
Realistically no. I do occasionally hit 95%+ memory utilization with 32GB; that's why I grabbed a 48GB kit (as a 64GB would have been beyond overkill, both practically and financially). I could live with 32GB, because I'm doing so right now, it was mainly just to avoid those situations where I was hitting around 31.7GB utilization.

>>108470433
>That 8000 MT/s CL38 48 GB DDR5 kit is worth keeping if you plan to upgrade the CPU to a Zen 6 or later product.
Initially the plan was to wait and do a build for Zen 6 X3D/Intel Nova Lake release but, at the time of buying the 48GB kit, the state of things and projections that prices would get higher and releases were likely going to be further out caused me to FOMO buy. If the 48GB kit is going to age better in the long term then I'd feel less bad about using it now.
>>
>>108470773
48gb hynix m-die kits like the one you bought will age really well since they can run stupid high clocks (8400mhz+) while having one of the lowest latencies among all available die types. It should age even better than gold binned 6000cl26 64gb kits since those don't run above 7200-7600mhz which may be needed for future ddr5 CPUs for max performance

Intel got complacent. Then they Lost manufacturing ability and had major quality issues. That scared them which led to the nonperforming Arrow Lake, which focused on stability over max performance. Now they are creeping in the right direction with the refresh but time will tell.

Intel released a series of CPUs that were flawed and could damage themselves. AMD pushed forwards with simpler designs that made use of larger cache sizes.
Larger cache and fewer but more powerful and reliable cores was better for gaming.

Nobody wanted to buy a CPU that ran worse and might blow itself up.

I have a ROG STRIX B850-G GAMING WIFI and it comes with a 20gbps USB C Port. I'm looking for either a Hub or a Dock that can meet those speeds that has a few USB ports as well as a SD card reader and preferably also a Micro-SD card reader. My current hub is a J5 Create USB Type-C Multi-port Hub which apparently is 5gb/s which I pretty much only use the SD card reader and it is slow as shit. I don't necessarily need it to charge anything.

I'm ultimately trying to trying to consolidate my cables into 1 going to the PC.

Any recs?
>>
>>108469069
HUB was always trash. Most of the amdrones like nicortoon were in their diapers when Steve used to post GPU limited charts implying that shitdozer was as good as SB.
The other Steve used to be mostly impartial until he got death threats by unhinged amdrones when zen 1 sucked for gaming and later understood that catering to them brings clicks.
Only complete retards or underage would take advice from jewtube grifters.

I've been having an issue with random shut offs. They are happening during idling, browsing and sometimes gaming. There is no blue screen or anything, the PC just shuts off and reboots (or sometimes not reboot at all). The reliability tool didn't give any useful information. For a while I thought it was the PSU, but I've still been able to do heavy gaming for hours on end. A few days ago I saw some red 'flashes' around the power connector on the GPU while it was rebooting. I reseated the power cable and hoped that would be it. I saw no outward damage on the cable or the GPU. I got an Asus astral 5080. I've been using the 12VHPWR connector from the 850W Corsair PSU. I've also got a 3 8pin to 12VHPWR connector adapter. Should I be using this? Or would using a adapter be even worse? Any other options that would be better?

- 1x AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
- 4x 64G DDR5-6400 PC5-51200 CL42

- 1x Lian Li Edge Series-1300W PSU
- 1x ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360
- 1x Lian Li LANCOOL 217

gonna probably try to start with GLM-4.7 on both machines, then go from there. certainly open to recommendations and suggestions

Of course, various CPU benchmarks, and modded minecraft distant horizons world generation out ~500 chunks and CPU use set to "I paid for the whole CPU" setting. It basically slams your CPU and RAM for 20-30 minutes straight.

Beyond that, the real stability concern with a 9800X3D isn't stability under load, it's stability during low-power and idle states as that's the most likely time a 9800X3D will crash.

You're comparing apples to oranges.
Decima is an inhouse engine provided to Kojima Productions due to Sony's support for the Death Stranding project.
UE 5 is a more versatile engine that is made for a much broader developer base, and it doesn't prioritize PlayStation performance optimizations.

Neither Death Stranding nor the Horizon series are relevant in PC gaming anyway.

never happening, it is bound by it's inherent limitations
like a down syndrome person, you can't level up from that because it's your genetics hard coded, same thing with VA
it's never getting solved, fixed, it's only putting makeup on a pig, Samsung could not solve it, inherent downsides can never be fixed

I've tried out both a QD and W oled monitor. Both look nice, but consistently give me headaches after using them for like an hour. Seems like I might be sensitive to PWM dimming or something else if my googling around is to be believed, so I'm looking at regular IPS monitors for now. Since from what I've gathered lots of miniled monitors also use PWM dimming apparently? And I just don't want to take the risk. I know that VA monitors have better contrast, but I've seen examples of black smearing and I think that'd drive me up the wall.

Question is, how do I distinguish the good options from the bad ones? I know I want something 27 inch, 1440p, at least 144 hz (though that's pretty much all of them), and with good colours. There's options from KTC and brands like amzfire & minifire on amazon that seem to have what I want, but I'm not sure what I should be checking to see if they're actually what they say they are? Is there something in the specs that I should look out for specifically?

Most of the affordable entry level & mainstream IPS monitors are using similar display panels.
There'll be differences in maximum brightness and color accuracy out of the box, and how well the monitor lives up to their advertised specs.
There are monitors with EyeSafe certifications, but this is for blue light protection.
Read a lot of owner feedback and check professional reviews if available.

all Im going to say is this: when you finally do switch you will wish you switched years ago....

it took me years to finally pull the trigger and damn Im so fucking glad I swtiched years ago.... like super glad. Yes, brave is that good.

i used to think firefox made my internet shit because mobile just werked, then i found out it was my isp and a free vpn fixed it
>>
>>108473460
pretty sure manifest v2 is still supported by brave, but you can't get those extensions from the web store anymore (since google controls it)
you should use brave shields instead of ublock origin for adblocking, it supports the same filters and it's faster since it's native code instead of JS bloat
>>
>>108473446
i like Edge but i'm getting tired of google specifically fucking with it so I might try brave

computers are still a lot cheaper now than they were in the 80's/90's. stop whining. the only thing that's up a lot is the amount of poor third world shitdwellers and neets that feel entitled to affordable computers.

I'm going to slowly blog as I notice things
the colors are WAY better, damn I had a shitty screen
the gpu went from pulling 80w to display 180hz 1080p frames in dota 2 to 110w on ultrawide
it's too bright and too colorful
I genuinely cannot see the "more pixels looks better" the detail looks the same, maybe this is a thing you notice when you downgrade in resolution not when you upgrade

either get a laptop stand to hide your laptop behind your monitors or look into an underdesk solution to hide it. Dongle/dock to plug into it. Maybe put in an IT ticket for a new monitor, the standard issue dells are now usb c and charge your laptop. Just put in a request for a dongle/hub as well while you're at it lol
