>>108474233Most of these people are right about getting a 4080. The Radeon graphics cards are powerful and cheap, AND the drivers are open source which makes them more compatible with Linux operating systems. However there has been talk about outdated drivers and early end of life for graphics cards. The other thing is that most of the games that you want to play that require a high end graphics cards are using proprietary features that are native to Nvidia graphics cards, like RTX and DLSS. AMD graphics cards have to work harder to replicate the same features because they are not built into the architecture of the AMD card. Nvidia has been winning in part because they have been using monopolistic practices and encouraging developers to integrate proprietary features that are native to their cards into games and engines. You can fight the good fight, or you can buy a card that works for things you want it to work for. In the meantime, your Nvidia graphics card will be pricier and tied to Microslop

>>108474315In that case, I got my 9800X3D for RPCS3 too, I'd upgrade the 7600x to a 9600x as it has AVX-512 support which is really important for PS3 emulation. For the record, I'm not saying that you should avoid a 9700XT entirely either, just that, if you can get a 16GB RTX 4080 for the same price USED, then grab that as they're about the same in raster with more features and a way stronger chance AMD will kill the card in the cradle.Otherwise you'll have to grab optiscaler, fucking mod FS4 to FS4 from DLSS calls, when quite frankly it's less work and a better result just to grab Nvidia and flip the DLSS magic button.I wouldn't go with a 12gb card unless you were on a significantly lower budget, at which point the B580 would be the obvious pick.
>>108474733I'm retarded, apparently, the 7600x also has AVX-512, I just saw it as being far better on the RPCS3 CPU tier list. But for a small jump in price I think you'd be getting a lot out of it, the single core power on those is quite fantastic.

Can please anyone redpill me on futureproofing?Wondering if I should buy a zen 5 9600x with a 9070 OR zen 7 9800x3d with 9070xt (but I would also have to spend more on Mobo and PSU and an AIO)I'm overall spending about $500 more in the second choice but I wonder if both builds become equally obsolete in like 5/6 years and I would have to buy a new PC anyway.
>>1084775549070 = 9070xt in futureproofing9800x3d might be somewhat future proofed but it will pale in comparison to the monstrous next gen cpus AMD and Intel are preparing (12-core ccx and 8+16 ccd, 144mb L3 on both)
>>108477597>but it will pale in comparison to the monstrous next gen cpus AMD and Intel are preparingI doubt it. Cpu companies seem to be totally fine selling the same shit that they have been. They don't want to spend money on l3 cache and they don't care how their customers get their ram. Amd seems to absolutely hate their own x3d cache and Intel couldn't give a fuck about the consumer market. They'll take whatever slow architecture they have planned for enterprise and sell it back to the individual consumer as an upgrade. Don't be suprised when the next amd release is slower than a 7800x3d. Amd's explanation will be "power efficiency and cumpute" because all they're doing is moving server architecture to the consumer.
>>108477554Buying AMD for future proofing after their track record with the RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 is insanity my man. You cannot expect any long term support for RDNA 4. They've done this shit twice now. They're almost certainly going to do it with RDNA 4 when their next gen of console GPUs needs something to accelerate AI upscaling functions.
>>108477697So what CPU do you recommend
>>108477645L3 cache scales 1:1 with CCX size. With 12 core ccxs, there will be twelve slices of 4MB cache and 3d v-cache will triple that amount to 144MB while intel in parallel are preparing their bLLC chips with 144MB of L3 cache laid out horizontally
>>108477728They're doing fine with CPUs. 9800X3D is pretty good. Or at least, there's nothing really imminent that's going to change much for gaming, at least not that anyone is aware of for sure.
Simply wait for Nova Lake so that Intel can blow away AMD for the next 2-3 generations of chips.

>>108477894intel still has the highest ipc core once they fix the cache problem, their arch will fly
>>108477894The difference between measurements is inconsequential at that scale. The architecture and interconnects are more important. Especially when they are trying to incorporate large l3 cache. I think we'll have to see what the 9950x3d2 performs like.

>>108477894what matters the most is latency and NovaLake basically has the BBLC cache integrated cache on the compute tile while Olympic Ridge still has the same architecture as current Zen 5 and as you can see on the 9950X3D with 2 9950X3D2 bigger cache means 0 improvement in gaming, overlal if Intel does not fuck this up they should be at least one gen over AMD in terms of gaming performance, because the BBLC is not stacked like X3D proccesors.
>>108479015The only thing that worries me is that bLLC is laid out horizontally meaning it'll have to either run at lower clocks or run with loose timings making it uncompetitive in performance to amd's vcache which runs high clocks and relatively tight timings for a large cache

after switching from 32" 1080p to 34" 3440x1440 I can tell you the undeniable truth.screen size is FAR more important than resolution.the 32" feels much bigger because it's still 16:9 despite having much lower pixel density it was more comfortable to use, the 34" feels like I'm squinting all the time.LG sells a ultrawide oled 3440x1440 in two sizes, 34" and 39" which would be the 32" height + the extra width for 21:9, having had this experience I can tell you 100% that the 39" would be the better choice to buy.the moral of the story is that pixel density is grossily overrated and screen size is vastly underrated.

played a little bit of dota, little bit of rpcs3, still no crash with 2860mhz mem clock, will up to 2900 soon
>>108478281All the 13th and 14th gen are DEFECTIVE. Yes, that is millions and millions of CPUs that don't fucking work. If you have a lower volt version it will take longer to degrade but they are ALL busted. All the microcode updates did was make them boost lower to stop them from crashing instantly when you did something like compile shaders.
>>108481898My 12900ks pulls over 350w while compiling shaders for FF7 Rebirth.

so I just noticed that the only card techpowerup got with samsung memory also achieves 2900mhz stable, I guess getting samsung is winning the 9070 xt lotteryhttps://www.techpowerup.com/review/powercolor-radeon-rx-9070-xt-reva-hellhound/39.html
I just want to be able to buy a 5090 fe at its $2k msrp ffs...
>>108481062Over the top WW1, Helldivers 2 and Crimson Desert have brought back 'fun' for most gamers. The gamers haven't changed, they just developed taste, while the industry shat itself into DIE-inspired mediocrity and predatory monetisation.
>>108481920Gettting Samsung memory was the lottery for over 10 years. Meta stable as fuck.

I seek the wizards for an insane pc retrofitting question. I have a 2012 samsung notebook with a dying screen module, and the hinges are straight up gone. I also have an HP all-in-one computer with a bigger monitor I could mount on the wall.my question is, what would be a not-insane way to connect it as a new screen/monitor to replace the current one? the notebook has an unused VGA port, and the A-in-O has 6 usb ports, but I don't know if there's a way to use the monitor-specific connector inside the notebook's motherboard and bypass the A-in-O's motherboard entirely.
>>108481898when is the degradation supposed to start? I haven't lost a single millivolt on my 14700K>>108481910they do boost lower in all core loads because motherboard manufacturers stopped cheating with AC/DC LL

>>108482029I have a better way to go about this for you, just go online and spend $50 on a new dino-laptop
