i just can't with this. some people ought to speak to an ai before sharing an opinion for everyone to see.
here, i'll make it easy for you:
Congrats on your LineageOS install. You're still one "verify your identity to continue" popup away from the same brick as everyone else.
Your "freedom" ends the moment you open Discord, your bank app, LinkedIn, or any normie service rolling out mandatory selfie verification at the app level — which is exactly where this is heading. Your unlocked bootloader means nothing when the app itself won't let you past the login screen without a government ID scan. You bypassed Google. You did not bypass Jumio, Persona, Onfido, or whoever the next KYC contractor is.
Also, LineageOS. A ROM maintained by a rotating cast of volunteers you've never vetted — and it's already phoning home by default. SUPL (the assisted GPS protocol) sends your location query to Google's servers unless you manually patch it out, which 99% of LineageOS users never do. Default DNS? Also Google. You "degoogled" your phone and it's still whispering to Mountain View every time you get a GPS fix. You audited every commit? You trust some rando's December merge more than you trust a known supply chain?
The threat model was never "can I flash a custom ROM." It's "will useful software run without submitting my face to a third-party KYC vendor by 2028." Increasingly, no. Your bootloader unlock does nothing about that.
All that effort. Still gonna get "please take a selfie holding your ID" from your bank. (If it even works on your non attested shit xiaomeme)
