The more I customize Claude the more I realize how fucking over it is vor the majority of devs.Especially those who refuse to adapt
>>108495601>Especially those who refuse to adaptWhat difference does it make if one adopts it or not when the field is shrinking regardless? You guys always talk as if being highly knowledgable in stuff like agent swarms will give you job protection which it doesn't.
>>108495601I was waiting forthe bubble to pop or at least shrink before investing but I'm starting to think that will not happen...
>>108495609>What difference does it make if you go with the flow or try to thrash about against it If you aren't retarded the answer should be self evident>You guys always talk as if being highly knowledgable in stuff like agent swarmsIt's a tool, not a fucking science. You don't need to be "le highly knowledgeable" in it to use it to your advantage. It's like some retard refusing to use debugging tool using "what's the point in being highly knowledgeable about breakpoints and snapshot inspection" as a weak excuse.
>>108495609The field is not shrinking at all. Companies destroyed the ladder for juniors, but that will only benefit us. A retard with Claude will still produce retarded output
>>108495625>If you aren't retarded the answer should be self evidentThe answer is that adoption will be enforced either way. It's only a choice for people who aren't professional software devs.>It's a tool, not a fucking science. You don't need to be "le highly knowledgeable" in it to use it to your advantage.Actually I do chat with my principle dev tier friend quite a lot and the shit he sets up is insane. This goes beyond inserting your requirements into a chat and watching the model reason and occasionally asking for feedback. There's entire AI pipelines at work.
>>108495614It will happen, but probably not to the extent some codemonkeys and other retards cope it will. There will be no "aha, ai is actually le useless" moment for example, we're already way past that. There also won't be a winter in terms of productivity gains, because we're just starting to actually juice the LLM capabilities properly through proper interfacing.I do think there will be a deflation in hype though, because LLMs definitely won't lead to muh singularity or hyper intelligent AI. But that doesn't mean firing sprees will stop happening, they'll only increase in the near future
>>108495639A mid-tier dev with some business knowledge and basic understanding of programming will be able to output anywhere from 10-300% more code in the same time period as before. Even with more projects being started, the overall market will decline a fair bit.
>>108495650>There's entire AI pipelines at work. You've probably never bothered to look into it and think it's indistinguishable from black magic. "Advanced" ai workflows are retardedly simple and usually are just a bunch of scripts, cronjobs and markdown files glued together, maybe with a bunch of external tool integrations on top.
>>108495657China is betting on the current approach not leading to AGI so they rather focus on minimizing cost and maximizing performance of their models and using them in robotics. If the US-based companoes do not achieve AGI, all that will remain are incrementally advancing models at ever-increasing prices.
There's more than enough jobs for everybody if you just make it illegal to hire nonwhites.
Brothers, I have been at my current company for 6 years. Is it a good time to switch? I am finally getting bored of this place, and the new C suites are literal retards. >The ethical framework I will be using to develop a potential response to this issue is deontology. Deontology asserts that morality is based on duties, rules and intentions rather than consequences. A rule is moral if it can be consistently willed as a universal law that all rational beings could follow without contradiction. The moral rule I would suggest be followed in this scenario is “everyone should be able to provide for themselves”. I can’t imagine a situation where this rule wouldn’t be willed by rational beings. Thus it would be a moral imperative to adjust the system such that it could assess different resume formats. Utilizing a utilitarian framework might suggest a different response. It could be argued that a disabled and non disabled person’s happiness are equally valuable and as such only spending resources on developing the system such that it uses only the most widely used resume format would provide the most net happiness.Eh, Kant was a pretty cool guy I guess.

>>108495609I think the getting left behind narrative makes no sense, the AGI chasing narrative also makes no sense. If you want to use AI because it's helpful at the moment, you can do that, but you will not be left behind if you don't. There isn't much to learn and the tools are getting easier and easier to use anyway. You can just not use AI and then when you actually need it just learn how to use it over a week. This isn't like normal programming, where building your skills can take years.Or you can play around with a 20 dollar subscription until you need more. The same for AGI, the most effective way to do this would be to invest more money in research and also wait a few generations until GPU improve further, brute forcing compute on current gen hardware with current gen algorithms is a horribly inefficient way of doing things.

How do I get into one of those so called adult day care office jobs with a fancy title? I have no idea what most of them do and my resume only has technical stuff on it

>>108496307How does owning a nice house (about a mil these days) get you to 45k a year of free spending? Your defense of this random image is retarded unless you made it, and even then you should be taking this criticism as feedback.
>>108497496You leverage it against the house. Just take out money and use the house as collateral. EZ.
>>108492611misleading image$45K/yr to be "middle class?"That's very fragile, forces you to live in a small city or a rural area if you don't want rent killing your budgetNo margin for mistakes or bad luck
My coworkers get lower middle class money for life from fake disability from their 4 years military and it makes me seethe than they get that and make more than me. I'd only be at vagabond
It's PI planning week. In the past, the company would buy us lunch every day during the week, but about a year ago, they stopped, but only for my location. The other locations still get lunch. For the last few PI planning weeks, I tried to ask around and find out if we could order lunch too, but I never really got a solid answer, and so we didn't order anything. This time, I sent an email to the higher-ups and asked if we were approved to order lunch. I never got a reply. I've tried asking others, but it's all just going in circles, and still no one can tell me if our location is approved or not. The other location is still ordering food, though.Do I have a right to be mad about this? I know I sound like a spoiled child, complaining about not receiving free food, but I don't think it's fair that the other location gets it but not us.

>>108499043I think whats worse is that i use O'Reilly at work for certification studying and i see nothing but indian books being spammed. The Chink books are actually pretty detailed and cover just about any dumbass question you could ask from a textbook but the indian books are missing alot of details required to pass certifications.
>>108499043what's the issue? jealous?
>>108499043how do you find these? i went to his profile he only has 1k connections, what in the fuck
I got CISSP three years ago (well I passed the exam three years ago and got endorsed a few months later) and it has done nothing for my career. I consider the cert a joke, but I had long heard hiring managers and shit bend over backwards to interview CISSPs. Was I lied to? Did that change recently and I missed the boat? Am I just doing something wrong?
>>108499066W-what is a normal number of connections?
>>108499187CISSP is a supporting cert with RHEL and other security certs. Are you Defense or Offense Cyber Security is the better question? It's like getting a MBA and wondering why you didn't get promoted in work.
My coworker is switching from sysadmin to a networking position and will probably make more than me now. I'm happy for him but I little bit jealous.
>>108499215>CISSP is a supporting cert with RHEL and other security certs.I don't know what you mean by this desu. >>108499215>Are you Defense or OffenseUnemployed lmao but I have only worked defense and engineering (as in building a SIEM for some project that got cut) and have no current intention of trying to switch to offense.
>>108499234Get your CCNP enterprise and become the manager. Hell go further and read(not take) A+/Net+/Sec+ then take CCNP. It will make the certification easier and the job app easier since you know the basics and basics is what gets people through the interview.
>>108499271Like with any certification path you need a handful of certs to progress beyond the basics. Comptia trifecta/CCNA/RHEL is where you can move pass bullshit jobs. CCNP is key however. For you if all you have is CISSP then getting RHEL/Sec+/CCNA would be ideal if you want to stay in Cyber security. If you cannot find a job then a NOC position is ideal for you. Government Helpdesk doesn't hurt either.
>>108499282I have CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Project+, Cloud+, CySA+, PenTest+, taking SecurityX on Friday, AWS CCP, Azure Fundamentals, CISSP, and some basic Linux cert I don't remember the name of. Network+ was the only one of those I consider educationally worthwhile, so yeah I should probably do CCNA. Damn, I'm supposed to be studying for SecurityX but now I just want to slam Adderall and go autistic in Packet Tracer. Haven't touched that since 2019. Before you ask, no, I'm not Indian.
>>108499368No way you should be jobless anon. I would hire you on a whim desu. If you are american then you should apply to these various websites provided that you don't have a criminal record. Then after you work there for a 2 years reconsider your certification path. https://www.clearancejobs.com/jobs?keywords=helpdeskhttps://www.gdit.com/careers/search/?q=Helpdesk
>>108499368Degree status????
>>108499381>No way you should be jobless anon.Yeah I agree. I know the job market is shit right now, but I must be doing something wrong, I just don't know what it is. I assume you're the dude I was talking to in the other thread about the Air Force Reserve. I had to go do some shit and the thread hit bump limit by the time I opened it again and I didn't feel like cross-thread posting, my bad. Anyway, my cousin's a Reserve IMA officer and he's shown me the light. Dude makes big money at his civilian job (unrelated to tech unfortunately) and manages to find a cushy TDY every year to ride the Reserve out to retirement. I think the Air Force has blown more on his per diem and lodging than they did on my paychecks (I was just a dirty enlistoid). I was actually talking to a Guard (I would prefer Reserve but she's the only recruiter who answered the phone) recruiter in 2024 but I broke my arm shortly afterward and never followed up with her. I don't have anything technically permabanning me from reenlisting, but I think I'm going to need waivers out the ass. My former boss is a Reservist, maybe I should ask him to ask the recruiting office to pick up their phone... not that I've called them in a few months lol, I'm really dragging my feet on that. I strongly regret not Palace Fronting. I'm all over the place with this, long story. >>108499470Master's in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance It bothers me every time I think about it because I consider cyber security to be two words, not one. Then again I spell cyberpunk as one word, but who's keeping score?
>>108499596>other thread about the Air Force ReserveI am the same dude. Apply for a clearance job i promise you with GDIT they will give you a job if you apply for CCC/Helpdesk. you are far more qualified than i am.

>>108499381I just checked all those GDIT jobs and none of them sponsor a security clearance (aside from public trust lmao) from nothing. >>108499817>>108499836There's a lot of context missing because I didn't link to the original conversation. But also I am on a drug bender. >>108499856I'm American

Has your company jumped into the AI wagon? Ours is trying to make use of it and yet they have no idea where and how can they implement it. Also they bought a ton of AI courses for us, from stuff like "prompt engineering" to AI agent creation and training.
