Same. I have been thinking about starting my own consulting company or something similar. I was talking to my Uncle over Easter who worked in the Oil & Gas industry for his whole career and recently "retired" to start his own consulting gig. He told me he now makes more money running his own small business than he ever did as an oil and gas exec. He literally said "I wish I did this when i was in my 30s".

The problem is I feel like in tech we don't really have that domain/tribal knowledge that lends itself to running those small consulting firms like other traditional industries. I want a non faang no name company SWE internship or full time job. Government if possible. Is a CS BS at a mediocre state college enough?
Surely this is grounded enough to achieve. I'd be 25 when I graduate
