I started learning how to code when I was 12. When I was 18 I decided to make my future about machine learning, this was around the time the transformer paper released. And now fast forward, 10 years later, I'm surrounded by "hustlers", "vibecoders", "AI shippers". I feel like I'm trying to do work surrounded by nothing by grifters. It is really disastrous to see your biggest passion and your biggest skill turn to dogshit. But what else is there for me? I've coded my entire life and can do nothing else. And I know I do it well, I understand machine learning well. But people who ship dogshit are at much better financial settings in their lives simply because they dropped out of university as soon as they noticed that frontend brings massive money. And those are now the people that interview me when hiring.

For behavioral i assume who you are type of questions right? The solution is that you need to read books aloud and act out those characters. It helps with confidence during interviews and greatly helps with customer service.
General knowledge you need to define. However you should really hit the basics up either through reading tech related books or something adjacent.

If its a tutorial you have problem solving then either switch to video/book/website and follow it. I for the life of me cannot follow lectures and never have been able to follow along without getting distracted so books are my only method of learning something new.

General knowledge questions are basic bitch questions asking what you know about the job at the fundamental levels. Well if its copy and pasted then you didn't try to actually learn what the project was trying to teach you. Even on a simply project i play around with the various things to make it seem like mine that way i get the topic being taught at a somewhat deeper level. When prompted about a project i can then discuss all of the moving pieces within it or how it can be modified to fit a customers request. Its not perfect but for a job interview it shows that you did more than just learn something.

part of me thinks I should still apply to postings by cognizant, infosys, accenture, etc, and the "known" indian bodyshops that seem to only hire H1Bs now (bcbs, mayo clinic, others)...just to have my name out there and maybe it'll look bad on them if ANYTHING EVER FUCKING CHANGES.
