Which is better for ergonomics?
>TKL or smaller where mouse is closer to a neutral position
>"ergonomic" keyboard with huge space in the middle, but mouse is farther out since it's as larger or larger than a regular 100%

I want a 75% mechanical keyboard, priced $150 and below, with 2.4 GHz dongle wireless connection capability, ANSI layout. Regarding switches, I prefer tactile switches, but sound-wise I like creamy/thocky keyboards. If impossible, I'm willing to sacrifice the sound for tactile switches. Either way, I want a pre-built keyboard, and I want it to come with good tactile switches by default. What do you recommend to me?

want:
>metal (aluminium, brass, or something else doesn't matter. just don't want cheap plastic)
>tkl
>hotswap
>via
>can be barebones or come with switches/keycaps
>wired is a must-have
>prefer if it doesn't have wireless, actually, so i dont have to deal with a battery

I found these:
>WOBKEY Crush80 Reboot Pro: $159-$169
>Evoworks Evo80: $169.99
>MK x WOBKEY Crush80 Reboot: $175
>Keychron Lemokey L4: $184.99 ($204.99 with switches/caps)
>Neo80 Cu (brass): $266.99
There were some others (MCHOSE GX87, Keychron Q3/Pro/Max) but they're either sold out or sold out of any decent color.

Should I just go with the evo80?

Kinesis saved my hands, I had extreme pain in my wrists, nothing helped. Then I switched it in desperate attempt to do something and after two weeks of typing exclusively on it pain was gone. I now type on Ergodox which uses the same principle, but has a much nicer programmability. If you have wrist pain / tendonitis, try one of those keyboards (but you must switch to cold turkey and not fallback to typing on regular keyboards).

they’re split and angled to relieve tension on your wrists but basically still ansi. the benefit over columnar is that they take like 20 minutes to get used to compared to weeks but they don’t have the full ergonomic benefits

>>
>>108667792
Oh yeah, I have those too, but they don't actually help with the pain, they're just convenient to hold and use one while I'm on the couch. You wanna get rid of pain, you need a split columnar one. Yes, it took me two weeks to get used to it, but it's worth if you have severe pain and can't type anyway.
>>
>>108667794
They are but the problem is there aren’t really many custom HE boards because of the market overlap with gaymers, so they’re mostly all prebuilt. Even more premium HE boards like kafka only came prebuilt for the HE version

I have an advantage2 and I really like it. It took a few weeks to really get used to Enter/Space on the thumb cluster. This keyboard somewhat promotes using both shift keys, which is weird for some people (like when pressing +). For games you'll probably want to rebind to ESDF instead of WASD, and backspace for spacebar actions. Arrow keys are similarly unwieldy so I just reprogrammed them as super keys. If you use a window manager that uses super key bindings, you may want to do the same. Swapping escape and caps lock is a good idea always. As an Emacs user, I wish the Alt key were in a more neutral position, but that might not be an issue for someone with larger hands. Rebinding is also an option. The hard palm rest can be uncomfortable, but these come with optional adhesive pads.

Been using it for around 2-3 hours this morning and I really like it.

The click is a bit weird feeling at first, but I quickly got used to it, especially when i turned it up from the default medium click level to a heavier click.

Now I have a nice heavy click with almost no sound. Exactly what I was looking for.

Only time will tell how this shit holds up, but for now i'm happy enough.

rd75 and wave75 are exactly the same, get the one that's cheaper unless you really just want the extra case foams the wave75 comes with
evo75 uses more premium materials and has a butterfly leaf spring mount to give your typing a bouncier feel. It's also more expensive.
It depends on whether you think the features on the evo75 are worth it but generically evo75 > rd75 >= wave75

I have a keyboard with a warped case. I can still type on it, just that it tilts if I don't have it at a certain angle with a corner hanging off my desk; it doesn't sit flat, especially not on its feet. How can I fix it? I assume it depends on the material used in the keyboard. I'm pretty sure it's ABS since it has very faint yellowing.

I can't remember if it arrived that way, or if it warped when I went full retard and used too much hot water when cleaning it.

I use the numpad daily for work as well as for a lot of older rpg games that are 1st person or top down view n a grid (think rpgmaker-like games) that virtually demand a numpad to move around or to navigate menus in games that were pre or early post mouse development.

I also have hands-on experience with Logitech's attention to quality with my G502 HERO. Or the MX Master 3S not having a wired mode despite having a USB-C connector. Or their software always being dogshit. So maybe there are better options.

Where do you recommend to buy keyboards and switches, except for Amazon? Is AliExpress any good for that?
>>
>>108676800
Aliexpress is fine, but also just look at the vendor list in the OP.

Mechanical keyboards have reached their peak. The only thing that differentiates a keyboard above $150 from its cheaper alternatives is a metal bottom plate or a metal weight, which is like the most artificial and easiest way to make something more expensive. Not to mention switches are super cheap and great all around.
There are only 2 ways to make keyboards better, one is to evolve the form factor, which is what you're seeing with ergo boards becoming more popular. The other is to create a new switch form factor outside of cherry MX, which for some reason I've only seen gamer brands try, and every attempt has been shit.

That's not 100%

That's an 1800

100% is full sized, including the right side.

1800 uses a condensed right side, usually giving a shortened shift key among others.

96% is even more condensed.

Geon destroyed every gasket and top mount board from the competition
before Geon we suffered from creamy thoccy choccy floppy cocky foamshit from crap like Mr. Suit or overpriced crap from TGR and Keycult

we RVTURNED to Cherry and switch modding
we embraced pure design that doesn't get carried by endless sheets of foam
we embraced clean clacks over muddy thocks
we embraced the perfect unity of form and function <$500
we embraced user friendly design with no fear of running out of spare plates or PCBs or proprietary Chinee bullshit
we embraced the SCRATCH
you don't have to argue the point, the free market speaks for itself
and it speaks the same no matter where you are

Diatec, the company behind the Filco brand, has shut down.

https://gigazine.net/gsc_news/en/20260424-filco-diatec

However, I think Majestouch keyboards were manufactured by OEM Costar in Taiwan. I wonder if they will be still be sold, either by another brand or by Costar themselves, just like Fostex (original Japanese OEM for Denon headphones) started selling the old Denon headphones when the latter switched OEM to some shitty Chinese manufacturer.

Will the sun degrade my PBT double shot keycaps and ABS plastic if I have my desk left in the sun like this for a few hours every day? I guess I could extend this to my LCD monitor. Windows to my left.
>>
>>108686363
If it does, it should take decades to do, most car dashboards are made out of the same material as keyboards so if they do start fading early you have really low quality plastic
>having a plastic key caps and plastic keyboard
Mine is metal and porcelain so I don't have this problem :3

48 hour update, i'm a big fan.

It's not QUITE as "crisp" feeling for the click, but it loses all of the audible harshness that a normal click has.

For me, it's great.

As long as this thing holds up well over 2-3 years i'll happily buy another if they still make them.

ngl this actually appeals to me if you removed the knob and the last two keyrows and just bind them to a second layer on the board.
