no

what's the point if organize my pics in folders
>>
We use Artix now.
>>
>>108704616
Yeah, you may need to do a little tweaking but it should work.
>>
>>108704616
I did that at the start of February. It's a 5 year old Asus gaming laptop with a 2060m (for time reference). Windows looks and runs like shit on the thing, even when it was brand new. Linux mint is fast and works great. Keyboard lighting is supported, no weird driver issues. It just works

Yes
>Gayming laptop
Well maybe not, there are other distros that were made for gayming so maybe use them.
>>
>>108704702
Tags and metadata exist on Linux though.

Stick with Windows if you're going to do some gaming.

what is mint missing? if it runs steam it works, distro is irrelevant
>>
>>108704616
no mint is gay put bazzite/cachyos if you want garming
>>
>>108707167
Mint has retarded defaults that negatively affect gaming. Cinnamon is still X11 which means
>No VRR if you have multiple displays
>No mixed refresh without stuttering if you have media on a secondary display
>No fractional scaling
>No HDR
The only valid usecase for mint is extremely dated laptops (Windows 7 era) since they miss these basic modern features.
Yes you easily install a Wayland DE / WM on top, but why bother with mint at all at that point.
Mint, and anyone suggesting using it for anything more than web browsing, is retarded.
>>
>>108707208
okay so just nitpick reasons that frogposter playing a game on his laptop may or may not care about, worth noting
>The only valid usecase for mint is extremely dated laptops
this is retarded though
believe it or not x11 still gets on just fine for 95% of people, not all gamers are pixel peeping freaks
>>
>>108707250
belive it or not, not all gamers play tuxracer only

Mint is very good at reviing older shit.

For new games and hardware, use something like CachyOS or Fedora with a bit of rpmfusion wiki magic.
>>
>>108707250
>okay so just nitpick reasons
No the downsides listed are objectively bad for anyone who doesnt want a worse experience for no reason. If you want to gimp your hardware so absolutely no valid reason, be my guest.
>>
>buy a 240hz display
>run it at 60hz for no reason
>"that's nitpicking"
LOL do X11 year old lovers really????
>>

Could you install Linux mint on your gaming laptop?
>>
>>108707208
Nta, but why are these not on mint?
Is it that hard to add?
>>
if need to ask no, but in case windows not available is good start
>>
>>108704616
Works for me, I play CS2 on LMDE and have no issues so far, I would recommend using proprietary drivers though, the default nouveau nvidia ones are terrible
>>
>>108707297
objectively bad if those features matter to you. OP might be normal
>>
>>108709094
it's just limitations of x11. cinnamon is getting experimental support for wayland, which itself has a bit of reputation for being buggy as hell (which is why mint's support for it is slow-moving)
>>
>>108707167
Mint is still using an older version of Ubuntu and is x11. Nothing that you installing programs or compiling them yourself won't solve.
>>
>>108707161
>>108707208
>>108709410
What's with these updooter trannys? You almost seem like wintoddlers.
Mint is on kernel 6.17 which has every fucking buzzword feature your favorite techtuber told you about. X11 is still miles ahead of wayland for performance and compatibility.
Enjoy your input lag and disabled hw acceleration.
>>
>>108704616
>should i install linux mint on my gaming laptop?
just use bazzite/nobara/cachyos if you want a real linux gaming experience
>>
>>108709461
Why did you reply to me? I said it's using an older version of Ubuntu so the programs you get are 1-2 years older by default. You have to install them or compile them yourself. Yes x11 is fine but is also a reason why it's not a gaymer distro.
>>
>>108709188
Why tf people shill wayland if it's unstable then?
I get that X11 is old (it was designed for a special usecase, and everything can't be adapted) but still

>>108709410
It shouldn't work that way.
Mint should come "battery included", if a new stable tech is here, Mint should have it.
>>
>>108709578
>shouldn't work that way.
I mean they will eventually move to the new Ubuntu version but they need to fix their wayland first anyway. Mint devs just can't keep up.
>>
I use Nobara, works pretty fine for now, but surely there are any better alternatives for gaming on linux
>>
>>108709616
What else do you need?
>>
CachyOS, Nobara, Kubuntu. Kubuntu is probably the most just werks gaming-friendly distro.
>>
>>108709578
Because it's not about being better: it's about destroying the ecosystem. X11 got killed off by Red Hat by purposefully not developing X11, then forcing Wayland. Once someone decided to fork X11 and start developing it again, calling it XLibre, his project started being attacked not on the merit of him not being a good dev or a good project manager, but because of some political bickering, which tells you everything you need to know about Wayland shills.
>>
>>108704616
no, see >>>108707532

That'd be Bazzite.

dont try reasoning with wayfags. they're the vegans of linux and dont know what theyre talking about
>>

>atomic distro
are you trying to get him to hate Linux or something?
>>
Yes. Linux is actually better at running some old Windows games than Windows.
>>
>>108712595
It has problems running the only game I care about.
>>
>>108707208
I'll bite.
>No VRR if you have multiple displays
I don't have multiple displays. Just one big one.
>No mixed refresh without stuttering if you have media on a secondary display
See above.
>No fractional scaling
I have it at 200% and it's perfect.
>No HDR
This one you got me. Linux Mint is too comfy though.
>>
>>108711186
Its an analogy you fucking retard lmao keep up
>>108709461
>which has every fucking buzzword feature
It's nothing to do with the kernel you tech illiterate retard. Mint defaults to x11 which has the limitations listed.
>>108709147
I'm sorry your standards are lower than mine
>>108712946
I have no idea why you would intentionally gimp your PC
