Notice all the "baby duck" threads have disappeared since W11 adoption hit a wall? They were sure they were going to be able to shame everyone into converting to W11 but what actually happened was one last corporate refresh cycle before memory prices went insane, halting new hardware purchases. Now Microsoft is scrambling for ways to get the stubborn never-W11ers to change, which requires actually addressing the performance shortcomings because hardware refresh can't cover up for shitty code anymore.

This has been out for a while and it's not what you imagine. You can see it on some xbox handheld but it's basically Windows 11 but you can reboot it into a minimal single app mode to run a gaming store such as the xbox one or steam big picture mode. There is no desktop or desktop apps in this mode and would be difficult to use it as such

>>108723328>>108723962DESU trying to measure windows memory usage is the most worthless exercise imaginable.Windows memory management operates differently based on how much free RAM you have.Even Windows 11 will run on 2GB of RAM at which point it idles at ~1.4-1.5GB. You have about ~400MB for applications until Windows starts swapping active processes.

>>108716833The amount of tinker trannying to make windows 11 not terrible is only worth it if things you use on a daily or weekly basis require it. There's some software and games that I need windows for so I did end up running through the gauntlet of windows debloat and installing 3rd party apps to actually make the UI not garbage etc. Even then I use my linux machine probably 85% of the time, sad part is windows actually could have been good but they just haven't given a shit about it for too long now and now the public consensus is it's shit, because it is. The brand is basically ruined among normie consumer tier users now. Hope they made their money back on the data collection

>>108725899PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE
Genuinely curious here, but I just built a PC and installed W11 on it, and yeah the massive bloatware and features were annoying but it took like not even a day to get rid of it, even if i tried one drive and copilot simply aren't on the machine anymore, everything works the way i want it to, no unwanted programs aren't getting pushed on me etc.Taking this into account, is there any point in switching to linux now? The fact that I even had to spend time to debloat and tinker and tweak is ridiculous but honestly I don't see any problems with the OS as it's installed on my machine, whereas from what I know and I may be ignorant on this, Linux takes time to get set up right cause of the terminal plus uncertain compatibility when it comes to games, software etc. Again not siding with windows and fuck microsoft for enshittifying what was a good product but still is there any point for me to switch to Linux? Only thing I can think of is windows not letting me tweak the GUI.
>>108726634>one drive and copilot simply aren't on the machine anymoreReport back after your first mandatory update and reboot
>>108726669Yeah I'll see for myself, if copilot is reinstalled on here then fuck microsoft for real.
>>108726678The new thing they're doing, is moving ahead full steam with slop integration, but not adding icons. So it's still there, you just can't even shut it off anymore. The plan is kernel level integration of copilot. Copilot will be your os eventually. You'll pay for it, buy the compute with your money, but your system will be part of the cloud that they charge other users for. What a time to be alive.

>>108723578>what they are saying that steamOS has optimizations that Windows also needs. That optimization is literally just "not being Windows".Most Linux gaymen benchmarks are done with games running on Proton, not native games. Obviously in rare cases there will be games that run better on Linux for some reason or other, but Proton *consistently* squeezing out slightly better performance than Windows while having an extra layer of technical complexity is just insane, and freetards are right to brag about it. This should literally never happen unless Windows is just an unsalvageable mess.
