What's your opinion on Ubuntu, the OS that was made by Canonical?

I liked 10.04

>>108807583I don't think normies will be kvetching over Firefox taking a millisecond longer to open after a restart, not do I believe they'll be running lsblk without flags all fucking day like /g/ apparently does. They'll probably appreciate the apps they actually use being available straight from the devs themselves and a functioning permission model that actually fucking works.
>>108807551Good enough for Terry means it's good enough for me.
>>108807528I don't know, I use Fedora Kinoite, I would never see myself going back to a non immutable version of Linux because that shit sucks. And snap isn't going to go anywhere. We will see if Ubuntu core will be the de facto deployed version then I will take a look at that version.
>>108807528It's good and works for newbies who just want to use their computer without doing anything crazy after setup. No Linux newfag gives a shit about Gnome or snaps.
>>108807528I hate snaps but otherwise it's been rock solid for me
it works well enough. i run kubuntu 24.04 and the only complaint is that the archives have been a little flaky lately and that nvidia driver updates require a reboot, idk why not have those marked specifically so you dont have to guess every time you update packagessnaps are a mess but the majority of that is due to developers not wanting to support them thru a bit of bandwagoning. the origins of snaps are retarded (i used to use them on server, which meant forced updates on a service which would then get shipped broken updates by the idiot devs, but part of that is the devs' fault and not ubuntu's or snap's) but the idea is nice. the seamless rollback on a bad update that snap has is very nice. not that i use snaps because well, if nobody supports them then they suck by definition, any kinda containerization needs to have some level of acknowledgement by the devs packaging for itthat said, i have a day job, and not just that, im always on-call as well so i have a strong requirement that my pc just works, im sure there's better solutions for other people but idk man, kubuntu is just fine and works
>>108807528the logo looks ugly. i get that its people holding hands in their their old softcore wallpaper series and this does fit better with that, but the old logo had the 'heads' centered on the outline so long that moving it forward to be more 'correct' makes it look weird and uncanny. also why the big orange label above it? it looks like a yoghurt or cereal brand.
>>108807732it looks like the dutch government
>>108807528I always end up coming back to it. It's just the easiest to maintain for a long period of time>>108807583normies don't care about your Linux mind warsSnap just works. I literally only have snap apps
>>108807528linux trannies hate ubuntu because they are just incels trying to run down the clock because their lives are boring and empty. ubuntu is still linux trash but it is still the best.
>>108807751>>Rijksoverheid>Empire GovernmentDo previous empires never get over the fact that they stopped being empires a long time ago.And yes it looks similar to the Ubuntu logo.
>>108807528Literally Microslop's decoy to destroy Linux reputation on the desktop
>>108807823>>reichsüberheityes but that government logo is meant to represent like a fancy old label that'd fold over paper but that conceptually feels wildly out of place for a software operating system. The government thing is meant to look old-fashioned and official so subjects can already feel royally screwed before getting shocked by any letter's contents.

if you don't like linux mint that is based on ubuntu, try linux mint debian edition

>>108807528Enjoyed it back in the days of Unity desktop, 11.10 was my first step into Linux. Things started to get annoying and shitty when they went back to gnome, and dealing with snap garbage made me completely leave.
