Are there any Thinkpads with good screens? I like how sturdy they are but man, I have to keep adjusting how I keep one on my lap because the viewing angles are shit.
>>
>>108813912
old ones or new ones?
>>
>>108814163
New ones preferred

Nu-Thinkpad screen is subjected to keyboard scratch when carrying around in the backpack.
Mine is looking quite bad.

I wish I can tell you
My T14 Gen 2 is IPS but has this washed out color. I heard the touchscreen or tablet version should have a better screen.

soldered mediatek bluetooth chip on p14s works like ass under ubuntu. Any solutions? I don't think I can put a different module into the open WWAN slot.

>soldered mediatek bluetooth chip
wtf
WWAN slot should work. if it won't you might need to tape a pin (idk if it still works that way)
>>
Just bought an X201 Tablet. I am pretty excited.
>>
>>108814961
Looks like there might be a whitelist, slot screw also seems too far for a bluetooth module. What a pain in the ass.

My doctor's office had a bunch of these when I was younger and I always wanted one so bad.
>>
>>108815534
I have always wanted a ThinkPad tablet. I have a Fujitsu one which is not too good.
This seems like the ideal laptop for a /g/ nerd (to draw cat ears on people or whatever). Fortunately, I will be using it to draw Lisp and VHDL diagrams; two sides of the same coin.
>>
I really need opinions for possible models for work. (I will be entering a teaching job) but I need something sturdy to carry around, use it for the classes and in between probably just browse or do my documentation work or draw any shitpost on ms paint.

Are the ThinkPads worth it? If so. What models do you recommend?
>>
>>108815721
They are pretty much the only non-apple laptops worth owning these days. Get t or p series.
>>
Just ordered a X1 Yoga Gen 7 (1245U 16GB 1920x1200) for pretty cheap off a business reseller.
Going from a Swift 5 1165G7 8GB I think I might cum.
Reviews stating that the thing is a bit heavy to be using one-handed and as a tablet constantly but other than that how bad did I fuck up?
Ngl it's going to be a signficant upgrade regardless.

Look, I thought it was funny but not funny enough to make a Xitter screencap thread.
>>
anyone know what that thing called, it's like a temporary bios you load into to set settings locked by the normal bios?
like tdp stuff..
it was like, shadow bios or something
>>
what's a good model to pick up if I want something with a nice keyboard for writing?
budget and battery life would be nice too

How are the new Thinkpads these days? I've been out of the Thinkpad loop for a while now so I'm clueless. I'm seeing some people saying that the T480 is the last "real" Thinkpad, but that was released in 2018; how have the Thinkpads been since then? Are they even worth considering for most people? Did they become less reliable and repairable since then? I wonder if Thinkpads will become even more repairable now that LPCAMM2 is a thing.

I got a T14 gen 2 when it was brand new and I found the keyboard to be so dogshit I ain't buying another new thinkpad again unless they change it
>>
>>108819489
new or second hand?
>>
File: ScratchedKeyboard.jpg (159 KB, 1600x900)

Is this common with newer Thinkpads?
I got this T490 a week ago and noticed that I've already scratched some of the keys. I can tell that this didn't happen with older keyboards
>>
>>108822129
second hand.
although now I'm thinking I should just buy a fancy keyboard and plug it into any laptop if typing is what I mainly care about
>>
>>108822477
pretty much this yes
the last laptop with a good keyboard that you can compare to a desktop was the x220/t420
and the battery life on those is kinda bad (you'd need to buy batteries to carry around to mitigate it)
>>
>>108822439
I've had a P16v gen 1 from work for 2 years now and the keyboard look fine.

>>108822477
T420 is known for having the last great keyboard but it might be too old for you. The keyboard is also compatible with the T430 but again, quite old
>>
>>108822514
exactly. I was up late looking for x220s and even found a guy an hour drive away selling a working T61 for $100 but it hit me that I could just buy a nice portable split keyboard to use with something that has a modern battery/screen/weight.
>>
Got a T14 Gen 1 for 300 Euros to upgrade from my T470 (that I got last year for 220 euros, fuck me)

WHat do you think boys?
>>
>>108822676
Fine if it's AMD, you wasted another 100€ if Intel
>>
>>108822937
AMD, I learned my lesson with Intel (Also I'm installing CachyOS on it the moment it arrives)

whats the point of this thing i thought it would have activity indicators like the x41 but it doesnt do anything
>>
>>108813339
god damn I opened this in full screen and thought my think pad rebooted
>>

Fell for the "muh small bezel" meme and still wanting to shove 5MP camera somewhere.
